Caleb, these irresponsible people should not have their student loans forgiven. They don't deserve any handouts. You as a tax payer should tell these "adults" NO, pay your own loans, I don't want to participate in your stupidity. You signed up for it, not the taxpayers.
Especially since this lady can cook and there are 9 people in their house where 6 of them are ADULTS. The living there free without a job brother should be cooking up a storm all the time as a way to say thanks for keeping him not homeless.
And his parents live with them. Thats live in babysitters. Also, his parents can help with utility bills, insurance & real estate taxes. No reason to be so broke. But if you spend, spend, spend …….🙄 should be socking money away for retirement.
And now she is tied to his parents' house too. Notice, how HE is on the deed? What about her? If they carry the risk together (plus they are married), they should both be on the deed - or he gets to carry the risk of the mortgage alone.

He's keeping his head in the sand as a survival strategy. The problem is that it isn't working because they're getting further and further into the hole with their credit card debt.
Inflation got worse because people subsidized life style inflation at 20 before having an income to support the debt. Basically the people crying created their own inflation and their own problems. No one wants to suffer through work for 10 years and they want all the toys right away
"we got hit by an 18 wheeler" "we were deemed at fault" As a trucker myself, there is a 0% chance you weren't fucking around if you were deemed at fault. Your language tells us you have trouble taking responsibility.
I follow a trucker here on youtube who posts clip after clip of people like them almost causing accidents. People assume just because a semi is a bigger vehicle the person is more aggressive in driving and has worse driving skills. As far as I understand, you guys have to rely more on *us* being good drivers because it takes a lot longer for the trucks to come to a stop/be maneuvered in general. I wish you safe travels!
Wait…can you please explain this? I’ve always wanted to know what the truckers on 95 think of and how they see other motorists. I’d honestly want to see an AMA w a CDL truck driver
Thank you!!! I drive a truck too and that was making me crazy. every time they talked about it, you can tell they still don't believe they were at fault. Like I'm sorry but your driving has to be pretty god damn egregious to be found 100% at fault in a truck accident. They don't need a safer car, they need to be safer drivers.
All the highly affordable camera set ups have really helped truckers and the industry... back 20 years ago you just paid out cause "You're the truck, you have to be better" but these people cannot drive in a manner to let a truck physically (like actual physics) fuction on a road. They were 1000% at fault and got given evidence as such or they'd still be trying to sue definitely.
@@SpoonHurlerYup. I am positive that law enforcement and insurance companies coined the term "professional driver" for the sole purpose of making their jobs easier and to generate more revenue from truckers. If they ever viewed us as "professionals" they would extend some level of professional courtesy or at least interact with us in a professional manner.
Who tf takes a women that's 8 months pregnant camping and has them sleep in a car and then complains that they dont like camping?! Dude is crazy selfish. Edit: People, my comment doesn't say she didn't have a choice. My comment is about him complaining and acting like a whiny baby about his pregnant wife not enjoying camping while close to giving birth.
At 38 weeks I was miserable just existing. I would have lost my mind if someone even suggested going camping. The sweat, pain, swelling, and braxton hicks contractions would have ended me.
Definitely. We grew up with thrifted clothes and toys. We didn't have our own phones or tablets. And we didn't get vacation. But we felt loved and like we had so much.

“When a wife has a loving husband. She is relaxed” SHES ABSORBING ALL THE STRESS. A math teacher? A mother of three? And she lives with her in-laws? Of course she’d feel alone! My heart and soul goes out to her. She deserves better♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
What about her snide remarks about her children, her son's dangerous obesity, her refusal to take responsibility for anything ... tells you she deserves a better husband than the cuddle pillow next to her?
I was thinking the same thing. She married a man who not only ended up just becoming another child for her to care for but possibly added two more by expecting her to take on caring for his parents. And now his brothers too? I would be an absolute wreck. I don’t blame her for being a bit in denial. Even just criticizing her for “not liking camping” when she’s EIGHT months pregnant is insane.
She's not a mail order bride, she picked him. She's also Miss I forgot my debit card, matcha cookies are healthy, my child can't fit in a sedan because I've fed him to severe obesity and don't care about it. People tend to partner at their level.
"She does DoorDash because she likes sitting in the car in silence" is telling me all I need to know about this situation. Even her free time is spent bringing money in, just for her husband to buy bullcrap. She's also probably not left alone for a single second. Just a married single mother lmao.

