    UPDATE: Apex responded with a comment on this video on February 7th, but for some reason, it's not showing up under the video itself, only on my creator dashboard. I'm not sure if this means the comment was deleted, perhaps because I reacted to it on the last livestream, but I won't allow that. I'll be editing the live reaction to upload it on the channel, but through that livestream you can clearly see that it's an actual comment left by the company's official YT account.
    I'm going to paste the entirety of the comment here for posterity. Not to spoil the reaction too much, but be warned, aside from the lameness of their completely reactionary approach to making things right for customers they've wronged (squeaky wheel gets the grease type stuff), there are several blatant lies throughout. I don't suppose that should come as much of a surprise. Read the full comment below and reply to let me know what you think!
    -Brae
    =====
    _"Dear Braethorn and The Larger Community,
    We want to first and foremost thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. We wholeheartedly understand that Apex Gaming PCs has several areas it needs to improve now and in the future.
    We are already working on making changes to products, pricing, and photographs on the website.
    We do however want to take the time to address three major areas of concern.
    On a few occasions concerns have been raised that we sell used PC parts in new PC builds. We are unsure if these concerns are being raised due to the complicated nature of our Refurbished PC line which we have since removed from our website entirely. Nevertheless, we want to ensure the community, and our customers, that all of the parts we sell in our PCs are always new.
    We did unfortunately deal with a situation in early 2023 in which a number of Peladn GPUs sold to us as new and shipped through Newegg were determined to be used. We immediately informed all customers that may have been affected within 72 hours of the discovery and provided multiple options to replace those GPUs.
    We understand that the risk we took on a little known GPU manufacturer in 2023 was a mistake, but as a growing company we also understand the need to support new companies in the computer hardware industry. Rest assured, that mistake will not be repeated.
    We also understand that our order lead times have been terrible for most of 2022 and 2023. There is no excuse for this, and we are genuinely sorry. We are actively working to provide all customers with lead times less than 2 weeks prior to 03/31/2024. This initiative has been in place since April of 2023. As a growing business it has always been a challenge to deal with scale, and we are adjusting with every month that goes by to adjust to our new order volume.
    We would also like to address the pricing concern, as well as our sales. This year we ran a holiday sale that was scheduled to last from Nov 7th to Feb 14th, which was 25%. However in 2023, there were several periods where no sale was active or a 5%, 10% or 15% sale were active. We understand that this may cause confusion, and does create a certain stigma and as such have addressed that concern by removing any and all sales and discount codes, and adjusting prices accordingly.
    Finally, to any and all of our customers who do not feel they were fairly treated, we will be reaching out via RUclips to gather more information and to assist you in any way possible to ensure that your experience ends up being satisfactory. Under no circumstances do we wish to leave any customer unhappy.
    We are happy to respond to any questions you have, or to any customers who feel as though they were not treated satisfactorily."_

    You sir could not be more right. I bought my first ever gaming PC in December of 2022 from Apex. Nearly 2 months later my PC finally arrived after so much back and forth I can’t begin to guess how many employees I spoke with. My rig cost over $3000. The website at the time specifically stated that they will not use parts from brands you’ve never heard of, or apex branded parts. My PC finally arrived with a Peladn GPU, no that’s not a typo. And apex branded AIO and PSU. Overall a terrible experience all because I rushed to buy before doing my research, I only wish I had discovered your channel earlier. Thank you for saving others from making the same mistakes I did. LISTEN TO THIS MAN.

    I've been gaming on my Alexander PC for almost a year now. Every day for several hours. Cyberpunk path traced, Hitman III max settings, Forza 5 max settings, all of this output to a 50" 4K display.
    ZERO issues. Not one. It shipped when they said it would ship. It came with the parts they said it would come with. It worked like they said it would.
    You recommended them to me. I took your advice, paid the extra cash for the best GPU available at the time and didn't regret it at all.

    With so many youtube build videos out there showing you literally every single step of the build, id recommend building your own! You can find one that fits your budget and just order the same parts, then assemble it while watching the build guide! Thats what i did for my first ever build and that PC Is still running absolutely amazing 8 years later, and has had literally zero issues.

  • @amberchandler116
    @amberchandler116 8 месяцев назад +6

    I wish I saw this before my Apex Gaming PCs build. There are so many issues it would likely take me over an hour to write them all down. My computer has been in the repair shop longer than I've had it... and I purchased it over six months ago. OVER HALF A YEAR AND THE PC STILL DOESNT WORK!
    - They wired the power supply incorrectly... thank god I had a good surge protector because the PC likely could have caused a fire, or at least some further damage. The surge protector no longer works after the PC crashed and would no longer boot or even turn on (because of the power supply issues). I have had to replace every single component in the PC besides the mother board and graphics card and i'm STILL having issues. The issue with these components were likely down to the power supply which corrupted my ram and fried my processor.
    - It has crashed repeatedly in empty maps in Planet Zoo, opening a single google chrome tab, etc. My 7 year old mid-tier PC is better than this nearly $5000 (not even counting the replacement parts) "high-end" paperweight at this point.
    -I've been lied to by every customer service representative I've spoken to, email and over the phone.
    - They built my pc with components from brands I've never even heard of - and they did not match the brands that my spec sheet says (the specific brands that I was told I purchased according to the website). I have never heard of the brand of my power supply before, and it wasn't one of the options that was listed on their website for purchase.
    -They overcharged me for the cooler. They charged $500 for a corsair AIO cooler, which I found the exact same one on Amazon brand new for less than $300.
    -
    I've contacted the Better Business Bureau which unfortunately didn't help much, but at least my experience hopefully gets out there for more to hear so they NEVER have to go through what I had.

