    • @7QWERTY13
      @7QWERTY13 10 месяцев назад +8

      @@ThaSandwitch It happens because of two rules: One, making a move on your turn is required. Two, moving your king into check(mate) is illegal. So when your king is not already in check, but there are no moves available that won't put your king INTO check, then it is impossible for play to continue, which results in stalemate. It's like an analog game crash.

    • @rikkatakanashi8767

      @@ThaSandwitchKing cant attack each other. In chess, stalemate happens when one player cannot move any of his pieces during his turn. In the video, Miko's queens cover all the legal space around Subaru's king. Since Subaru cannot move his king during his turn, hence its a draw
      To checkmate, the king must be under attack and also cannot possibly move on the next turn. In Subaru's case, the king is not under attack so it is stalemate instead

      @@ThaSandwitch For mate you need two conditions
      1) Opponent king can't move

    • @KnightOfEternity13
      @KnightOfEternity13 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@ThaSandwitch Actually it's a quite common situation even in a game of more experienced players, when they are playing short time controls.
      For that reason, some players could even prefer NOT to promote two queens to avoid accidental stalemate. Although, of course, you can mate using two queens safe and quickly with the right technique.

    • @Hacchi_Hanif
      @Hacchi_Hanif 10 месяцев назад +1

    There is something about a really bad battle that turns epic coming down to the wire that is more entertaining to watch than a good player doing it with ease.

    It takes 50 moves without a capture for there to be a draw. From Miko getting Subaru's last bishop, Miko had 25 moves to beat her while having 1 or 2 Queens for most of said 25 moves.
    It takes a truly Elite chess master to not win

    Guys come on, tbf it's their first time playing while still doing trial and error of what they can and can't do, top that with a fuzzy win condition lol.
