I bet Jason spent the majority of his time wandering the ship thinking to himself "What is this place? Where's Camp Crystal Lake?"
Last time he was that confused he was in Times Square back in 1989 going, "WTF?!"
That or he was thinking, "where am I Star Trek?🤨...no tech isn't strong enough, Star Wars🤔...no storm troopers in sight. Ah crap 😫I think I'm right around Leprechaun in Space."
Jason X is such a wild premise, but the cast and crew know how bonkers it is and seem to be having a lot of fun with it. Love the hologram distraction scene.
It was a half way decent way to bring him back after all he's gone through. Now they can go on to make Friday the 13th 11 and on so they can get to Friday the 13th the 13th
They were smart enough to realize that the Ft13 franchise had nowhere to go, so just jumping into crazy land was the best avenue. The best kill/line is "He just wants his manchette back." The DVD had two great options. Kill Count kept a running tally of the deaths. When they slam into the space station, the score just starts scrolling. There is also a Random Kill option, where you hit go and it just jumps to a random death scene. If you can't enjoy this film, your dead inside.
I would say that if you are smart enough to realize that something has nowhere to go........... You just don't take it anywhere.
"This franchise has nowhere to go" "Okays so where we're going to go with it, since it has nowhere to go, is" "No, it has nowhere to go".
It would be different if you disagree with the statement that it has nowhere to go, and come up with an option where it does have somewhere to go, but then it's not being smart enough to realize it has nowhere to go. It's either being smart enough to realize it DOES have some place to go when others think it doesn't, or it's not being smart enough to realize that it has no place to go. It's like being smart enough to realize your relationship has no place to go, so "Let's get married".

Dude, this is almost like a cheesy classic, and it's definitely better than Jason Goes to Hell
They were waiting to do Freddy vs Jason, but that was still stuck in development, so they came up with Jason x to fill the time until that was all sorted out.
I can't enjoy this film because I'm not dead inside. I have expectations and wish for soul even in slasher movies. Sorry X. Just because you know you're bad doesn't mean you're no longer bad.
For a cheesy Jason movie, this is actually pretty damn good. I think most fans of the franchise really like Jason X. I'd be onboard for more space Jason, no doubt.

Yes this is my 4th favorite
The only one I dislike would be Part 9 as the only decent scene for me was the FBI bit. The rest of the film wasted such a great looking Jason. Part I was fine but the camera footage was homevideo quality. Part 3, Part 5, Part 6, remake, Jason X and FvG was best for me. Most of my selection seem to be disliked by the majority but I was never one to solely jump to popular films. If it happens to be popular then so be it.
All the movies are fun in their own way haha
The space thing is what killed this movie. The kills were amazing but easily a dumber plot than 5 and 8

I love it when David Cronenberg acts. Or at least I think he's acting. He might just be that creepy.

1. I do like the idea that they were going to use Jason's regenerating ability for medical research. It actually makes sense to study him.
2. If Jason was going to fall in love, it should've been with Lexa Doig because she's the hottest of all the "Friday" women!
3. I'm awarding Mrs Movies one Cool Point for knowing BFG = Big Fucking Gun 😎
4. I personally loved the look of "Cyber-Jason" and using holograms to take him (albeit) briefly back to Crystal Lake.
5. This is just a fun popcorn movie, somewhat similar in tone to Friday VI. (although nothing can beat that one)

Today is a sad day. No more Friday the 13th/Jason reactions until the 2009 remake. I bet Mrs. Movies is really bummed out. She won't admit it, but deep down, she loves these movies.
I think the saddest part is the last Jason movie was made over 12 years ago.

Love the cameo by David Cronenberg at the start - he is also excellent in Clive Barker's Nightbreed.
Dude her reactions are hilarious man, she's so nonchalant about it sometimes too has me in stitches. That said I saw this in theaters as a teenager too. Entire theater was dying at the sleeping bag scene in this one as well

Its funny as Lisa Ryder and Lexa Doig was in a sci-fi show called Andromeda, Lexa played an AI/Android and Lisa a human, in this the roles are reversed

I actually really like this film, even if it's cheesy and bad. The idea is pretty interesting too. Taking a well known horror character and placing them into a sci-fi setting in the future.
Leprechaun and Hellraiser already did it though so it isn't exactly a new or unique idea.
If they are going to do this, then they should have done it right. Hire someone who knows science. I was available, too. Fools!

its fitting, the F13 series was sci fi plus we started the sci fi when Jason started teleporting and we basically had time travel already in the franchise already.
I think this movie is underrated. It's got comedy, a new setting and more of an actual plot. Even tho it may have been cheaply filmed all in a warehouse, it wasn't that bad. Better than 9!
I was waiting for this video. Jason X is a guilty Pleasure of mine. I know its terrible but there are some small good things I like about it.
Also for story purposes: Freddy vs Jason takes place before Jason X despite being released 2 years later. Since you referenced BFG, you should watch Doom (2005) with Dwyane Johnson
I actually like doom with the Rock I know they say it's unfaithful, to the doom games but i never played them and didn't know about them so that doesn't bother me that it's it's own thing because I don't know the game history.

