TwoSet: "Are there any instruments that don't use a pinky?"
Me, a harpist: "Well... hello there."
Fairly sure that you don't use the pinky on a pennywhistle and low whistle either.
I was going to say that. I'm not a harpist but I remember their video where they learned harp in an hour.
@@PlugInKali I just commented that while I was watching this vid.
I yelled “HARP” at my iPad and my husband came running!
I don’t think we really use the pinky for most percussion instruments except for probably the tambourine?

Just to give some context to the river flows in you in the river video: Malaysia was actually hit with a very bad flood recently and many were affected. Fortunately, the people here somehow managed to help out each other and get through this situation together. And yes we had fun videos like this one and finding fish/tortoise/snakes/crocodiles etc in your house due to the flood.
I feel so bad for people who have instruments like the piano that can't be moved easily :'). Can't imagine my harmonica being flooded with muddy water :(. Hope the flood doesn't go to second floor though or else the piano is wasted. At least the floods have subsidised now in Klang and any else where.
Ahh I figured that the video was related to the Malaysian flood and it turned out to be correct huhu. Currently the East Coast is the region hit by a bad flood, hope things will get better there and the victims are safe and sound 😭
Or just the ASEAN countries. Usually at half the end of the year, in the months like June, July,... Vietnamese-especialy in the middle of Vietnam, water is everywhere. Sad times, sad times, so good luck 😀

My favourite thing about Yamaha was in 2015 where they had their bike design team and instrument design team swap whilst keeping their same design philosophy. They came up with some crazy designs (including a full 360 drum kit)
that sounds so cool
Well Yamaha fine tuned the sound of the LFA because of their ..... unusal expertises.
That was rad af, thanks for the tip!

On the piano watering thing: back when I lived in the dorm there would sometimes be a really annoying beeping noise from the practice room. I eventually figured out that it was because the piano humidifier ran out of water, so I started regularly filling up the can. It was a sad day when covid happened and the practice room was locked and I walked past the beeping noise every day, unable to do anything about it.
It’s funny that being asked to play for the family was mentioned, because I actually got laryngitis this Christmas. I couldn’t sing in any of the Christmas carols that were a family tradition, but I was still able to participate by being the pianist! I was very thankful to be able to play for my family in that moment, but was still sad that I couldn’t sing.
Aww, hope you're ok now! Glad you got to play :)
I hope you're better now!
My family never asks me, but 2021 was the second year I showed them my playing, 5ys apart from when I performed the last time:) they were as impressed as sacrilegious ppl can get
Hey TwosetViolin,
Brandon Acker has told us to tell you that he would love to collab with yall. And frankly, I really want it to happen cuz it would be quite lovely.
Brandon's a really well versed classical guitarist who also dives deep into other historical instruments like the lute, theorbo, arabian oud, etc.
He is as passionate about classical music as Twoset and alls I'm trying to say is........MAKE THIS HAPPEN. NOW!!!!!!!!
Wait, did he really say that? :o it'd be pretty epic.
(twoset shared a survey a couple of days ago, idk if you saw it, but one of the questions was who would you like to see them collab with :o... )
That would be awesome

Brett's line in the concert about equal opportunity for love made me tear up. I am a closeted bisexual in an orthodox family and even though I know I'm valid, it doesn't help to hear the opposite by my family. I know that these two will probably never see this or ever meet me, but hearing that sentence from the 2 people that I highly respect and love really warmed my heart. Thank you so much you two!! It really made my day.
Take care, hope you get your opportunities!

My brother started playing piano this year so I forced him to play with me for Christmas. I always do a “concert” and play a bunch of carols on viola and piano alone so having a buddy that could suffer with me this time was nice. We played a four handed piano duet and he did a great job! Super proud of him.
A huge thank you to you guys and all those involved in giving us the World Tour. A real TwoSet production right down to the crazy start! Did anyone fall for that, I wonder?