@@KrystalAriif someone steals your credit card and goes on a spending spree, that’s the banks problem. You aren’t on the hook for any of it. In a debit card you are.
My dad had the same mindset as this dad and was super lax about finances, didn’t want to stress over things, wanted to buy his children great memories. We had great Christmas and birthdays, but I also watched our family car get repoed from our driveway, watched him sell trucks and motorcycles after money fights with my mom, and experienced our family getting kicked out of our foreclosed home after they filed bankruptcy. Those moments were traumatizing. This dad doesn’t realize what harm he could put his kids through.
One of my good friends had a similar situation growing up...had all the latest toys and gadgets for Christmas but then didn't have any money for college and had to send money to her parents to survive as an adult. It's sad how some parents don't see the long term impact of those decisions.
I remember when these shows were 45 minutes. And a 1 hour was a sweet treat. But these 1h 30m videos… damn near feels like a golden ticket to the sweet treat factory every MWF
As a truck driver, what happened is that she changed lanes without looking. Terrifying position to put that trucker in not to mention it impacted their career. And then not own up to it. SMH
It's people like this that make me glad I drive a rig with an inward camera as well as an outward. My company has been faced with claims from insurance-frauding 4 wheelers, and the cases were open-shut--we have proof that you hit the vehicle AND that the driver wasn't distracted (usually their whole argument).
Commercial insurance adjuster here, if you’re owner/operator, get a dash cam. If you work for a company that doesn’t supply them, find a new employer. So many rear end accidents caused by ppl that don’t look and change lanes and the only saving grace is the dash cam because tractor/trailers cannot stop.
@@hornetguy9063the only people who have ever said that with any semblance of seriousness are the ones completely oblivious to what it’s like being an educator. Just like most other trades, we ignore all the education, certifications, technical skills and knowledge needed. For example, when most go to a five star meal, we think “yum that was amazing”, and not all the years of training, crazy hours, and sacrifice needed to make it to that level. It’s easy to scoff about things we have little understanding of.
It’s so appalling how many couples with literal CHILDREN can be so irresponsible. If they had a 6 month emergency fund they could have survived the 4 months she was out of work.
Especially with a paid off home. If I understood that correctly. I missed a year of work battling cancer, spent four weeks in a coma. We came out fine.
He is so insecure. If he were a secure adult he’d realize that making memories with your kids requires time , attention, and imagination. It does NOT depend on going into enormous debt. Do you want your kids’ memories to be of your ignorance and irresponsibility?
Caleb has definitively proven to me that managing finances is behavioral and not about numbers until you fix the behavior and rationalization problems. “So you are saying because we have debt that we can’t eat out?” Dude yes, eating out is like 5x as expensive. That’s a luxury if you care about not working till you are 75.
This is part of Dave Ramsey's philosophy as well; that's why they use "snowball" to get some small wins instead of the mathematically better "avalanche" method.
I've been eating out a bit more because of moving and woo boy even subs are a little too expensive! 😅 Now I remember why I spend the money on groceries instead and cook.
She can start selling her coffee and cookies at events with just a 6 foot table and a pop up. Vendor fees are usually fairly low for local markets, and food vendors (especially desserts) sell really well. Most of the dessert vendors I’ve worked with even sell out before the event is over. A food truck isn’t needed. Invest in branding and packaging instead.
Please don't get married then. If you think a bit of a mental barrier or simple ignorance when it comes to self-desires and the family unit is the cause for "DIVORCE HIM SO FAST" don't get married. People are not perfect, people show their shortcomings in many ways, at many different times in life. It's YOUR JOB as a PARTNER to assist them with learning and developing to be better. It isn't just "WHY ARENT THEY GOOD NOW!!!!!!!" Pretending that you NEVER said anything rash, ridiculous, or off the wall, is absurd and lucky for you it wasn't on a RUclips channel millions watch. Have some perspective. If you aren't ready for that responsibility to yourself and your partner, it's not time to get married. And sure, if they don't want to listen or make any efforts towards progress, then speak to them about how that is having negative outcomes on your family, you, and themselves. Which, if not addressed, will start feelings of you wanting to move away from the marriage.
TBF, a parent's emotional state will directly impact their ability to be a good parent. What I think is wrong is the way that his kid's future overlapping with his poor decisions should affect his mental state as well. There are a lot of ways to improve your emotional and overall mental well-being without jeopardizing your family's future and stability.
Feel like every guy that is a s/o the last month or so has been terrible. The one guy not willing to compromise or sell his toys. The other one blaming his 37 year old wife when he is a giant man child.
In Buddhism we're taught that equanimity is one of the highest mental states we can achieve, but there is a "near enemy" of equanimity -- something that LOOKS like it but which is actually its opposite: indifference. This guy is very unwise and has fallen into the trap of thinking that saying "fuck it" is the same as transcending normal worldly concerns. He's indulging all of his desires and expecting other people to do both the emotional and the literal labor necessary to pay for it all. What a fool.
We go for breakfast once a month so our son can play in the kids area. Before this we hadn’t gone out for more than two years. We also have 5 cats and 5 dogs so we make the decision not to eat out. We have the animals instead

