Pained my heart that this happened. Nicole was one of the few people who seemed to always thoroughly be enjoying herself and had a wide and consistent diet which made her look like she was easily cruising through her time on her first season (relatively speaking of course). Her knowledge of plants and how to use them was a big part in that. I hope she was able to get the treatment she needed and the attack was short lived...though maybe not too short or she may harbor regrets for tapping even though clearly it was the right thing to do.

I admit, I looked this up because I became acquainted with Nicole Arpelian through her ads on YT for her book of herbal remedies. I haven't watched Alone before watching this clip today (although I will certainly try to watch more as it looks fascinating!). That being said, after reading so many comments here about how she didn't have a "right" to take someone else's spot who is in superior health, I have this to say. Get used to it. She now represents a cross section of a society in which a majority of us are suffering from some chronic condition--be it cancer, heart disease, neuropathy, diabetes, MS, ALS, anxiety disorders, high blood pressure, obesity, metabolic syndrome, food allergies, asthma, COPD, addictions, depression, etc., etc. (all of whom, I might say, would need some sort of medical treatment unavailable to them in the wild). What we need to see, and apparently have seen with her in Season 2, is someone who can overcome sickness using nature even as she must fight natural elements. Isn't that what creates a compelling story? She represents all of us as there are so few people left who are in "perfect" health anymore. And while I am on my pedestal, might I say that if we want this to change, we have to change our food and clean up our environment! I think Nicole would be the first to agree with that statement.
I'm so sorry Nicole! I was rooting for you, it broke my heart for you to tap out. I'm glad you'll be ok... heal and be well my internet friend. You are a warrior woman in my books. My niece has MS, and you rock!!
I feel this woman's pain... physically and mentally! Much respect for you going out there and giving it a run at. Most would never even considered it. You didn't tap, you gracefully bowed out. 👍
You should have it on camera people should see the real effects of MS when they only see the healthy times it’s hard for them to believe how hard it is during the difficult times. I’m really sorry it happened to you. And I’m sorry you did not want it on camera. But it is important for others to see and they saw how very much you have been able to do!!!
I dont know you Nicole BUT I WILL give you props for going out there and doing that knowing you can have MS attack at ANY SEC!! No matter what I or ANYONE ELSE says. just for that you r a STRONG WOMAN!! Stronger then most of the women I have known most of my life. Dont EVER give up. Even if you get slowed down and have to stop for awhile. u take that break and use it for fuel for ur fire thats in ur heart. U have a VERY strong heart as I can see in this clip. Dont let me or ANYONE else EVER tell you that you cant do something. Cuz look what you proved to everyone in ur life. Even tho you had to call in. you still did all that. And youll be able to do more next time. Just take a deep breath center urself n keep pushing
I am watching her tapping out right now. We dont always choose what life hands to us. I can totally feel her frustration, knowing you have what it takes to win...yet circumstances are beyond your control. What an incredible woman, in SO many ways. I believe in you..I KNOW you could have won if not for the M S. I was cheering you on, this time and the last. God bless you honey❤ Women CAN.
Those that don't know, her legs don't hurt. The muscles just stop supporting her (temporarily). The most pain comes from having to be mature enough to admit you can't (right now). That pain is real. The mental/emotional scars outlast the relapse. You do you, Dr. Nicole. What were the temps/humidity/air conditions out there when this was going on?
when i have MS flares my limbs absolutely HURT - it's different for everyone - right now i have severe nerve pain in my right shoulder/arm and my arm is weak but i'm not in a "flare" presently - MS sucks lol
I agree with everything else you said but that her legs didn't hurt. There's absolutely no way for you to know that unless she said it. What MS is for one person is not the same MS experience for another. For some it just weakness. For others it's excruciating pain. And for more, it's both of those things. MS symptoms, like most diseases with nerve involvement, can't be generalized. Yes, the mental anguish is definitely part of it. She was most likely crying from frustration than anything else.