My favorite part of the show was Mozart's too! The lamp scene actually looks like a musical but instead of putting words, you had notes to represent the feeling of the characters! It was very fascinating to watch 😊 I love Tchaikovsky's part too, 'coz I believe that the 2nd movement actually fits with violin and piano. It sounded more intimate and emotional, and I loved it very much! 💗💗

@@maryblakefletcher3595 while I wished I could have seen it, I am glad I spent my day with my mom. I really try to take every moment I can with her and enjoy it. (Lives in an assisted care facility, though really should be in a nursinghome. Long story). I love it that she hears my rambling and not really know how to respond lol but then she basically always (in wintertime especially) asks or hints to go play her favorite game rn that I’m also enjoying a lot. Maybe because it is our time, our quality time. I failed that when my dad was still alive so I don’t want to make the same mistake again and despite having a slight concussion with the remnants sipping through on NY, I decided I would live on Tylenol, put out the sleepsofa and from there watch TV with my mom. Nothing special but just to be there and spend the night at NY is something she looks forward to ever since my dad passed and she moved to the care facility. Me, I did not want her to be alone with NY so I talked my way into her room on an air bed and afterwards she was happy i had been there. 2018 I still asked but after that it was just clear that I would convening the evening and then I would sleep over and stay long enough to still play our game before heading home. Though I didn’t read it this year, the staff said she had been talking about it since afternoon and looking forward to it. And knowing that in the back of my mind at home I decided that I could not have her cry and be sad and alone like I had to do with Christmas last year when I had to stay in bed due to feeling dizzy and very nauseous. It was just one day but the wrong day :(
To read that she had been looking forward to celebrating Christmas together and then being disappointed to the point of her crying, it just broke my heart. My mom is a tough woman whom I only saw cry whenever mom passed away and maybe that’s what makes it harder if she does cry now. She is less inhibited due to a stroke by still she hides her crying if she can. And when she can’t I just cry along with her because it hurts too much to see her tears.
So while I would have enjoyed the concert, I would not give up my time with mom. Sorry guys !

I *LOVED* the concert. Every little detail, message, puns and piece was worth my time and commitment, I really enjoyed it! The part for Tchaikovsky, especially, really moved me. It was such a great time! 🤌🏻✨
So my little beginner mini orchestra had its first concert the weekend before Christmas and my family came to that, so they got the distinct pleasure of listening in one sitting to *all* of the pieces that they've been subjected to hearing me practice for the prior 10 months, lol. Apparently that sufficed, because no one asked me to bring out my violin on Christmas. Weird!
(I still did, though- today I'm on my 304th consecutive day of practice! :D )

0:55 I’m pretty sure Yamaha also makes flutes if I’m not wrong.
4:00 I grew up in classical music family, but as a kid I understood well that I won't beat my family in being mega-pro, and my family understood my reluctance to learn classical music given the high demands, so I went my separate way. However it seems it is so expected of kids of classical music background to learn music, that too often people who didn't know my family well demanded me to play the piano. This even happened at a guided tour to a historical mansion. When i said "I don't play the piano" it was occasionally treated like "oh, he's surely joking, you must play the piano". This made me think that I was some sort of traitor to the family, ruining the public image of the dynasty or something.
Yeah, my parents were kinda the same. I took violin lessons when I was younger but It wasn’t the right instrument for me, then I tried the piano but never really progressed so we stopped lessons after a certain point and I’ve barely touched the piano since. I’ll try to find easy versions of popular music to play occasionally but since I never learned to play through a whole song, I never finish them.
I play the flute, but strictly when am home alone. I don’t want to hear all the critics from my classically trained family. And same, whenever am asked if I play an instrument I rather just say that I don’t
This post and the replies make me sad. Everyone should play an instrument. You don't have to be perfect at it. You can play just for fun. People shouldn't feel so pressured to be perfect that they quit music altogether.
still cant get over the literal violin duet from the concert...*chefs kiss*

It was a joy to be a part of.
I’m a flutist, and we do use our pinkies, but it’s not that bad, because the right pinky’s only jobs are to bring out the low D flat and C (and low B on flutes with extended head joints) and be a balance point for most of the other notes. The left pinky is only used in my A flats and some of the extreme high notes, like 4th octave C, also not much work.
In fact, I think my pinkies do the second least work, behind my right thumb (which does nothing)

Our piano at church has the Piano Saver System, which is a humidifier/dehumidifer depending on what the atmosphere in the building is. It either adds or takes away humidity to keep a consistent level of moisture in the piano. (Helps keep the tune longer and extends the life of the piano.) We live in a very dry climate.
I once was filling the humidifier on the piano before an event and a group of musicians not from our church were sitting around and asked what I was doing. I replied "I'm watering the piano. A few years ago it was just an upright, and now it is a grand, and in a few years it should be a concert grand!"
