Honestly, Max shouldn't have been given hard. He literally said a wrong answer, and the name he said was an actual player in the league at the same time.
Recognized Carlos Guillen right away. I'm a mariners fan from way back. I remember trading mark langston for randy johnson, brian holman and gene harris to the expos. I've spent alot of time visiting carlos guillen, freddy garcia, and john halama's pages. I get sick when i visit (not that )Juan Gonzales and Ramon Santiago pages. I can't get mad when I think about michael morse. mostly his time after seattle, but thinking about michael morse makes me happy. Wait, did i make a point? (posted this whole rambly comment before i watched the crew struggle so much with it. What can i say. I'm a mariners fan. He was the everyday ss on the 2001 squad. ) He and mark mclemore hold a special place in my heart.
Thats a good video idea for you Jolly. Go back and revist how teams made out on Big moves. Like the Manny Macado trade for instance. Did the Orioles get anything for him?
As a Tigers fan, at the time of the trade I was more excited for D-Train then for Miggy 😂😂 Miggy quickly became one of my favorite players ever, naturally! Also got Guillen after staring at the numbers more too.
Got an idea Jolly. Players before franchise icons. Couple examples, Tony Fernandez before Derek Jeter, Mike Matheny before Yadier Molina, Nate McLouth before Andrew McCutchen, Ty Wiggington before David Wright, Bengie Molina before Buster Posey, Peter Bourjos before Mike Trout, Jeff Keppinger before Jose Altuve, Jay Buhner before Ichiro, Scott Hatteberg before Joey Votto
Max got Hard right even though he didn’t get the first name right initially? Do they get second chances? Or was it just because it was clear he was thinking of the right person?
I don't want to change the rules but a suggestion could be to add strikes. You could either do no strikes on the easy 1 strike on the mid and 2 strikes on the hard and 3 on the trivia question. You could also just do 3 strikes total and whenever they run out of strikes they are gone
i love this video except for i work in a building where literally 5 times a day people ask me "HI EXCUSE ME, WHERES CHARLES SCHWAB" and i have to tell them "through the double doors right here" where it says charles schwab 3/5 video. step it up boys
Dang I struggled more on Easy than the other two because the lack of Yankees in 2024 threw me off. Helps that I spent too much time studying Randy Johnson’s career.
I dont have any affinity to teams but when even I snapped off all 3 rounds and the chronological trades instantly within 5 seconds... that was a little too easy
Jolly, you gotta stop with the hints. It completely undermines the whole competition you're trying to establish. I know it's for content, but holy moly
Guys. For the love of god. Stop waffling. There's 0.00% chance all the Yankees fans in the office saw this and didn't IMMEDIATELY lock in on Alex Verdugo. Taking your time for the video doesn't add anything to the content, and only serves to make you guys look dumber. Which I know isn't the case for at least Jake, Max and BBD. So just cut to the chase and say the name and move on.
Oh my god the medium one is just as bad. Any non-casual baseball fan gets it in half a second but we have to stall out and pretend like we're really thinking hard on these instead of just saying the name. Unreal.
And then Jimmy for hard "Yankees played this team in 2010 and 2011 in the playoffs, that's when Jeter went down with an injury" which is also wrong. And also ignores us playing them in 2006. We lost to them in 2011 and 2012 and the 2012 ALCS is when Jeter died. I'm convinced everyone in this office only became a Yankees fan in like 2015.
Why is Jimmy always allowed to look at his phone or laptop during trivia or quizzes? It's just so annoying regardless of whatever he is doing with that..
God I love Jomboy and RefGuess but man is Joez annoying. From being a laughing stock for that Devers HR video, man has made his 15 minutes last way too long.
Jake v Max is fun, but the real points race to watch is obviously the relegation battle between Joez and Shelfy
Joez disrespecting 2015 World Series champion Omar Infante hurts a little bit
@@bro9991 dude literally only knows him on the Royals probably, and said him on a BBref sheet that didn't have KC at all. lol.
joes trying to redeem himself after that brutal joseph vottoolive loss
lmao Joez being so distressed by not saying "Carlos" as if he hadn't just been eliminated when he said Omar Infante anyway
Medium was given away by the silhouette lol
I knew it immediately. Unmistakable leg kick
Man, just came to the comments to say that.
They don’t see the silhouette though
I saw this comment before I even got to that part of the video and I assumed it'd be Dontrelle lmao
I stopped looking at the silhouettes because they sometimes give the player away!
