NOT AN ENGINE BUT A MOTOR!
What's the difference? (Non-native speaker here)
@@Maximk0White
The Difference is that a Motor runs on Electric Power only, an Engine runs on some sort of Fuel that combust.
@@Zeaiclies thnx😊
@@Maximk0White
Welcome and no worries.
😎🍻
@obimk1104
What does that even mean?
I was correct and factual and then you are taking a dig at me or something.
lol wow, someone has low self esteem, and it seems to be the Automotive engineering person.
The last few decades we are hearing over and over again about the new and revolutionary batteries or engines, but we are still using the same old technology. So I am very sceptical
Koenigsegg has already created a combination of radial and axial flux motor called the quark that produces 330 hp and is 8.4 kilos over a year ago.
They even released the "Dark matter"-electric motor with 800hp and 1250nm of torque with the launch of the Gemera
And already didn’t do it right apparently. It has to actually be viable, not just possible.
@@AtomicPixels agreed! Was the first airplane viable or the first light bulb? In fact the first light bulb only lasted for 14 hours and was considered a small miracle.
Innovation = buy out an innovative small company.
Concept of this design has been around since early computers. Floppy disk drives and hard disk drives have been using this motor design since mid '80s. As FrankBell points out, it was referred to as a printed circuit motor.
As long as the socalled EVs depend on lithium batteries they will never be the standard for humans.
Is this a Mercedes car ad?😂 Of course, you realize that Axial motors have been around sometime now and used in different applications. The problem I believe actually, is mass manufacturability at cost.😅
True, Axial motors are not a new "thing" but this type that was introduced by its designer Yasa is a game changer.
And it is still a battery car still powered by fossil fuels!!!
I don't. The reliability is piss poor and the design years behind Audi!
Electric cars were made in the late 1800s
Konigsegg: Hold my beer!
100 year old electric motor concept finally gets into production. Hmmm
how are you gonna make a video about EVs and use the word powertrain 3 or more times when referring to an EV?
Imagine combining an Axial Flux Motor with Solid-State batteries, we’d literally get rid of the majority of problems that EVs have!
Except the production issues associated with both of them. But when they are available, we can charge them using fusion reactors...
Except the problem of having a Fusion reactor. 😂
@@Zeaiclies Just like how I can't find the million like button , to press for your comment
@@bernhardleopold6702😊
@@bernhardleopold6702 Lol, we are at least 50 years or more from creating efficient Fusion reactor, if any
There not the one that designed this motor, they paid for the rights to use it. The big question is when can people get their hands on the same type of motor.
The announcer keeps calling a motor an engine an engine is combustion
a motor is electro magnetic
Mercedes CEO: “This New Engine Will DESTROY The Entire Car Industry!” It will destroy nothing because price.
A gasoline motor can be a motor, OR an engine.
But, an electric motor is Always a motor. Never an Engine
That form of car will never be sold.
It's been 4 weeks. Why haven't they built a demo car and tested it?
What would be revolutionary is Mercedes Benz manufacturing a car an average person could afford.
😢
I really want a Benz 😢😢
V111 doesn’t seem to have wipers! Fair whether only? Also that extreme windshield rake will be a haze of opaque white once road film gets onto it with a low Sun.
HMmmmmm? Didn't about 350 new Mercedes cars go up in flames on a cargo ship a few days ago??? They were electric.
I can remember years ago on tomorrow’s world they had something like this a car with a electric motor in all four wheel,
The electric motors where about as big as a large dinner plate and about 3 or 4 inches wide .
The concept is fine, but controlling the different speeds during steering is almost impossible to achieve safely and without causing an accident if anything went wrong. 2 motors, each driving front and rear differentials is far safer and more reliable.
High tech non-solutions are a pain in the butt.
Mercedes-Benz didn't come up with axial motor. They bought another company called YASA that were already making axial motors.
Madali Lang Naman ang axial flux..wala Naman pinag kaiba Yan..halimbawa SA tatlong plate, Yung SA gitna andon Yung winding, dilendi Yan SA winding, Yung dalawa kanan man o kaliwa Yun Yung may magnet, dilpendi na Kung ilang magnet ilagay...ang dali Diba?
Are there exclamation points after every sentence?
