This is honestly the best sounding new banjo i have heard. Of course, it doesnt hurt to have Jens playing it. Hes my favorite modern banjo player.

I own exactly this banjo with that setting. Well, it's a fantastic banjo. Love it and would never give it away in my lifetime. Thanks for building this amazing instrument!

I aspire to own this Saratoga Star someday. I have heard this banjo played and it sounds so pure and clean. Jens is dead on when he says it's the best banjo made.

I just purchased one of these instruments. It was obvious from this video the pride that you feel in your creation. That was the prime reason I chose Deering and this particular model. I am anxiously awaiting delivery in a couple of months. If you can speed things up, please do! :-)

We will do everything we can...but it will be worth the wait! So happy you settled on this model.

I love his style of playing and his style is why Im going to buy another Banjo and looking at some Deering Eagle II, GDL or this Saratoga Star and back into play the banjo more his style of play I will do. Regular bluegrass is ok but I like to other styles like him use the banjo sound in different types of music. Jens style is giving the banjo a new use in music I think.

Hi there. I am curious. Is there anything specific about the Stelling that you like?

Hello Deering Banjos ! Well, my Banjo is a 1979 Super Star. Rare as Geoff Stelling only built 70 Flatheads and 70 raised heads. I love the wood, it is beautiful even for an almost 40 year old Banjo. The neck is slender and so easy to play. The sound is... like a crystaline waterfall but will also blow the windows out if required.
When you play her, the whole banjo vibrates. The old Super Stars, Star Flowers and Moon Flowers are all rare and World class Banjo's. Thank you for your interest !

What tension would the head best be at? Could it handle being around a B?

Hey! We don’t use a drum dial or torque wrench, we tune the head to a pitch. We aim for a G#!

I like everything except the gotoh tuners. At the price point that this banjo is I’d expect Waverlys, but then again I have a set of Waverlys on my $700 good time 2 lol

I think it probably comes down to personal preference, right? In our experience, we have found Gotoh's to be the most reliable by far. We also have a great partnership with Gotoh, which, when you are talking about building and manufacturing, plays a huge role. They are awesome to work with.
