I bought an aloe plant from the discount rack at Lowe's for a dollar a couple of years ago. It's now over 36 inches tall..I put it outside in the summer. It's in a large pot. I'm running out of places to stick it in the winter. I brought it in from the cold tonight. I was looking into cutting it back. Thanks for the video. Mine had a large portion of the stem exposed at one point. It kinda leaned over and about 15 pups grew from the stem. I also have two pups I transplanted over the summer. That are doing well. Located in the US on the East coast,in Maryland. Good luck with everything.
Your spider plant is growing new spider plants!! That's what the new spikes are!! Good luck! I love when my spider plants give out new little ones. The original plant hangs with all the new babies and it looks phenomenal.
Aloe vera grows like a weed for me. Right now my large pot, like yours, is completely packed with baby plants. When I dump the pot out there won't be very much dirt left in the pot. There will be very very few roots on any of the plants and I will just put them in new soil and they will grow. Aloe prefers sandy soil that is not especially fertile. I generally forget to water but when I do I water very thoroughly. I have a large pan under the pot so that I can water generously without worrying about the water running all over the place. Any excess water is quickly soaked up by all the plants. If I touch the leaves and they don't feel firm, that is a sign that the plant needs water.
Thanks for this, I got an aloe in October last year, it was a pretty big start from a huge indoor aloe my husband's friend has, it literally covers a whole dinner table in his house, but this helped me maintain mine and keep it lush and healthy! Thank you, thank you! Oh mine has no pups is that a bad thing?
Plz help love my aloe plant. My aloe.is growin well and has new pup growin in pot. However. I have removed three outsider leaves because had become black at root. I.water every 2wk. Checkin soil 2in below. I make sure it gettin Sun. Is it root rot?.Do need to remove let dry and repot. New pup do leave in original pot? They are small bout in. Aloe isnt brown at all otherwise look healthy. plz.help!!!!!
There are so many natural ways to reduce pests!! :) Soap and water misting, cinnamon around the root of plants, I also use Qtips with alcohol and I clean the leaves! I know youtube has more tips! If you like corn, you can also grown corn!! I did!
Hi there ;) I loved your video. I have really been into aloe vera for about 3 years now. I pull off my legs just like you did and my plant survived fine..I have a question for you...have you cut any of your leafs off about 3/4 the way down? I have and mine still grow back after being half cut off...its funny because I read one it's been cut it stops growing...but mine doesn't...and the yellow juice from the aloe vera is very very strong laxative..its actually poisonous if u have to much..but a tiny bit can help with constipation very well lol... I'm interested to see how your plant went after ripping the leafs off??
Christopher Brandsdal Really I didn't know that😐 I put it in water already n it's been over a week now n I asked a few people but ur the only one who respond... tell me the bad news lol
Christopher Brandsdal I think u might be right😉so what I did was took them out of the water n I'll let it sit out for about a wk... It should be dry by then thx again for ur help👍🏾😬
The older leaves just dry off naturally. It's normal :) Just take them out and repot the aloe in a bigger pot. :) And the little ones should have their own roots by then so you can separate them at that size if you want :)
yes, you can plant it lower to hide the stem as long as the cuts you made are already dry. Otherwise, it might rot. How do the leaves look? If they seem dry on the ends, it's underwatering. If it's turning brown or somewhat yellow and has spots, it might be fungus or rotting. Maybe the roots need more space.
Love the videos! Keep up the great work! I got to ask though, you might have addressed it in previous videos...that carpet..is that real grass or what? It's awesome!
I ordered my Aloe Vera and select it as large it arrived today and it appears to be medium well it's ok and the variety is the chinensis PS: Christopher's aloe Vera is Barbadensis miller
Update on Aloe Vera, please. I would think it would have gotten top-heavy and fell over, no? I almost think the only way to prune an aloe is to chop it down and start over with a pup that is of decent size. Otherwise, won't the aloe keep growing up and up and up if you keep pruning it like that?
My aloe vera plant's conditions look like yours : leaves falling down at the sides , leaves curled inwards and leaves brownish in color. What is the cause? Too much water? Too little water? Or too much sun? Can anyone advice me so that I can save my aloe vera plant?
Also, how did you get your aloe to grow that big that fast? Did you use your usual organic Bio-Grow fertilizer? If so, how much? And is the soil for the aloe your usual soil recipe? Gracias!
Hun you need to take the leaves closest to the bottom first. Need to take it out cut the base. Peel of the leaves each from the bottom first then repot
Hola Christopher! Thank you so much for your videos. I love your set up. Can't wait to see the new things to come. I was thinking, have you tried food grade hydrogen peroxide for your gnat eggs. Look up the ratios. They are different for using it on soil and for using it on foliage. They will kill them. Then set up some gnat traps for the ones flying around. Have you tried this? Am interested to know. Thank you! New sub.
Lol this video is old so it may be fine now but that plant was under watered and needed to be repotted. Also it has like four babies that need new homes too
You should've just taken the whole plant out to take the leaves off ... probably would've been easier haha also, did you know you can cut the "stem" you're left with? New roots will grow from that stub! ☺
You may want to mention Ray (Praxxus55712) who is the originator of the Praxx Cherry. Without his seed giveaway two years ago, you would not currently have any of the plants :)
you need circulation friend. fans to circulate the air. .. also. .do some research regarding "companion" plants.. get some of the companions going that attract the demon thrips, aphis etc~
try and eliminate all bugs before you take them in the house.. also. look for food grade diatomaceous earth to sprinkle on the top of your soils . .. do research on that.. good work
So I needed to prune my aloe Vera didnt know how to do it was following your video ripping my plant leaves off.......then u said u didn't know if it was good for it...... why the hell us this video on

