Today is 16 April 2023, on Sunday, and I wasn't sure how to proceed after I let my leaves heal. Then I came across your video today, and I learned so much from it! I thought it was genius of you using the stones to help the plant stay upright until it roots! And I also learned that the new growth term is called "pups"🤓 The only two questions I have are-- do I wet the soil prior to planting the leaves-- and how wet should it be? I also appreciated knowing just how the plant will look once the pups start coming in! I'm already excited about this venture!
Thank you for your info and showing us your process and what you learned! Answered every single question I had about propagating my aloe Vera plant. God bless you my friend ❤️
That makes perfect sense to me. If a person cuts another kind of succulent leaf in half then try to propagate it, it just withers up and dies. However, if you use an intact leaf, it will typically reproduce (not always but most of the time). I just got an aloe vera plant for the first time because I've read that parrots are supposed to like it, and it's healthy for them. So far, mine aren't the least bit interested but hopefully will learn to enjoy it in time. I've successfully propagated other succulents but was clueless about how to do so with an aloe.

I tried reading all the comments to find the answer, but couldn't find it. Did the cuttings with no root stem ever grow? I have three cuttings like this and I am wondering it i'm wasting my time.
No, the leaf alone cannot propagate. It has to have a stem tissue attached to the plant. Perhaps this tutorial can help ruclips.net/video/1m-RkkvmaLg/видео.html
If you mean discoloration of leaves, then it is caused either by root rot or sunburn. If it is root rot, it will not only discolor the leaves but will also curl the leaves.
Thanks this confirmed my own thoughts... I'm trying to save an aloe plant from rot and noticed a small bump from a root at the stem part of a leaf so I wanted to look up the requirements of propagating a leaf and people are just crazy if they think you can grow an aloe plant from only the top of a leaf... But that would mean you would be able to just cut in to the middle of the leaf and you would see a new aloe plant grow from the middle of the leaf and I have NEVER seen that... Though you might be able to plant a clinical clean aloe in to the middle of an aloe leaf 🤔 would be fun to see if that would be possible but you would need to make sure no soil or other stuff got in to the leaf...
Thank you for this informative video! I tried to learn from your other videos, but have you commented on what type of potting soil is needed to grow Aloe Vera?
Like Dana said, get cactus/succulent soil. If you want, you can just make your own by mixing: Compost Peat Moss/Coco Coir Sand Perlite Boom. Many people are hesitant to mix their own dirts, but the thing is if you're not adding fertilizers you're really just trying to get the right consistency/drainage for the right plant. I mix fertilizer in when blending but if it's a first time just avoid that part and fertilize after the plant is established
We only have wet and dry seasons here in the Philippines and it doesn't matter, I can do it anytime. We don't have winter, but I think it's not a good idea to do this in winter.
Hi, You never did the follow up on if the leaves did anything after 3 weeks. We are trying to save a Aloe Vera and have cut a few leaves that have no root attached. Have seen other videos that say to allow it to callus and then plant. Did you get any result?
Incredible!!! Thank you so much for sharing this! I have a large aloe but it hasn’t given me pups in 2 years. I ow believe this is because too big a pot (but plant is happy and healthy just no pups)

You always want to water after with cuttings or transplanting rooted cuttings to a new pot. The water ensures that the dirt makes full contact with the plant stem and roots allowing just enough air space for gas exchange but not so much that the stem or root becomes dry and dies. So for plats that can be easily overwatered you will want to skip moistening the dirt prior to planting and then water after planting.
@@alexistaylor969 _"So for plats [sic] that can be easily overwatered you will want to skip moistening the dirt prior to planting and then water after planting."_ OK...unless your medium is bone dry to begin with. Then, watering after the fact will likely result in pockets of dry soil. This is especially so with well-draining media, where the water runs off while some parts remain dry. Just make sure your medium is well-drained. If all you have is soil, steal some sand from a playground!
You can plant right away. I think the problem why people suggest letting them callous first is it might be too moist if you don't know what you're doing and put em straight in the soil without drying first
That's what I'm going do one leaf & ser if it grow too good to be true so that's why nothing because this video is just going be my Experiment 😀 your video are great 👍

