I’ve got the same Fazer, it’s done over 50,000 miles and is still great to ride , I use it all the time and never lets me down and always enjoy riding it , I get to ride loads of bikes, usually I do videos on new Ducati’s which are awesome bikes… but they are not my Fazer … Totally agree it’s an Awesome road bike , enjoyed the video and hearing someone with the same opinion and feelings I get with the bike :)

Picked mine up 5 months ago, 6500 genuine miles on the clock for £1800 in perfect condition. Absolutely love it and your spot on when it comes to the state of the roads in the Uk, it just eats everything, and with it being an older bike makes it feel even better. Out of all of them it’s my favourite. But now I’m stuck because I don’t want to put miles on it 🤣

Yeah. I got em - meaning the racks, Givi, with three hard cases. For me, the position on a bike makes me feel ache here a there - rised handlebars, so solved most of shoulder ache still, I have a custom, lower seat which might be great for a track but my knees and lower back feel it. Short day trips, up to 4h rides are OK for me but longer ones become a pain (in a but and other parts too ;) ). Changing position with a cushion (got AirHawk 2) does some job, but not solved my problems. Never ridden on an original seat, so can't tell about it, but it all sums up between rider hight/posture and motorcycle construction - may feel great but can feel bad as well. I own the bike for over 11 years, my first bike and after watching the video think will keep it (even as a third bike 😄 ).

I have a 2003 model with 42000 miles on clock. I service regular myself and touch wood have never had any issues. At 69 years of age you must appreciate I'm no speed merchant. When cruising sensible i achieve a regular 63mpg contrary to what "official" figures state. I hope i can continue to ride this bike for a good few years yet before having to pass onto someone who will inevitably appreciate and enjoy a remarkable piece of engineering. Ride safe all.

Back to riding after a 12 year break, didn't want to spend a lot of money, bought a 1999 bike with 28000 miles, best bike I've ever owned, I've owned everything from 2 strokes to an RSV1000. ,I've upgraded a lot of bits on my fazer. Best bike you'll ever need. Old school carbs need looked at from time to time but worth it. Mid range is awesome, 2 up a pleasure, bike races on with comfort. My Fazer is the best bike I have ever owned and I've been riding for 40 years. My friends have modern bikes like MT07 etc and my fazer smokes them in every sphere . Long and short rides. Downside is when your swapping parts out you get a lot of bolts snapping. Heavy clutch, headlights are like candles, gear change 1st to second needs the boot but once you get used to it it's a blast, oh and an upgrade of lights on the clocks need upgraded, £20 on ebay sorted that out, simple to install and light up like a Christmas tree so no leaving your Indicators on. Hope this helps.

    • @papatorr3669
      @papatorr3669 6 месяцев назад

I find it very difficult that a Fazer 600 (Fz6) "smokes in every sphere" an MT07 etc! I mainly ride bikes between the mid '80s to the mid-2000s. I'm guessing that the FZ6 is a will balanced all around sporty bike. Heck, I have an FZ1 and I looked at the specs on the FZ6 but decided my Hornet 919 was about the same weight and out performed it as you say in a sphere. I'd like to hear specifically how your Fz6 outperformed an MT07. I had the similar Bandit 600S and similar SV650 to compare and although I liked the Bandit it didn't outperform the SV650 except as a commuter and everyday rider and comfort.

Love your review you did an exemplary overview of this bike and of how it feels to ride!
I actually have one myself that I bought some 10 years ago with around 50.000miles on the odometer as my first bike.
Never got to sell it eaven though I currently ride a Tracer 900 GT that I bought to do big rides with friends across europe.
I find the Fazer an awesome bike to ride. The analogue factor in it is something we can't find in modern bikes and this one rests in my garage waiting to be fully restored one day.
In my opinion this is one of the best pre-classic gems to still be found and dully appreciated. Keep these videos coming!

I was looking how to replace my carburetor manifolds when your video popped up. I have a 1999 in black with 32.000 kmh, I have to say that I am in my 40's now and married with two kids and during my midlife crisis I bought the FZS 600 to get back into my youth of motorbikes. I have to say the Power for me is way more than I was expecting considering when you look at the specs on paper and you drive it in real they are two different things. I must be getting old or being more aware that I am no longer in my 20's and speed isn't everything but just enjoying the ride. Good video production and seeing you interested in 90's style of bikes.

