    ✰ About Me ✰
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about disability, neurodiversity and what its like living with Tourette's Syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Orthostatic Hypotension. Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition causing involuntary movements called tics.
I use my social media (TikTok, RUclips and Instagram) to advocate and raise awareness for my conditions and show what it is like living with a disability as a neurodivergent person.
I am also autistic and share my sensory struggles along with my experiences with mental health disorders.
I show what its like having a disability and the accomodations I have to help my daily life. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user showing my life using mobility aids and how chronic illness symptoms change from day to day!
I am also a musician with a popular song called "She's Mine" available on all streaming services - I wrote, produced, mixed and mastered all my songs myself! I am also an artist and a writer. I love reading and I'm currently writing a novel and a book about my life!

Speaking as someone who has struggled with a pretty serious case of Tourette's for over 40 years (broken & torn just about every bone and tendon in my body) every case is uniquely different and I can say with absolute certainty that I don't tick in my sleep in fact when the ticks get really bad because of a bad cold or serious stress, the only absolute Blissful moments of my day are those 60 seconds to a minute when I first wake up & open my eyes, after that it's like a slow moving train gaining to full speed!

    • @TheCgOrion

As a person with tics I used to sleep with my mom when my dad would work night shifts. My mom did tell me not too long ago that I did have tics when I was asleep. She said it was basically the same as when I was awake.

If stress increases tics, I wonder if setting up something to monitor sleep tics could increase your physical tension or emotional stress, and artificially cause tics that might not have happened otherwise.

Hi, I don't have Tourette's but a family member I'm very close to does. We've spent the night together just for fun since we're like siblings and for them I can say that they usually don't tic in their sleep. Their tics can get pretty bad at times (ex: slamming their fist against something or shouting), but yeah, I think it just depends from person to person.

  • @joshmaurer1724

My best guess is since people without a diagnosis like this or similar can talk in their sleep or sleep walk, etc. I'd find it possible this to could happen while your sleeping. That's just my guess could be wrong or maybe not. Just tossing out my hypothesis.

anecdotal answer: my best friend as a kid used to say "i could tell you were *actually* asleep [instead of faking it or 'resting my eyes'] because you weren't ticcing :3" and idk why but that always pissed me off. i never liked people drawing attention to it because 99% of the time it was negative and they were making fun of me.
(i don't tic anymore - usually. it was 1000000% worse as a kid, in my case.)
(also anecdotal: smoking weed has always made my tourettes fade into the background and i really think that has a lot to do with how [not why] i """grew out of it""" [heavy air-quotes because it was an entire mental process that won't work for everybody])

is far as i know the brain kinda deactivates body movements during sleep so you won't actually physically do things you see in your dream
if this deactivation fails you sleepwalk
and if your body is still in the sleeping mode but you are awake and conscious you have a sleep paralysis

For most people, tics lessen when we’re focused, so they might not be as bad when driving. However this isn’t for all cases, I’m sure some people do have difficulty driving. And furthermore not all tics would interfere, so some people would be completely fine. Hope that makes sense.