I just bought my very 1st one today. Thank you for all the good advise, this video is very informative. THX.
Make sure you’re only watering it when the soil dries out !
We all make mistakes!!! That's part of learning!! Good Luck. I am sure you will do fine.
Hello Christopher. Nice video, didn't know you should prune Aloe Vera.
LucasGrowsBest I
?
It seemed to work out great. Plant is really helthy now.
Awesome!
Looks like its time to introduce a bigger home!
One leaf is overwatered but the rest are fine. What should I do?
HI,My Niece poke my Aloe vera plant Now i have a hole on each one what do i do?Is it damage?its a large aloe plant.Help anybody. Thanks

Thanks for sharing your experience, Betsy! :-)
Nice video!

They typically grow pups in smaller containers

I would cut back on watering. I water mine no more than once a month. I might consider re-potting.
Is there an update on the aloe vera? Did it get bigger?
Intrested aswell

How is the aloe vera plant doing now, did it survive?
It is now my oldest plant in the growroom! It is HUGE! haha. I will film it soon.

Hi can I replant aloe Vera without the root or let it sit in a glass of water n wait for roots before I plant it
Yes you can, but make sure that the cut has dried before you put it in water or soil. both works.
Christopher Brandsdal Really I didn't know that😐 I put it in water already n it's been over a week now n I asked a few people but ur the only one who respond... tell me the bad news lol
I really do think it needs to be dried for a few days first, but I might be wrong. :-)
Christopher Brandsdal I think u might be right😉so what I did was took them out of the water n I'll let it sit out for about a wk... It should be dry by then thx again for ur help👍🏾😬

This fall it will get a much bigger pot, and it will be part of my "desert display" in the growroom.