I really see nothing to jump up and down about. An axial fix motor develops about 30 to 40 % more torque than a radial flux motor. But it has gap problems and heating problems. If Mercedes have managed the tolerances to achieve this, with the provision it did not cost more than a radial torgue motor. Good for them, but nothing mind blowing. Just the steady development of electric motors.
what you mean in: "giving the people, what they want", if vision1-11 will be limited-run hyper-car?
Saab did this long time Ago
Ane what does it exactly????
They haven't made a great car since they stopped making the W123. The 111 doesn't look like it will be any good in the snow.
W126 was their greatest success story and agree the W123, W124, W126 are still highly sought after today by car classic enthusiasts across the globe
Yeah well, it’s a fully graphics rendered infomercial for a pipe dream, I’ll cheerfully give up beer for Lent if anything even slightly similar hits the road within at least 5 years.
It wouldn’t get down the road to my farm in the dry, let alone snow, with that ground clearance. 😂
If its electric then its a motor, not an engine. An Engine utilizes heat to produce work.
Who knew Mercedes were so modest, its amazing they invent anything considering how much time it takes to do their hair in the morning.
Lol!
A name previously used for such motors was a printed circuit motor as one form of construction.
but they use YASA motors. not even Siemens.
Koenigsegg first not Mercedes
Err . . Errr . has this technology be applied to electrical power generation ?
MERCEDES BENZ
This is Not an ingine ! It's a moter ! A moter needs outside energy an engine creates its own
An electric motor takes electric potential energy and turns it into kinetic energy. A conventional ICE does the same but starts from chemical potential energy instead. Both require an outside source and are thus engines. Nothing "creates energy" that's why you have to put fuel in your tank or charge your battery.
I want vidio on sodium ion batery
Sure, Why not!
But does it have the ‘Flux Capacitor’? 😊
How about all wheel drive and all wheel steeling with three of these special wheels, so the car can first go side way either left or right and then the driver cabinet can roll and turn horizontally to face that direction gracefully and view it as the forward driving direction.
Ball wheel drive would be cool.
Come to Berlin, wie have "All Wheel Steeling" hier since long time
Sounds like an axial flux motor whose magnets were iron nitride would be even better.
I'm not too fond of the repair cost, or dependability😢
This electric motor has not even been released and it has already "taken over the whole industry"? There are positive and negative aspects of the various motor designs. I also know that Elaphe who makes hub motors for the Aptera, has been working with both types. Mercedes marketing spiel, take with a grain of salt.
……will destroy the ´Entire ´ Car industry……….! Brake man Brake………!
Can Mercedes-Benz sell cars at 5000 to 10,000 for a rechargeable electric car with range of 1000 miles and a top speed of 100 miles an hour, get fully charged in 30 minutes on a regular 5 amperes, 220 volts AC point? When they can do that, the world would be interested.
Several times a week someone says a different motor brakes, destroys, dominates The car industry. let up with the click bate and produce content that matters.
They are not new, 100 + years old, Mercedes bought YASA, a U.K. company, that had the tech.
I always knew someone would come up with the Flux Capacitor.
Are there any plan to use it in EV aircraft?? It seems on the face of it to be a perfect fit for the new AirLander for example or any other of the different types which are still being developed??
not a commercial big one ...because of the batteries(too much weight)
Yes, YASA has an EV aircraft spinoff called "Evolito." They are co-located at the location of Yasa.
Nothing "new" about axial motors. The DIY wind turbine community have been building these types of alternator/motors for many years now. I've even built a mini 5 1/2" dia. Version myself but still haven't been able to get the 15 coils done yet but because I used sprockets and mounted the 20 stacks of 5 magnets inside of the sprockets teeth i will be able to easily use it as a motor instead of an alternator but most likely will be doing bolth as the sprockets match bicycle chain size and that small size would make a great chain ring replacement and would remove the need for freewheeling it for pedals but then it would be a scooter not a bicycle.
$0.02
My DIY DISABILITY SCOOTER can do 37 mph and had descent range but the 12" front wheel makes it very scary on all but the smoothest of surfaces and because I could only afford nockoff B/D yard tool 40 volt batteries they have been failing and I'm down to about 8-10 left from the 21 that are still charging up and I now don't live where there is a nice green belt to ride around and I still have to make my own power being I'm off grid without power, water or even a refrigerator at this point in my messed world of a surviving not living life.