Jolly makes Angel Hernandez seem like an accurate and diligent umpire.
Jolly is a good host, but the way he enforces and ignores rules seemingly at random is truly infuriating. Still love RefGuess though
Honestly, Max shouldn't have been given hard. He literally said a wrong answer, and the name he said was an actual player in the league at the same time.
And Jomboy was given a hint yet they allowed it
@@whydouneedakno Jolly been low-key giving Jomboy extra help this whole series, gotta keep the boss happy lol
Any time Carlos Guillen gets brought up you have to watch him stare down Jared Weaver
#2 wasn't traded for the face of the franchise, he was traded WITH the face of the franchise.
Jose Guillen played in the same era as Carlos Guillen, including the Mariners. Can't give the points there Jolly...
I’ve been waiting for Carlos Guillen to pop up. Sneaky good peak
2:46 They took Jon Berti from us Marlins fans. And Oswaldo Cabrera has been going off.
5:40 literally no one thought Willis was an overpowering strikeout pitcher
I love that Brandon inge is always a thought for tigers
Hard round is my favorite baseball player ever. I became a big fan of the sport because of this guy. I even have a signed baseball on my desk.
Love it when the guys say not a lot of pop and then I look and see the person still has more than Plouffe
To be completely fair and a bit nitpicky Max got Carlos name wrong. Jolly likes to give hints to people and it drives me nuts lol
Thats a good video idea for you Jolly. Go back and revist how teams made out on Big moves. Like the Manny Macado trade for instance. Did the Orioles get anything for him?
Getting the wrong first name and being able to switch it is crazy lol. Max don't need that help man
Loving the arcade font, goes with the video style well
Absolutely loved the tiebreaker for this one. Please do more tiebreakers like this, even though I got one right
Thank you for putting all the stats back in!
As a Tigers fan, at the time of the trade I was more excited for D-Train then for Miggy 😂😂 Miggy quickly became one of my favorite players ever, naturally!
Also got Guillen after staring at the numbers more too.
The instant I saw SEA to Detroit I was SCREAMING “Carlos Guillen”. The following few minutes was straight torture to watch.
Brett Anderson, Stephen Piscotty, Ricky Nolasco, Josh Willingham, and Ryan Raburn would be good hard ones to use.
Nobody's gonna get Raburn and I'd love to see it
Got an idea Jolly. Players before franchise icons. Couple examples, Tony Fernandez before Derek Jeter, Mike Matheny before Yadier Molina, Nate McLouth before Andrew McCutchen, Ty Wiggington before David Wright, Bengie Molina before Buster Posey, Peter Bourjos before Mike Trout, Jeff Keppinger before Jose Altuve, Jay Buhner before Ichiro, Scott Hatteberg before Joey Votto
Carlos Guillen was the easiest hard round for me as a tigers fan so I don’t understand the struggle lmaoo
As a Mariner fan that absolutely hated that we traded him, same.
Tigs fan here too. Crazy underrated short stop.
Guillen was awesome, miss him a lot
the jump from glen perkins last week to carlos guillen was truly insane
Cardinals fan remembered him from the 2006 world series. Super easy hard round for sure.
willis' delivery gave it away
Shelfy is right. I always thought player 2 was a 200K guy. Still got it based on just the teams and years.
On the trivia I mixed up betts and Lindor. I got Goldy, Sale and JV in order but thought Lindor’s first season with the Mets was 2020.
Every good RefGuess episode needs two things:
1. Joez having a mental breakdown
2. malding commenters taking the rules way too seriously
Carlos Guillen, got that one immediately. He was a good player for several years.
Perfect RefGuess followed by Perfect Trivia question...nailed that sh¡T.
Max got Hard right even though he didn’t get the first name right initially? Do they get second chances? Or was it just because it was clear he was thinking of the right person?
You kind of have to submit a final answer gesture, which seems to be at Jolly’s discretion. I was confused when Joez was still playing lol.
Probably the latter
Yeah that shouldn't have counted for him
Couldn't get easy but medium and hard were right up my alley
lol. I always got Carlos and Ozzie mixed up as it’s a weird time in my life where I wasn’t watching much baseball and they blend together in my head
Nailed the bonus this time around
I don't want to change the rules but a suggestion could be to add strikes. You could either do no strikes on the easy 1 strike on the mid and 2 strikes on the hard and 3 on the trivia question. You could also just do 3 strikes total and whenever they run out of strikes they are gone
the trivia this week was easier than knowing Carlos Guillen
Me as a Mariners fan watching them struggle with the hard round.