    my best friend worked there for about six months, he said it was a horrible experience and the employees weren't treated or paid the best and they would change payment methods all the time, and apperently they use used parts in "new" builds. And the boss is over here driving a bmw and going on vacation all the time while the employees are getting paid scraps, and they had a you break it you buy it policy, my friend got a tiny absolutely miniscule scratch on a 4090 and had to pay for it, then got laid off. The kicker is, that he didn't even get to keep it, he's better than me because I would have walked out with it if it's coming out my paycheck. there's probably more dirt, but I don't remember it all.

    Ordered a top of the line pc from Apex Dec 27, 2023. Customer service is non existent, won't return calls and when writing emails you get a generic response of awaiting parts. When I did get someone to talk to me, I was told that it should be in the build queue shortly. That was 2 weeks ago. Then I get an email stating that I really really should upgrade for another $1300 to expand my liquid cooling system since I had ordered a 4090 video card (Liquid cooling system already on order) When I declined, they said it is still in the build queue. Sure wish I would have known this was a fraudulent company before purchase.

      One company does not represent the whole industry. At 25:08 I mention that I don't like to make negative videos for this reason. PCDIY gatekeepers like to point at a video like this and make comments like, "SEE, I WAS RIGHT ABOUT ALL PRE-BUILTS," but Apex is the worst of the bunch, and it's not even close. If you want to go DIY, I encourage that! In fact, it's one of the disclaimers I put in every SIW episode. However, when I say one company is the worst, don't let them be the deciding factor if you're not quite comfortable with the idea of DIY yet. Most PC building enthusiasts started with a pre-built like I did, and it can work for you too :)

Again, I do think this was because of the RUclips collaboration.

    In normal market conditions, 4K should easily get you a 4090 and an I9/R9, but even accounting for the current conditions, 4K for an I5 and 4070 is absolutely obscene. The only pre-builts worth it are dell precisions! I got a T3600 and it's from 2013 and still works great and is built good. Even got a CPU upgrade from a fan of my music and it does even more awesome!

    • @braethorn
      @braethorn  10 месяцев назад

      Sorry, but I fundamentally cannot agree with you on that. Hear me out.
      The main thing is that you make it an absolute. Instead of saying, "the only pre-builts worth it *for me* are ____," you make it seem as though everyone has the same needs and priorities you do. It's fine if you have a preference, but you can't claim that everyone will find the same *subjective* value you do in one brand or another without being incorrect 99% of the time.
      Beyond that, I'm certain that I will never _ever_ recommend a Dell system over something from a reputable system integrator. OEM (like Dell, HP, and Lenovo) vs SI (like Falcon Northwest, Ironside Computers, and Origin PC) isn't even close in my estimation. Proprietary hardware (power supplies, motherboards, CPU coolers, etc.) that can't be easily replaced or upgraded with off-the-shelf components, predatory practices such as hidden charges and unwanted warranties that have been demonstrated MULTIPLE times by secret shoppers, and the sheer refusal to get EMI certification on new enclosures that forces them to use 20-30 year old chassis that cannot hope to provide adequate cooling to modern hardware without stepping down the performance, something they've been caught doing by Gamers Nexus. Not only that, they're not even the cheapest option for enterprise systems!
      As an admittedly extreme example, the Dell Precision 7875, when built with the 96 core Threadripper 7995WX, comes in at a whopping $37,522.34. Conversely, Falcon Northwest, arguably the most reputable system integrator there out there, charges $22,868.00 for a similarly spec'd system, with non-proprietary parts, an in-house designed enclosure that destroys Dell in terms of cooling, low noise levels, and build quality (it's built like a frickin tank), an included 3/3 year parts/labor warranty, and free overnight shipping both ways for the first year if an RMA is needed, the list goes on. It's a superior system in every measurable and *objective* way. More importantly for some, if you call them for tech support...someone in the US picks up the phone. A system like this from FNW was featured recently on an LTT video. I suggest you check it out.
      A lot can change in 11 years. Brand loyalty can be fine in moderation, but be sure to compare prices and reviews. It would seem Dell relies on that loyalty to keep their return customers from actually comparing them to the competition, because they know they fell behind years ago.

