In this video I am playing an absolute organ masterpiece, rich in symbolism: the Crucifixion by Marcel Dupré, specifically the third movement of his Symphonie-Passion Op. 23.
In many ways Dupré may be viewed as a Paganini of the organ. Being a virtuoso of the highest order, he contributed extensively to the development of technique, both in his organ music and in his pedagogical works. Not by chance many of the greatest organists who later became world famous have been his students!
Very well known and acclaimed also in the USA, where he accomplished various concert tours.
The concert he gave at John Wanamaker's monumental department store organ, in Philadelphia, on which he improvised what would become this Symphonie-Passion, put his name definitely on the world stage.
I did not record this video at the Consolata Sanctuary organ, but at the Gustavo Zanin organ, located in the Parish of Santa Rita in Turin (Italy).
Here is the tech equipment I’ve used in order to capture this live recording:
DAT recorder Aiwa HD-s1
Microphones Sennheiser K3U + ME80

Bellísima obra que expresa claramente el dolor de Cristo en la cruz, los clavos y la piedad" ( al final),- un gran compositor Marcel Dupre.
Exactly! It is precisely in works of this qualitative caliber that we can well appreciate the importance of symbolism.
Thanks for the comment!
@@OrganoConsolata I love the whole symphony, but the crucifixion for my taste is the best, and even more so these days listening to "Le Chemin de la Croix", also a great work by maestro Dupre, Greetings.
@@polorgansolano5789 Absolutely agree! I know the masterpiece "Le Chemin de la Croix" very well. Next year, during Lent, I'll post some Stations.
Best greetings.