Nicole you have powered thru so much from wheelchair to full use of your legs and like you said you may have MS but MS does not have you. It's a mere fluck this attack happened at the worst possible time doing your show. You would not have left if you had a choice. Just remember that You had no choice. Get yourself under control and look forward to next season. You never know as you are the most popular on this show yes I am saying it out loud do I believe you will be back next season 💗💗💗💗
This had to be painful, but Nicole can hold her head up very high. She has already proved how tough she is.I was a little surprised with two very awesome girls tapping out so quick.
I’ve seen what MS can do to a person, my grandpa spent a third of his life hospitalized because of it. I have a lot of respect for you, going out into the wilds with MS.
@@qxverr.r6 Multiple Sclerosis. A disabling brain/nervous system disease. It makes your immune system attack the protective shell covering nerve cells, leading to communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body.
This really sucked. The only mistake she ever made was letting her abundance of fish go on her previous attempt. She was a serious contender for season 5. A real bummer.
I feel her pain. I was recently diagnosed with a degenerative Neuromuscular disease called spinocerebellar Ataxia #1. It has similar symptoms, which are constant, and I can’t even imagine doing Alone with such a disease. It has no treatments and no cure. It has destroyed all quality of my life but she gives me hope. God bless her!
The summary reads: "In Alone, ten MEN are left in solitude..." Nicole is clearly a woman. And an astonishing one at that! My friends and I have enjoyed watching all of these seasons on the history channel, but we all agree that more should be done to talk about the challenges that are unique to women in these types of situations! We are still eagerly awaiting a female champion on the show :)
I would think this would disqualify one from taking on a potentially deadly challenge. Great effort though. This is something I would only do at 100 percent health as there are predators there that will specifically prey on vulnerable.
Mon Dieu quel incroyable courage ! Je vous ai découvert par une publication de votre livre. Et moi qui le plaint de dépression depuis 25 ans! Vous êtes un modèle. Quelle plantes utilise t'on contre la fatigue en dépression ?
2:48 😟 breaks my heart. Idk who she is but Nicole, please know all i see is strength! You are not ur condition. "Wish that wasn't on camera." its ok. I promise!!
I just learned of Dr. Apelian through her commercial, and to say the least, her effort there was awesome. In retrospect, I can't help but think that she would have won the prize, if she could have brought even one of the medicinal plants that helped her beat the disease initially. Just a logistics error. Or possibly there are such plants or mushrooms in Mongolia if one knows where to look.
When I saw that yellow rescue vehicle coming to get her, I realized that's what I want to do as a job. It's so beautiful to go through mud and obstacles with powerful tools and just hammer through everything in your way until you get to the person in need. The pain of everything that happens before you meet converts to love and joy when you finally meet and can go back home.
If the producers of the show knew she had MS and knew about the pain and struggle she could go through, why did they allow her to be on the show? They've done that before with someone who had a heart condition. Ya they allow medications but still, that's dangerous and risky.
They have a legal team that makes participants sign legal waivers, I'm sure. You would be amazed how many people with MS live full, productive lives and aren't wheelchair-bound at home living on assistance. A lot of people wouldn't be amazed, but you seem like the special type of person that can't do a smidge of research before typing ignorance. :-)
This is the second time she was on the show and she lasted 57 days the first time, why wouldn't they let her go again? People with disabilities don't need to and don't want to be babied. They're adults that can decide for themselves what they're willing to undertake and handle and if they're willing to sign a waiver, there isn't a single reason they shouldn't be allowed to be on the show. Help was only a call away and she made the decision herself to call for it. And, on top of it, this was a chance to raise awareness for how MS works. It was extremely important for people to see this. I'm not going to lay into you because I assume you just aren't aware but saying things like you did is very ableist. Unless someone is actively dying at a quick rate, none of us have a right to limit what people with illness and affliction want to do with their lives (I mean, outside of illegality, of course). We probably shouldn't even suggest to them otherwise if they want to do something because, believe me, they've thought it through and anything we suggest will be something they already thought of because they live with it and we don't. The disabled community has been fighting for years to get people to stop coddling them. All they ask for is accessibility but they don't care for our unsolicited advice or over the top concern. They have been able to accomplish a high magnitude of amazing things that weren't previously thought possible, so it would be a travesty for us to try and limit them just because we're scared for them.