Hello, Christopher as always :)
This is very usefull thankyou. My Aloe vera has same problems x
Good luck! :-)
How nice your aloe Vera tree
Please tell me how to care aloe Vera tree????
I pruned mine last year it grew even crazier and don't know what to do next🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I see the hot pepper didn't do you in - the 20 gallon pot sounds good .
Waiting for you to get outside building the green house .
be well my friend
Updates on the greenhouse in the next video or the one after.
Is it so big because of pot size? My Aloe is the same age but still a baby in comparison. Its Given off one baby which is growing separately now
How did your large aloe turn out ? Just done mine 😬
5:46
"It would probably be *prune* to stem rot"
Pun intended?
Did it work though? What does it look like today?
It sure did! The pot I transplanted tinto is completely filled With the main aloe and all the pups. :-) Will feature it in an upcoming program.

If it is brown it can be due to too much sun. Like a purplish brown
RivasMichelle Thanks
Does it stand under grow lights all day and night? How often do u water it?
It's under grow lights 12 hours a day. I water every two weeks.
That is one big Aloe Vera I have seen.
It is quite big now yes.
Im sure you know by now those are the baby spider plants on the vines
Use a really sharp knife to cleanly cut those off! Let the bright yellow bleed off.
Also, how did you get your aloe to grow that big that fast? Did you use your usual organic Bio-Grow fertilizer? If so, how much? And is the soil for the aloe your usual soil recipe? Gracias!
I can't figure out how to shoes you a pic of my bad aloe vera
If you have instagram you can send it to me there. :-)
❤
I always pick off the Baby's so the main one gets larger
that is what i’m gonna start doing. my main stopped growing but they shoot out 8 pups, and i feel like all those pups are draining her..
i have an aloe vera plant in may hause also and i want to see how big the aloe can be...
It can get very large indoors!
my plant grows really bushy already - its diameter exceeds 4 times the pot. I don't know if I should trim it.
How did this plant do after this?
How long did you let it heal?
I'm in a very similar situation. Mine is starting to lean.
The plant is doing fantastic! It did heal for just a few days. Will feature this plant in a video very soon.
@@ChristopherBrandsdal So what does it look like now? Have you made any new videos about it?
Hun you need to take the leaves closest to the bottom first. Need to take it out cut the base. Peel of the leaves each from the bottom first then repot
When repotting the plant, after taking leaves from the base, do I need to plant it deeper and cover the area where I removed the leaves?
Hola Christopher! Thank you so much for your videos. I love your set up. Can't wait to see the new things to come. I was thinking, have you tried food grade hydrogen peroxide for your gnat eggs. You still doing videos?
Whitch country are you from?
Norway. :-)
Did you even search how to do this before hand??
Lol this video is old so it may be fine now but that plant was under watered and needed to be repotted. Also it has like four babies that need new homes too

Cool! I might try to propagate it one day. :-)

if you have lady bugs or other predatory insects available .. let them loose in spring!
We have tons of ladybugs outside in the summer, but hard to keep them indoors.
you need circulation friend. fans to circulate the air. .. also. .do some research regarding "companion" plants.. get some of the companions going that attract the demon thrips, aphis etc~
I have a large wall mounted fan, so there is no need for anything else. Companion planting is something I need to research more.
Nice video I m from pakistan
I live in NY
10:17 You've made a F$%£ING plant VS Zombies creature!
Is that ...
Weed?
try and eliminate all bugs before you take them in the house.. also. look for food grade diatomaceous earth to sprinkle on the top of your soils . .. do research on that.. good work
I have been considering the diatomaceous earth, but we will wait to see if we need it come autumn.
Your aloe looks bigger then mine. But not as big as the biggest I have ever seen. It was huge. I think I may sub all the same
You don't seen tobknow what you are doing **
Why so long?😟
So I needed to prune my aloe Vera didnt know how to do it was following your video ripping my plant leaves off.......then u said u didn't know if it was good for it...... why the hell us this video on
gurrtiger Don’t worry! It turned out great! The aloe is now super large. I should do a video to show it.
Hahaha well m8 I hope so lol. Mine was hiding looooads of shoots.
What a mess
Do I need to do some cleaning?
Making a video on how to do something and saying you don’t know what you’re doing 🤦♂️
Why so long?😟