She's teaching math not finances 😂 and yes I know there's math in finance but I didn't learn shit about what a good or bad interest rate was in grades k-12
That's 27% interest after a year, whereas the 5% back is immediate, so it's not really apples to apples. Mathematically, it is better to use that card for the cash back compared to a debit card with zero cash back, as long as you pay it off quickly. Obviously, the issue is that they're not paying off their cards quickly, so they shouldn't be using credit cards at all. The cash back can be a psychological trick to get people to spend more and go deeper into credit card debt. When used responsibly though, it can be a positive thing, regardless of the interest rate on the card.
His cockiness is what kills me. He's so uninformed yet thinks he has it figured out by choosing to not care. And he doesn't even recognize that he's pushing the boulder of debt the entire time. He doesn't want to hear any of it either. He doesn't even seem like a likable person. Atleast the wife is friendly and willing to listen, and is the one who's actually aware of all their finances. Isn't like she works less and has more time to be taking on the stress by herself. Guarantee he's one of those guys who does the bare minimum of childcare responsibilities too.
I want to give this guy some context on why not getting ahold of his debt is a bad thing. My dad was terrible with money. A couple of years ago, he passed away suddenly. Even though my parents had been separated for a decade, they were still legally married, and suddenly, my father's debts became my mom's responsibility. He lived his life perpetually in the red for the things he wanted, and now his wife and children have to deal with the consequences of that selfishness. I've never fully grieved the loss of my father because I am constantly angry about the position he left our family in out of his own irresponsibility. When you leave your family saddled with debt either due to death or disability, your kids will not care that you went into debt so they could eat out all the time and take vacations when they were younger. All they will see is the fact that you were too irresponsible to do the bare minimum of making sure your ducks were in a row just in case. Maybe you can handle the dollar amount, but that pales in comparison to the lack of respect that your family suddenly has for you when they are stuck filling the hole you dug for them.
Hard agree! My mom is the one who has been terrible with money and she became disabled and had to move in with me and my husband. She still couldn't get a handle on her finances with no rent or utilities to pay so she spent what retirement she had and is now in assisted living on Medicaid. She still cannot get a hang of finances and is having my sister buy groceries(she's fed 3 meals by the assisted living facility so I'm refusing to do this for her as I've helped her enough). It's beyond frustrating
This show has REALLY opened my eyes. I now know I am not a “credit card person”, and I had my horrible past with credit cards - currently finishing a consumer proposal. Seeing how others justify stupid spending is like looking in a mirror and seeing a person I never ever want to be again.
This infuriates me people have no clue how good they have it. 100k household! And they can’t figure it out?? I’m figuring it out on 40k with twins in a one income household. Jeez
Same here, 50k with 4 kids. They've got 100k and don't have to pay rent/mortgage. They're so much better off than most households and they're just blowing all their money.
from the heart. I was awful with money and I still struggle, in one video, someone's situation was so similar to mine that every single one of Caleb's arguments felt directly targeted at me. (Not trying to be self-centered here) but a few days later, I started studying different kinds of budgets, created a budget plan and the momentary relief of years of stress just evaporated from the single fact that I KNEW where my money was and where I was in life. I have now almost repaid ALL of my debt and can, after 6 months, finally say, I'm doing good. Big man himself prolly won't read this but still - thank you Caleb. My life and my perspective on it, most literally took an entire turn for the better because of your videos and your incredible, INCREDIBLE ability to be honest and real with people regardlesss of how they might perceive you. It's much easier to deal with this by building healthy habits early on, rather than trying to lose the weight later in life. Please do what you can to set your kid on a good path.
This disgusted me more than their financial situation, taking their obese child to Chili’s instead of encouraging a healthier lifestyle. Such shitty parenting, it’s infuriating. She was concerned about not giving their children enough, so you make them sick by overfeeding them? Way to go.
I came to the comments looking for someone commenting on this. This is the saddest part of this whole video. Ruining your kid's financial future is one thing but also ruining their health is abusive.
The idea of getting fast food every day, multiple times a day is just so disgusting to me. Cooking is a life skill everyone should know, even if you cook just basic, basic things. It's crazy how lazy and incompetent some people CHOOSE to be.