NOT FOR ME! NEED SOMETHING BETTER.
It is a MOTOR, not an Engine!
Not that great after all lol 😂. Cost is very important for main stream commercial application!
Which car company wins the race 🚀
Yahh and what could super High end Fluxing Ultra caps do. My bet is delivering unbelievable energy densities to Electric drive systems. That is the question you should be looking at.
drag race with lucid Air, to prove its motor is faster then...
amazing to know it
8 electro- magnets vs. 6 electro - magnet
It;s a British designed motor that Mercedes bought out.
That's a LOT of hype. Let me know when they make more than 200 of this.
You know that's all fine and dandy building cars that people cannot afford that's not essential how much does cars in a cost another 900,000
Sounds like a research project
300S?L. Yes, an icon, but just look at those swing axles on the rear.

Why do you call a motor and engine?
Engine is a collective term
- Gas Turbine is an engine.
- Two stroke petrol is an engine.
- Four stroke propane is an engine.
- Heat driven Stirling is an engine.
- Compress air driven rotator is an engine.
- Of course, electric driven rotator is also an engine.
having the name Top Electric then start calling motors engines lol
Engine is the wrong name to give an electric motor. Engines are used to burn fuel.
I understand and I see the superior quality of MERCEDES Company I have all respect for the intelligence of Mercedes Company but let's have respect for who are admire you and we should not use in our vocabulary Destroy , ..... SIMPLE IS NOT NICE AND INTELLIGENCE......WHAT YOU DO DO IT IN RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER ...... THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING ....
WITH ALL RESPECT FOR SCIENCE KNOWLEDGE AND RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER
The guy conflates motors and engines, not a good sign.
No wonder mercedes sales are down over 30 percent.
Considering the reviews of Mercedes I'm skeptical this company can produce one that is reliable and affordable.
Mercedes is not a car for broke people. You still dont get it???
lets be honest. i dont want to overpay for a mercedes
This is not some new technology or innovation! This type of motor has been used in the commercial and recreational drone industry for many years. Mercedes just took that same technology and scaled it up!
Whoever is talking don't know the difference between an engine and a motor
it looks like a motor used in computer storage devices.
Wow! The wizards of the technological culdesac.
PLEASE STUDY THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MOTOR AND AN ENGINE
I predict that 4 months after this video this channel will make another video named, This Water Engine "Will DESTROY The Entire Car Industry!"
Just another engine no need to depreciate anything
They're a new they're not perfected yet don't get ahead of yourself
BLAH BLAH BLAAH.....JUST BUILD IT! Too much talk! Just walk the walk LIKE WHAT TESLA DOING😂
Very good publicity Promotion, but if you squeeze the lemon, nothing new in the electrical world of electric motors design, construction or configuration.
OK I subscribe the advertainment.
I will keep my MB 300SD 1983, ML350 2008 instead!
An electric motor is not an ENGINE !!!!!!!!!!!
This voice over is OTT!
yeah, but make it work with a manual...let's see that.
It sure takes a long time to go from the lab to production. Yasa was a brilliant investment, as they are way ahead in axial flux engineering. Mercedes is such a conservative firm, that i expect them to wait several more years until it is proven. Mercedes didn't switch to rack and pinion until many years after the other companies. One problem with axial is that you have 4 motors instead of 2. This is an advantage and disadvantage. I would estimate by 2030 axial will be commonly used. So much lighter.
😂😂😂 20 more years it's will be on road 😂😂😂 right
So it's a non viable electric motor that will destroy the entire car industry. That would be a good trick. considering Mercedes can't sell the EV's they produce now.
USE MEANS USE. AGE AFTER IT ADDS NOTHING OR IN YANK OUGHTING😢
Destroy who? The maintenance guy?
They did not invent this motor.
Mercedes allready destroy all of his models. Why not the whole car industry. New cars suck!!!
”Destroy The Entire Car Indusry” - Oh, BTW, Will online be installera in 111 Cars…😂
Who Is gone be fooled it's an electro motor still need power source it need Battery + power plant 😂😅🤣👍👌
And, more importantly, will you be able to afforrd one?
Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Benz... when other companies take risks and really change the electric vehicle industry, Mercedes is able to change the leather in the cabin to eco-leather only. A pathetic sight and pathetic company.
Axial flux is not new! Nor the concepts.