For Carlos Guillen it was missing 1998 and 99 which threw me off
I was surprised to see Dontrelle Willis is on commentary for Dodger away games.
i love this video except for i work in a building where literally 5 times a day people ask me "HI EXCUSE ME, WHERES CHARLES SCHWAB" and i have to tell them "through the double doors right here" where it says charles schwab
3/5 video. step it up boys
Wild enough, Jeter Downs and Alex Verdugo are both on the Yankees now after being a part of the Betts trade.
I could not get Hard's name, but I could (hopefully correctly) remember he was a switch hitter with the crouched batting stance in mvp baseball
Boy I love ref guess
As a tigers fan, this was a very easy round 😂
Same
I would have done the same order Jake did, im very surprised i was so wrong 😂.
Mediums shadow gave it away instantly lol
As a Mariners fan I got Carlos Guillen in about two seconds haha. Him and Freddy Garcia were pretty good but not worth trading Randy Johnson😭
Justice for Joez! Suspend Jolly!
Giving Jimmy the point after giving the hint is whack
Even jimmy looked confused how he got the point
Man, the only one I've gotten wrong so far is Glenn Perkins. I did however say both Ozzie and Jose before landing on the correct Guillen
Dang I struggled more on Easy than the other two because the lack of Yankees in 2024 threw me off. Helps that I spent too much time studying Randy Johnson’s career.
D Train was literally just a throw in with the Miguel Cabrera trade. It’s kinda crazy
shoutout to MVP baseball for me instantly getting carlos guillen
Damn, i thought it was Infante too.
I dont have any affinity to teams but when even I snapped off all 3 rounds and the chronological trades instantly within 5 seconds... that was a little too easy
trivia answer is
1. Sale to Boston
2. Verlander to Houston
3. Goldschmidt to St. Louis
4. Betts to Dodgers
5. Lindor to Mets
What happened in those years the Yankees met the Tigers in the postseason? I can’t remember.
the fact that these aren't currently is fucking with me. I almost convinced myself I was wrong on the first one.
#2 wasn't traded *for* the face of the franchise, he was traded *with* the face of the franchise
As a long suffering Mariners fan the hard was pretty easy today
Max didn't get hard. He said the wrong name.
Dontrelle Willis is a pretty big name for having such a short prime
The Cardinals vs. D-Backs is tmrw, not today lol
I miss Carlos Guillen so much
ngl as an M's fan I guessed Jose Guillen for the last one too, I feel stupid now
What does Joez do for JM? He doesn’t seem to know baseball outside of the Yankees
Is there a website where we can play this?
Am I crazy or was the final trivia question not that hard
Respectfully Jimmy belongs nowhere near the trivia round here
The Mookie Betts trade was too soon
I got Dontrelle in literally 1 second
Jake got cheated. Only one to truly make it through hard
What was the gullien trade?
Looked it up I’m pretty sure it’s randy johnson Houston
Carlos!
you guys should play immaculatedraft
I got Verdugo off the silhoutte I dont get how
Jolly, you gotta stop with the hints. It completely undermines the whole competition you're trying to establish. I know it's for content, but holy moly
Easy n medium were both easy
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
These are way too easy.
Max needs a serious nerf
Giving Jimmy the hint and not to any others is fair? Rare Jolly L
Guys. For the love of god. Stop waffling. There's 0.00% chance all the Yankees fans in the office saw this and didn't IMMEDIATELY lock in on Alex Verdugo. Max will never lose this
Man this was some BS from Jolly
Do any women work at Jomboy Media? It is tiring seeing the same guys over and over again…
I hate listening to Joez talk into the mic.
Another mediocre performance
Why is Jimmy always allowed to look at his phone or laptop during trivia or quizzes? It's just so annoying regardless of whatever he is doing with that..
God I love Jomboy and RefGuess but man is Joez annoying. From being a laughing stock for that Devers HR video, man has made his 15 minutes last way too long.
Joezs complaining is annoying as hell.
Letting Jimmy be on his laptop at the end for the trivia is crazy
And didn't he get the hard only cuz of the hint? What are we doing here?
him and max both used it to visualize the trades in writing, they weren't looking stuff up