The wildly uncomfortable moment when Caleb clapped back about him having the right to the property only because someone gave it to him. This guy is such a narcissist.
@@jamielivingston7765 I agree with you. His attitudes toward debt and money in general compared to his feelings/happiness were where I caught the post-modernist/socialist vibes. His causal nature to his land inheritance (coupled with his seemingly lack of concern for his risk with the property in the current state), was not where I was getting those vibes. Maybe another tact would be him being an MMT guy, but I didnt get that economics was a thing he was interested in.
Having kids is not an excuse to be financially incompetent for the sake of “gotta make my kids happy”, so tired of hearing this from parents on the show. You know what your kid is also gonna like? having a parent that can support themselves and not leech off of their children when they can’t work anymore because they have no retirement.
Well and I call bullshit that kids need a ton of money spent to make them happy. You know what makes kids happy? Baking cookies. Playing at the pool. Playing uno. Watching a movie and eating popcorn. Going to the lake and playing in the sand with empty plastic cups. Playing tag on the playground. Kids need your time and attention far more than they need expensive things. They don’t care what car your drive or whether or not their shirt is secondhand or name brand.
It always really bugs me whenever the father of a house puts on an air of “I’m taking care of my family” and “To me peace and experiences are more important than money” when dealing with horribly irresponsible debt. Like dude, I promise you your children will not see it the same way once they’re of age to understand the situation you’re putting them in

Parents financial irresponsibility puts stress on their children PERIOD and no amount of saying yes and credit card debt will hide it.

She can't manage money, amass savings to cover the business investments needed, nor amass savings to cover her current salary that she'll lose until the business succeeds. This is bankruptcy waiting to happen. Moreover, there have been at least 5 cafes like the ones she describes near me open and fail in 10 years. The biggest issue I've noted is the business owner doesn't pause to consider why the service industry is such a challenging work environment for folks with ASD-1 and other similar DX's. Being fast, accurate, social, and stereotypically social at that, are not the hallmarks of ASD-1, but they are of every service industry position. One café near me used volunteer high school students as free labor to help the paid workers with disabilities. Students have to perform 250 hours of community service between 6-12th grade to graduate. It worked put in paper, but not great in practice. The debt isn't the problem. Their life situation isn't the problem. Inflation isn't the problem. Their attitude toward and beliefs around money are the problem. I guarantee you that if they had all their debt go to zero (let's say by some inheritance), they would just run up more debt over the next ten years.
How does she forget her debit card but always has a credit card? All my cards are in a wallet. My wife's cards are in a wallet, in her purse. Why are the cards all over the place?
So I did this by accident often, but I've made a point to be better. I would swipe to get gas then put that card in my pants pocket while I pumped. End of the day, pants and card go into the laundry pile. Next time I go to pay, my card isn't in my wallet, but the others are.
“I forgot the card” basically means “I didn’t have the cash on the debit card so I swiped the credit card instead and can’t take accountability because I know that was wrong but don’t admit it because then I would have to change”
For the life of me, I can’t understand how people like this constantly smile and think it’s cute that they’re in loads of debt throughout the entire episode… It literally couldn’t be me, man.
It’s a defense mechanism. Many people laugh/smile when they’re uncomfortable. If she’s autistic as she said she is, she’s masking a LOT so there are added layers to the discomfort. Outside of that, there’s probably a fair amount of cognitive dissonance/denial happening, stopping them from seeing the full picture
Some of my best childhood memories are playing in the backyard, game nights with my parents, watching movies etc…. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on trips and gifts to make your kids happy.
I hated trips as a kid. My parents stressed. We could only chill at home. The good memories are holiday parties at home, gardening, crafts, singing with mom and sis ...
It's wild that Caleb says take a cheaper trip or wait to travel, and all these parents are like, "dEPRIVE mY kIDS?" Dudes, your kids can make wonderful memories in a free city park.
My favourite memories with my grandparents were feeding the ducks down at a little park down the street from their house. I used to beg to go and have lunch at "the duck park". I live near it now as an adult and it's literally just a large grass patch that borders on a small bit of bush, with a creek running through it. Absolutely nothing special. Edit - sounds like Caleb has very similar memories, ducks and all.