Bought a 2002 version with 38k miles on it a few years ago as a first bike. I'm almost at 70k now. Carbs were leaking after 55k. Pretty cheap fix. I checked valves at 60k and everything was fine. My friends have multiple bikes. One for touring a differnt one to have a little bit of fun. Sure... the Ninja 650 from 2022 feels more modern or the s1000r from 2017 packs a lot of features. The Fazer is a great allrounder! My friend with the BMW payed 2000€ just for the big service while I can ride without worrying about anything. It is so cheap. Even if my engine dies I might just put a replacement engine in. From my road trips it received a scratch here or there which is pretty sad but atleast it doesn't change the value of the bike significantly. I change all fluids, brakes, chain, tyres frequently and it has never let me down.

I went back to biking after a 30 year gap DUCATI Hyperstrada 821 and it took quite a while to bet used to, poor fuelling low down and got battered by wind so I sold it and got a 2003 Foxeye Fazer. High mileage at 50000 but these bikes can do well over 100000 and keep going they’re hard as nails. I spent the winter tarting it up and serviced it etc. As soon as I ride this bike I knew it was the one , so easy to ride and comfortable, plenty of grunt when you wind it up and really easy to work on yourself. Be careful if your buying super low mileage as they don’t like being sat around doing nothing, carbs will gum up and rear shock on high milage may need upgrading, I’m changing mine but even at 50000 miles this bike is still a winner , taking it to Spain soon.

40 years riding lots of bikes. Currently riding a 2003 Fazer 600. One of the 2 best bikes i have owned, with the CBR 600. The fazer is still very actual for engine, frame, suspension. Also comfort is great allowing for long trip. ABS is of course missing but brakes really do the job. No traction control or top end electronic but not needed in my opinion since power is delivered very smootly, which made this bike safe to ride, even in rainy condition or at good pace for experienced driver.

A great review. I´m in my sixties and have had bikes all my life. And now I have real problem finding something I like. I just cant´t find the touch with modern bikes. Borrowed a FZS 600 from a friend of mine I must agree to everything you say. Not the least on how modern bikes behave on "modern" crappy roads (Finland). Many good details from different perspectives with a sense of experience. Once again, a great review.

They dyno'd at c. 85 wheel HP, so Yamaha's claim of 95 crank is pretty honest. I had a 1999 in silver for 5 years (bought new). Some time in, when it was well loosened up, I wrapped myself around it (in leathers) and got the needle just nudging150MPH (long run-up on a deserted M-way, no gradient or wind)) which I reckon must have been a genuine 140+. The Scott Oiler fitted from new maybe helped. ETA >> mine 'chattered' below 2000RPM when rolling on until I adjusted the throttle position sensor (ignoring the spec) to make the ignition think it was further open and it was much improved. Also discovered I had the infamous backed-off engine sprocket nut when I went to replace it at c. 15K but thankfully no damage done (still had the original chain when I sold it at 22K, less than a cm of stretch in that entire time courtesy of the Scott Oiler, which I cranked up in the rain). ETA 2 >> what you say about the 'reassuring' amount of flex in the chassis was exactly the way I felt about it (nothing like the ridiculous corkscrewing and weaving that pre-1990's Japanese multis used to do of course).

    Hi
My fazer has vibration between 5500-6300, it is exactly where I cruise at around 70mph in 6th gear. Below or above no problem. Could anybody suggest why? Regularly serviced. New oil and filter, new sparkplugs, ignition coils with leads, carbs cleaned thoroughly and balanced. One thing I noticed is if I hold onto the rubber spark plug caps and touch the valve cover too with the same hand I feel slight shock as the spark pulls through. I will get new plug caps very soon... but can it cause that vibration? or clutch related maybe?
    any help appreciated...

I'm on my second one of these, both were '99. I commute with it all year round, it rarely lets me down. Mine has done over 48,000 miles, including trips from the south coast right up to Scotland in a single ride, and the clock has been known to touch 135 (in certain completely legal areas). This thing regularly covers 200 miles on a tank if you're not thrashing it. I'd keep it forever if I want moving to London at the end of the year. ULEZ would ruin me so it's time for a more recent bike 😢