@TheRisskee Ableist? Ok. Just to let you know my son was born with a congenital heart condition. He has a lot of issues. When he grows up, should he be on this show? You think his heart can handle this? I'm going to assume you know all about him since you pretend to know about me too. Did she win both of the times she was on the show? Why did they tap out? Credit for her for trying and proving herself. My original question was an honest one. Why allow her on the show if it can do more harm and possibly permanent damage to their body? "They sign wavers" that's a simple answer isn't it? Doesn't call for a paragraph upon paragraph answer does it? But it's your choice to be offended. Calling me an "ableist". Gtfo.😂
For the second time this woman has come out on the show to quit. She was actually my favorite participant on her first season of Alone right up until she quit claiming her children badly needed her back home... yet here she is, leaving the children that supposedly so badly need her yet again. Why is that? How do her actions validate her excuses? This time around, she quit due to her claims of suffering from multiple sclerosis, but why does she feel the need to over dramatize her experience, just as she did right before she quit in her first season? And yeah, here comes the comments about me not knowing or understanding MS, but my sister has suffered with serious MS for years and even she doesn't scream like Nicole when she's about to take a fall because her legs give out. I think Nicole is a very capable and knowledgeable woman but I also think she's just a natural quitter and she shouldn't even be on Alone if she suffers as terribly from multiple sclerosis as she likes to portray. Why in the world would she want to be alone in the Mongolian wilderness if she's in such a debilitating state? I think being over dramatic and faking statuses are just attributes of her personality. If anyone thinks I'm being harsh or mean, notice that when Nicole cries, there are absolutely no tears coming out... that's called poor acting! Despite her clear knowledge of survival, I also think she doesn't belong on Alone.
She has a form of MS called Relapsing-Remitting MS. So she has on and off periods of attacks. There can be long stretches of time where she experiences no symptoms in between short periods of attacks. Unfortunately, MS is progressive so as she ages those periods of time where she has no symptoms get shorter and shorter and the attacks get longer and more severe. During the off periods, she is perfectly safe to participate in this show, albeit still an incredible accomplishment considering. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to predict when an attack will occur. Hope that helps explain it.

Well I think that Joe was not mentally prepared for this challenge and then the fact that he lost his fire steel made his already fragile mental balance collapse. He could have lived for weeks without fire. And then he could have started fire by friction if he really wanted to.
She would have tapped this soon on season 2 if not for the salmon run. Once her no work food supply runs out, she runs out, and Mongolia didn't have it. Season 2 tap was for "love", season 5 tap was "MS", I say both reasons are BS.
I HAVE to wonder about medical screening. They take thousands of applicants per season and whittle them down to 10 for the show. One would imagine that serious medical issues would carry weight...

@@TheRisskee That was a rather long-winded explanation as to why the producers should choose such contestants. I still disagree with point of view. Good day.
why don't they let people bring necessary medication for existing conditions like this? Just like diabetes or alzheimer's. It would level the playing field.
They do let people bring meds. They let a dude with a heart problem bring his on top of the 10 survival items they allow each contestant. She doesn't use mainstream pharmacy meds, she successfully manages her MS with specific herbs and plants (which is what most mainstream meds are made out of anyway) so I'm thinking either the production didn't view plants and herbs as legitimate medications or, she overestimated what would be around for her to forage and keep her MS in check. I think the only way to find out is to ask her.
But why try this with existing issues. I feel for her but it was not safe or smart at all. You have family you can't risk your life like this for a personal goal. I know imma look bad saying this but the wilderness is no joke and kids without a mother is a tragedy

I feel this woman's pain... physically and mentally! Much respect for you going out there and giving it a run at. Most would never even considered it. You didn't tap, you gracefully bowed out. 👍
Her and Carleigh were two of my favorites. So sad to see her go too. :(
Love you Nicole. Get well soon!