Caleb glossed over the birthday party charge but it’s actually ridiculous. I understand the oldest was invited to the party… so you take him and leave the other 2 at home with the other parent. If for some reason that other parent isn’t available (which shouldn’t be the case for them since they are both teachers and not working on weekends) then ask one of the other 4 adults in the house if they are able to watch them for 2 hours. And even if that’s not an option… then take the 11 year old and drop him off! Parents aren’t required to stay at this age.
I caught this too. It sounded like the invited kid was being paid for by the birthday boy, because she said she only had to pay for the other two. LEAVE THEM AT HOME! I never went to my sister's friends birthday parties.
$130K income with a paid for house and they can't make ends meet. They are both teachers and one of them teaches math. They seem very irresponsible. This is some serious dysfunction. @@Dadbeard89 where are you looking for them at? Just a local dealership in person? I'm not trying to be sarcastic, just genuinely surprised. I scout on big aggregator websites, like CarGurus, Autotrader and like 5 more. Of course you need to be diligent to actually physically inspect the car and all the documentation, but it's legit. I've bought 3 cars in the last 5 years using that method, including a 250k miles Civic for $4,500 in 2021. I had to do pretty thorough maintenance myself, but I knew that would be the case beforehand. If you're not someone who can/wants to do that, I was also considering another similar Civic in almost perfect condition but for 7k. And to clarify, all the cars run fine and I haven't regretted the purchases, I've bought 3 because one was for my wife and I flipped one. Like sold for a better price flipped, not like an accident flipped. So what I did now was set filters and looked at photos/details of the cars. The going rate seems to be around 12-15k for those minivans, true, but a lot of seemingly legit options for 7.5-10k.

Sounds like maybe the other kids are overweight too, since the two year old wears a 4T. Both of my kids have stayed one year ahead for clothing sizes, but they’re taller for their age and not overweight. It’s sad though when you don’t know how to give your kids healthier lives than you have. A lot of people try their best but they try to just restrict eating, or cut out treats. Personally I think the best approach is additive; serve more and more vegetables, and focus on having many colours of the rainbow on their plates. Not that my family does this perfectly. I grew up surrounded by unhealthy eating habits and it’s hard to get away from. But that’s the advice I’d give to families like this. Add more greens - and oranges and purples and reds. The kids won’t eat them at first and that’s okay. Just pack them up as leftovers for your lunch the next day, and try again tomorrow.
The toddler is overnight as well most likely. My son is in the 90th percentile and he turned 2 in Feb and wears a 2T but 3T in pants bc he's so tall. For her to be a 4T before turning 2 she'd have to be like... around 40 pounds I'm guessing? That's crazy. My son is heavy af. I can't imagine him weighing another 6 pounds.

It's gross, starting ANY business is very hard and has risk, food service is among the hardest and most competitive. These fools can't raise their 3 kids making 6 figures combined without having a mountain of STUPID debt. My husband and I make a combined 58 gross and raise our 3 kids and have less than 1k debt in a major metro area on the east coast. I usually have sympathy, I'm having a hard time finding any for these two. I hope this was a good wakeup call for them. Those kids deserve a future that doesn't involve taking care of their elderly parents
The difference between good finances and poor finances isn’t about the situation, it’s about willpower. Perfect example in this episode, Caleb showing self-control and discipline by repeatedly rejecting even a single cookie to achieve his goal. Meanwhile, the guests continually tempted him saying “You can have just one cookie, it’ll be okay.”
I made mistake the other day 😅but what do we do when we make mistake we say oh ok how can fix this learn from it and move forward I don’t understand how people can just dig the hole 🕳️ bigger then say oh it not so bad the fact that have hole 🕳️ at all bad 😢stop digging and fill that hole 🕳️
It's also about the situation, but that's typically not the main factor. There are definitely people who simply don't make enough to cover their necessary expenses
As someone who was in the food truck business DONT DO IT. The cost of everything is so high right now, it’s not a huge profit margin even after the first few years. Food businesses are not like they used to be

As a trucker myself, there is a 0% chance you weren't fucking around if you were deemed at fault.

Literally. How did he even have the energy to make any children? He probably just sat there while the wife did all the work. He's like a dead battery.
EXACTLY
This. ALL of this. 🙌💯
Thank you for sharing your experience! I hope he sees this!!!
Hard agree! My mom is the one who has been terrible with money and she became disabled and had to move in with me and my husband. She still couldn't get a handle on her finances with no rent or utilities to pay so she spent what retirement she had and is now in assisted living on Medicaid. from the heart.

She doesn't. It was a lie.
A lie or to hide spending from the husband, or not enough money in the account at the time
She’s lying she just grabs whatever card and has no interest in using credit cards properly
So I did this by accident often, but I've made a point to be better. I would swipe to get gas then put that card in my pants pocket while I pumped. End of the day, pants and card go into the laundry pile. Next time I go to pay, my card isn't in my wallet, but the others are.

And there are free things for kids all the time! Libraries have passes. Zoos have free days. Parks are free - fun things don't have to be expensive!

House and maybe car or business expenses are exceptions, but damn right.