      @@braethorn is falcon northwest like cyberpower pc tho.. ??cuz my cyberpower systems didn't last very long and needed stuff replaced a lot... if I were to use consumer parts I'd build it myself...
      At the time my system made more sense cuz I got mine used and at the time was the best value for me I would never buy those brand new... I'm saving up for the rest of the components for a ryzen 7 system I'll build myself later this year...

    Brae, I understand your frustration with Apex, but as bad as their PC specs may be, I think iBuypower is still the King of Crap. I bought a iBuypower BB993 to replace my wife's dying PC (this is the first PC that I bought instead of building in over 27 years). I'm replacing the BB993's dying AIO unit tomorrow (the factory AIO is legendary for being a worthless POS). Hopefully, it will not only resolve the rattling & spastic temperature, but also maybe the random BSODs. If not, then I have to re-test & possibly replace the crummy ADATA SIMMs and/or the ADATA SSD. If that doesn't resolve the problems, I'll build a new one for my wife, which I should have done to begin with!

    • @braethorn
      @braethorn  10 месяцев назад

      I can likewise understand your frustration, sorry that happened to your wife's PC! Judging by that SKU, I'm guessing that you purchased your system from Best Buy, right? My advice has always been to purchase directly from the SI instead of a third party retailer unless you have no other choice (like planning to purchase using a BB credit card). Here's why.
      Huge corporations like Amazon and Best Buy put system integrators (not just IBP) in a position where they HAVE TO cut corners in order to provide systems by the hundreds or thousands with the specs and profit margin required by those retailers. This has slowly been improving over time, and eventually you might be able to expect the same quality at a retailer, but that time hasn't come quite yet. I've discussed this disparity in depth in previous videos. If you feel like it shouldn't be that way, I promise you, I agree 100%, but that's the way it is.
      Aside from that, as far as I know, IBP is aware of issues with certain AIOs and unless I'm mistaken, they've been switching to sourcing their AIOs primarily from DeepCool. DC is well known for making reliable units with excellent price to performance and a low failure rate. I've used them many times myself. Aside from that, because I've recommended buying direct from the SI since very early on, almost all of the feedback from the members of my community who have purchased from IBP has been very positive. There will always be outliers, but if you buy from a third party retailer, keep in mind that ANY system will have corners cut to increase profit margin for those retailers, something SIs are not exactly happy to do judging by my conversations with them.
      Anyway, I don't think your situation quite compares to the experiences shared by Apex customers (watch the comments/rant portion of the video if you want to see what I mean), but I know that won't exactly make you feel any better about your situation. Let me know if the cooler upgrade helps!

    I dont think people should buy prebuilts ever at all, way overpriced. I get that people just want to buy a pc and it works, but building a pc is super easy, if you can figure out legos or that toddler toy with the star and the square with the holes, you can build a PC. Also if you have $3000+ to spend on a PC, the last thing you should do is buy a prebuilt. You can build a totally maxed out pc hardware wise for that.

    • @braethorn
      @braethorn  10 месяцев назад +2

      I think people should get into PC gaming however they want to, whether DIY or paying extra for a pre-built from a reputable company, without facing unnecessary and unhelpful judgement from complete strangers who get their kicks by gatekeeping on the ONE yt channel that's dedicated to actually helping pre-built buyers.
      Roughly 70% of PC hardware purchased per year is through pre-builts. That's not going to change anytime soon. Try learning which companies you can recommend instead of making derisive comments comparing them to toddlers or whatever.

    Bro, chill! 😂 It's just art on their website. It's not supposed to be taken so literally. I'm sure everyone who goes there to buy one of their PCs already knows. Football being so hypocritical of art on their webpage is a little bit ridiculous. I'm a graphic designer, and I work for companies all the time, making exaggerated art like that for them. It's supposed to be imaginative, as if the computer is taking you to another world. It's not supposed to be taken figuratively. That's what creativity is all about. You act like they're the only company who has art like that for their marketing. I'm not saying I support or condone any of their business practices, but you can't act like they're the only company who does this. Literally, the Super Bowl has over-exaggerated commercials like this all the time. I appreciate what you're doing, man, but you're acting like this is the end of the world. Again, I'm not saying I support what they're doing, but that's literally what marketing is: exaggerated advertising to try to get consumers to buy what they're selling. I do agree with you that they aren't being honest in a lot of other ways, but you're literally criticizing just art.

    • @braethorn
      @braethorn  10 месяцев назад

      I get where you're coming from, and since you're a graphic designer you'll understand when I say it's EASY to put an AI generated background behind an image of the actual product, which is what Apex should have done instead. If a company dedicated to building computers just uses AI generated images and pictures from the case manufacturer's website, I don't believe that SI can produce good looking PCs. Whether it's a budget PC or a top of the line system, it's a big investment to the individual consumer. They should be able to see what they're buying, or at least something that doesn't resemble what a five year old thinks a gaming PC should look like.
      I know other companies do this kind of thing. That's not my concern. No other system integrators do this, and for good reason.