Thank you!
Brave lady!!! Well done!
Such a strong individual! So sorry to see her go, but in the meanwhile my heart was only aching when watching her. Hope she is well now!
God bless you honey❤
Women CAN.
She's amazing inspirational little things and people keep me going.kudods Nicole your a brave woman!
Just read her section in “Listening in the Dark”… she is such a brave, strong, smart woman… I can’t believe she actually did these challenges.
Nicole you are great ! Hope you take care of yourself !
Feeling very sorry that your having a ms attach, and have to tap out! Your a great person Nicole, hope you get your meds to help you feel better.
By far the toughest tap out I ever had to watch.
Mike B you still here
@@mrfluffybeehive yes?
Mike B that’s right
@@mrfluffybeehive ook
Mike B you know what’s good for you
I just wanna jump through the screen and hug these people sometimes.
You are so strong and a huge inspiration!!!
A big fan of you, I have seen what Ms can do. And you are amazing. Thank you
Those that don't know, her legs don't hurt.
Totally not how I expected that to end. So sorry Nicole!
Where I come we call them women!
This was her second time on Alone. She made it 57 days the first time.
Nicole ,was so strong ,if her ms,hadn't kicked in she would have been a strong contender.
I’ve seen what MS can do to a person, my grandpa spent a third of his life hospitalized because of it. I have a lot of respect for you, going out into the wilds with MS.
Can I ask what MS?
@@qxverr.r6 Multiple Sclerosis. A disabling brain/nervous system disease. It makes your immune system attack the protective shell covering nerve cells, leading to communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body.
@@OneEdgyAngerSniper thanks for the explanation and I’m sorry to hear your grandpa had this
You are a strong woman!!! You still came out on top. You are one of the best I am proud of you.👍🙏
You're a strong person Nicole. Hope you are feeling better.
Move forward knowing that you were strong in the face of what you can control. The fact you have isn’t your fault, never forget that.
This really sucked. The only mistake she ever made was letting her abundance of fish go on her previous attempt. She was a serious contender for season 5. A real bummer.
This was hard to watch. I felt so bad for you
So sad. She said in another interview that she had an adverse reaction to a vaccine. Im glad she is back to normal.
I would like it if the History channel had updated the viewers about her condition.
Oh my gosh, you did sooooooo good! You did are better than what it portrays! Wow, I am so impressed with you!!
The summary reads: "In Alone, ten MEN are left in solitude..."
Nicole is clearly a woman. And an astonishing one at that! My friends and I have enjoyed watching all of these seasons on the history channel, but we all agree that more should be done to talk about the challenges that are unique to women in these types of situations! We are still eagerly awaiting a female champion on the show :)
There are two women on that season.
Sad... A very nice person
My mind is blown ,how did she even move with literally one of the worst possible pains like......shes crazy strong
I would think this would disqualify one from taking on a potentially deadly challenge. Great effort though. This is something I would only do at 100 percent health as there are predators there that will specifically prey on vulnerable.
This was her second time on the show. She made it 57 days the first time.
Nicole is my hero
brave individual
so sorry
My cousin died from MS. Did you see what MS did to Boxing Champion Ali? This woman is amazing to be doing any of this period!
Muhammad Ali had Parkinson's. My dad has Parkinson's and my child has MS. I am sorry to hear about your cousin :(
Heart breaking....
What a strong woman
Sea Asparagus lady. Incredible human.
Sorry Nicole! Was really sure you would make it far, oh well you gave it our best!
Mon Dieu quel incroyable courage ! Je vous ai découvert par une publication de votre livre. Et moi qui le plaint de dépression depuis 25 ans! Vous êtes un modèle. Quelle plantes utilise t'on contre la fatigue en dépression ?
This is just sad. I would love to be on alone.
2:48 😟 breaks my heart. Idk who she is but Nicole, please know all i see is strength! You are not ur condition. "Wish that wasn't on camera." its ok. I promise!!
