I use Rock Auto for just about all my parts needs for maintenance. For a 74 C10, Rock Auto shows pictures of every heater core from the front and the sides and possibly the back. They offer the cheapo version (like you have) and they go up almost fifty bucks. At least with Rock Auto, you are not purchasing sight unseen. Spectra offers good products and I have no idea where manufactured but I have not seen Harrison offered anywhere.
If not bolted in then send it back. But contact them as some companies require a RMA or return materials authorization #. Place a return address inside box in case the outside label is damaged or unreadable. Copy of invoice. Don’t give them any reason to not refund your purchase! Thanks Pete! Hello Minnie!!!
You wouldn't get a brass and copper US made heater core today for less than 100 dollars. Also careful using copper in a system with aluminum like an intake manifold or pump. It makes a galvanic reaction.
@@looking_33 "New Vehicles" Duh. That wasn't relevant to to this video or either point I made. You can still buy Copper/Brass heater cores on Summit Racing etc for old vehicles.
In my experience, the big companies that say they are for the restoration of classic cars/trucks, are really only for the almighty dollar. Even if you pay more for the “concours correct” stuff, the only difference is the amount of money leaving your wallet.
Yep, I made a video similar to this years ago but with the non ac 67-72 GM trucks. The aluminum heater cores just don't fit as well as the brass copper cores. It's really like that across the board with other old GM vehicles as well
Try buying a replacement for a '60-'63 pickup with a deluxe heater. They sell two heater cores, and neither one fits. It's not just LMC though. All the usual suspects have the same shit. I had to find one from a NOS one on eBay.
Sadly, it's gotten to the point that you have to assume everything you order will be garbage :( I agree with 4speed below, Rock auto is the way to go with the photos and all.
Bring back the good old days when you could buy a GM quarter panel that fits perfect. Now they sell you a one piece quarter panel for a 57 chevy. The fucking thing doesn’t fit and it has a vertical seam down the panel. All garbage better off making you own panel.
lookat the fins on each one... the new one is a more efficient design than the 50 yr old one, same as radiators now vs 1974... you won tfind the original made anywhere.

Copper radiators and heater cores are OBSOLETE. NO LONGER USED ON NEW VEHICLES.

Keep it up Pete. The world needs to hear the truth more.
I paid the extra money and baught a nos heater core I'd rather spend double get a original or new old stock than that junk

Jeez, send it back Pete... with a link to the video enclosed
Can the old part can be clean and fixed. Better than any aftermarket . I always like brass.
Have you lost a little weight my friend Pete?
I think it's a 81-87 heater core .Wrong one.
73-87 are all the same.
Had mine re-cored 64 chevelle.
You can't get the brass one's anymore I don't think they make them anymore. All aluminum now. 😉✌

Thats the newer aluminum micro channel coils. Same thing they are doing in hvac.
Pete I can’t find the videos on this truck.
When you pick parts by price
You always seem to get ripped off. Return it.
did you give them the right year and model...did you check measurements ..they say make sure it fits before you order...
I totally agree with you

so really whos fault actually is it since you decided to go the cheap route instead of paying for the correct part.
Its theirs for selling a part and saying it fits just to make the sale.
@@metalbeast83 Flush the brass heater core, pressure test, re-use.
I get angry when I get china parts that don't last too, they need to start building parts in this country again.
Send it back Pete!