IMO Jason X has the best trailer ever for the worst movie possible. The trailer makes the movie look amazing.
It's always fascinating watching a movie where it's obvious the people making it just did not give a shit. And loved the dry humor in this, like casually offering a drink after explaining Earth has been destroyed. This movie has gradually moved up my F13 list from one of the worst to one of the best. I've probably rewatched more than any of the others
Now the 2009 remake, it's actually not that bad, I went to see it opening night and everyone in the theater seemed to enjoy it

Ditch the underground stuff and you got a good movie there. Tried to be vague to not spoil.
It was the first one produced by Paramount after 1989. So that's why it just feels like a "real" Friday the 13th movie. The ones produced by New Line from 1993-2003 feel phony and hokey, like New Line just didn't give a crap.
I like the 2009 Movie as well.
My main problem with it is how uninspired the kills are.

Lexa Doig(Rowan) is part of the cast of the new Chucky tv series,premiering tomorrow(Sept,12) on Syfy and USA.
"This feels more like a Mystery Science Theatre movie." Yep. That is how you have to enjoy this one. I admit it, I thoroughly enjoy this movie. It is dumb as hell and bad. But I can always watch this. It is pure fun. And I'd glad this ended the series and not Jason goes to hell. That frozen head kill is amazing!!!!
Jason X was clearly intended to be a B-movie slasher film. They knew exactly what they were making and aren't afraid to ham it up. They took the absurdity of later Halloween sequels, added the quips from Nightmare on Elm Street, and the more 'inquisitive' Jason portrayed by Kane Hodder.
Once again, you guys don't disappoint!!! I feel like I'm rewatching all these movies with a couple of friends. I love this movie!!! It's not a good movie...at all. It's a fun ass movie though, which may make the experience better than if it was good. I mean, isn't that the job of a movie... to entertain? This one does in spades. Can I make a request? The Texas Chainsaw series...you must!!!
That face freezing kill is one of Jasons best.
I love how most of these actors are 90s/2000s scifi folks. Three of them were in the show Andromeda alone. LOL.

I just love the fact that all these classic horror franchises just turn into horror comedies. Child's Play, A Nightmare on Elm St., Friday the 13th, et cetera...

Of all of these Jason is the only villain that is never the butt of the joke. I could never take Chucky or Freddy seriously after seeing them acting like buffoons, getting their asses handed to them, but Jason has never been someone that you can laugh at his stupidity or clumsyness. He can create "funny" situations around him, but he's always fearsome and menacing af. Even Michael Myers I can't take seriously after that Busta Rhymes kung-fu shtick.

This movie was done because Freddy vs Jason was still in preproduction. The studio, New Line, just wanted to keep Jason on the minds of fans. This movie is also one of the first digitally made movies. It was also the one, because it was done digitally, that allowed the filmmakers to toy around with colors and other effects. It kind of helped many to learn how to work with a digitally shot movie.
It's also the least edited Friday the 13th movie by the MPAA and on the DVD commentary, the director said they actually enjoyed the movie and felt the gore had purpose which was the filmmakers' intentions anyway.
That machete is probably just as immortal as Jason. That thing has made clean cuts. Without any sign of rust on it. No matter how strong Jason is it should have break so many times
I like to think that it's explainable the same way a plastic drinking straw going through a tree during a tornado is explainable.
Jason X is one of THE BEST movies in the franchise, Great Horror, and the last official adventure for Jason after the events of Freddy vs. Jason, because Jason X is the official continuation to that crossover 💖🌋💖

I like this movie a lot expecially because Kicker (guy crawling on the floor without the bottom half of his body when killed ) was my best childhood friend, unfortunately we live in differnet countries and have very little time to hang around. Love this movie such a classic horror comedy love the way it pokes fun at the tropes of the Ft13 franchise and doesn't take it's self seriously at all.
Also favourite kill is "he's screwed"

it's basically Funhouse Mirror Jason Lives and that's what I love about it
not only does it poke fun at the tropes of the Friday series, for the true fans there are multiple nods and references to the rest of the series
my personal favorite of this is Rowan looking directly at the camera as she says "in the end, it all comes down to money", very much a direct reference to the "some folks got a strange sense of entertainment" line from Jason Lives and arguably even more relevant than that line 🤣

I hated this movie when it first came out but over the years, the funny lines, creative kills and self referential humor have really made me warm up to it.
I loved watching how much fun she had and laughing at so much! This is one of my favorite for the laugh factor too. So glad you did this! Awesome!

There were a couple of plans for a sequel. One would have been just a regular Friday the 13th movie set on earth 2. Another would have had Jason travel through a wormhole and end up back to when his mother was a teenager.

I saw this movie for the first time a number of years ago, and found it funny that Lexa Doig and (Rowan) and Lisa Ryder (KM14 [Kay Em 14] ) kind of had a role reversal from their roles in Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.

This movie was awesome on a different level. If you’re going in expecting a horror movie, you’re going to think it’s stupid but going in as just a fun movie. It’s hilarious and has two of the best kills in the franchise

I definitely believe that where we are in time effects our opinions of older movies. Not to say her critiques weren’t exactly spot on, but the guys reactions always remind of how things used to be 😂 he always expresses his love and joy for these movies and doesn’t point out the obvious cheesy-ness…whereas she does 😂

I would watch Jason X over JGTH any day personally, You know you guys could watch the Hatchet movies, it has Kane Hodder as another Jason-esque slasher in the swamps of Louisiana.
That movie single handedly made be obsessed by fusion type characters/upgraded forms/cyborgs and much much more things that I don't even think they are related to SIMPLY because of Jason visual