♥️♥️♥️so brave and strong
Help her :(
I just learned of Dr.
The only video without multiple of the same bill randall comments....just kidding look further down
haha! Totally! He trolls us all :-)
I know how you feel it makes me upset when my legs collapse out of nowhere it's so embarrassing to me
Why wasn't she able to bring her tinctures and meds? It seems that they set her up for failure here. She did an amazing job otherwise.
Cool Tv show!
Unfortunate.
I watched u on season 2 of alone and I routed 4 u!
Thank you!
Talk about frustrating!
Where is Nicole now 1:18 1:20
If the producers of the show knew she had MS and knew about the pain and struggle she could go through, why did they allow her to be on the show?
@TheRisskee
Ableist?
It's all she talked about the whole time was her MS Why go on the show I wouldn't with my asthma
Well, I know fow your feel... feel like you're legs are never going to hold you up and your powerless. I do it every day
I don't understand why they would allow someone with such a serious illness to even participate?
She has a form of MS called Relapsing-Remitting MS. So she has on and off periods of attacks. There can be long stretches of time where she experiences no symptoms in between short periods of attacks. Unfortunately, MS is progressive so as she ages those periods of time where she has no symptoms get shorter and shorter and the attacks get longer and more severe. During the off periods, she is perfectly safe to participate in this show, albeit still an incredible accomplishment considering. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to predict when an attack will occur. Hope that helps explain it.
And again, S5 brings people back who already showed they could do it. She aced 57 days in S2 already
This is the second time she was on the show and she lasted 57 days the first time, why wouldn't they "allow" (🙄) her go again?

I saw this show and watched this season. It’s funny how Nicole got huge salmon in her gillnet and everyone else got little fish. Too bad I learned she tapped out. I thought she would of made it fir sure
I actually don't feel bad for her in the least. She has MS, what did she think was gonna happen?

5 day's longer than Joe Robinet!
Joe's the man. You sir must be jelly.
billy fakersonton you can have all the skills in the world but, if mentality you are not there, then those skills become worthless.
Joe is fake
Monkey Nutz what do you mean fake? He wasn't taken out because of the mentality. He couldn't go on because he lost his fire starter.
Well I think that Joe was not mentally prepared for this challenge and then the fact that he lost his fire steel made his already fragile mental balance collapse. He could have lived for weeks without fire. And then he could have started fire by friction if he really wanted to.
Jason McDaniel Poor survivalist lost his fire steel.
She would have tapped this soon on season 2 if not for the salmon run. Once her no work food supply runs out, she runs out, and Mongolia didn't have it. Season 2 tap was for "love", season 5 tap was "MS", I say both reasons are BS.
She has no problem eating bugs. She would've been fine.
Thank whatever greater being exists that no one asked you. 🤣🤣🤣
Total and utter BS. It's sad she had to quit because of ms.
🙄
Must tanke the coimbra Protokoll, fand the MS is gone.
need new people on these shows same old story.

She was my favorite. My ma has MS so it hit harder
But why try this with existing issues. I feel for her but it was not safe or smart at all. You have family you can't risk your life like this for a personal goal. I know imma look bad saying this but the wilderness is no joke and kids without a mother is a tragedy
I don't think your reaction makes you look bad. However using "imma" sure did.

Its weird that people praise this. Its irresponsible to have gone out with a condition like this, she wasted a spot that a viable competitor could have used. In nature she would have died not been coddled and praised for her "courage". Be realistic people.
I couldn't agree more I have MS and I think she really downplayed how severe it is and she totally wasted a spot for somebody else I know I can't do this show even though I love it I have multiple sclerosis
I think she’s doing this to puff her quacking book of herbs. So even this season she claims her home grown herbs would have treated her illness.
And she wasn’t “coddled” out there. People in this comment section are bummed because it sucks to see someone go through something like that. It’s like you’re purposely trying to be callous. Just let yourself have empathy, there’s nothing wrong with that.
Well said.
She lasted 57 days the first time she was on, you absolute dullard...