Hi again!! I'm so happy I found your videos, and I keep having more questions. I really appreciate your guidance! Once the mother leaf has made roots/pups, can I cut off the mother leaf?
I just received a small pup from a friend but one big leaf is bent and broken. I think I'll cut that part off and freeze for use in treating burns but I mightvtry to propagate the bottom part for a new plant. Thank you
Just remember that you cannot propagate the leaf without a stem tissue attached to it. Here's how you should do it ruclips.net/video/3N9g_eor0OY/видео.html
@@TheAloeVeraGarden thank you again. The leaf that bent/broke is an outside one that I should be able to carefully pull off like your video shows. Thank you again.
Couple of questions. So cut and let heal then plant. After you have planted them, when in the video you are aerating the soil by moving it around as you do, is there a reason for doing that? Currently have an aloe that I am trying to save. How often would you water such cuttings? Any certain type of soil for the cuttings?
It's not just about cut and heal and soil type. It's more about how you cut the leaf. The leaf will start to grow roots and pups even before planting, as long as you cut it properly. You can check this video here:ruclips.net/video/3N9g_eor0OY/видео.html

2.
Neues spezielles gesundes Gemisch in neuer eigener, spezieller "Vera-Anzucht Erde" verwenden.

So, gut nun!
= "Bleibt bitte einfach cool. Ich will doch Vera nur noch 1x retten, weil ich verstanden habe, das sie zu viel Regenwasser + Kälte nicht mag!" Also wird sie in der Garage überwintern, oder in Zukunft in der guten Stube, direkt am Febster, in Heizungsnähe. Erst mal muss sie überleben, dann werden "Bio-Vera-Träume" wahr! Beraten wir uns hier?
🤔😉😀🙃🥱
Ahhh, hab jetzt eine simple Idee:

I love growing plants 🌱 😊my mama had a green thumb as my grandpa is so relaxing to feel life in soul thanks
This was REALLY helpful. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
How wet is the soil at time of planting the cutting? How often are you watering it from the time you plant to the time they root? Thank you
Did you water them at all during the rooting time, thank you for sharing
I too need an answer for this
Bende bilmek isterim...?
great video.
VERY WELL DONE! I enjoyed the process of see both leave tissue v. leaf cutting without tissue. Thank you.
You're welcome. Thank you also for watching.
Thank you for such a wonderful video! I’m new to Aloe Plants. Could you tell me the difference between rot and discoloration please and thank you?!
If you mean discoloration of leaves, then it is caused either by root rot or sunburn. If it is root rot, it will not only discolor the leaves but will also curl the leaves.
You take good care of these plante! If not,it is to the Aloe vera .You will take good care of them .😀😃
I never knew you could propagate them like that thank you for showing
it wont work, it needs a root, this would rot unless you use an antifungal , you cannot just stick a leaf in soil bare
Thank you for this information!
Fantastico,Espectacular, gracias, saludos desde Uruguay
Thank you very much.
Best videos today searched aloe vera caring and propagation 🙇Thank you very much!
Wow, thank you.
What about the upper parts? Any roots yet?
The pups are so cute. Such a wonderful way to grow aloe plants. 🎉
This Video was so helpful thank you very much❤
Thank you for this informative video! I tried to learn from your other videos, but have you commented on what type of potting soil is needed to grow Aloe Vera?
Succulent soil.. Which usually has sand and dries out faster. Ive used potting soil but i wouldnt if new to it and dont know watering routine for it.
Like Dana said, get cactus/succulent soil. If you want, you can just make your own by mixing:
Compost
Peat Moss/Coco Coir
Sand
Perlite
Boom. Many people are hesitant to mix their own dirts, but the thing is if you're not adding fertilizers you're really just trying to get the right consistency/drainage for the right plant. I mix fertilizer in when blending but if it's a first time just avoid that part and fertilize after the plant is established
@@oldkingcrow777 Good, thanks!
thanks for tips and very interesting tutorial keep on planting
ThankYOU, God bless you
I have also aloe Vera plants in the pot .And I used it for my face to remove pikas or milasma.
Superb
Cool video. Thank you. Any particular time of year that it's better to do this?
We only have wet and dry seasons here in the Philippines and it doesn't matter, I can do it anytime. We don't have winter, but I think it's not a good idea to do this in winter.
Hi,
You never did the follow up on if the leaves did anything after 3 weeks.
Strange. Aloes normally put out pups soon enough cause they hate being alone
Wow! This awesome!! I'm definitely trying this. You did such a great job. First video that really shows the correct way. Thanks for sharing God bless and stay safe 🙏🏾🥰
Thank you very much for watching. 😊😊😊
@@TheAloeVeraGarden You're welcome my pleasure 🙏🏾🤗
Is it helpful.?
Did you try this?
@@Shaikhirbaaz Not yet but I will soon!!!
wonderful, easy to understand video! much appreciate you sharing your expertise.
You're very welcome!
Hi from Mexico That was a nice video that explained well how to grow aloe vera leaf cuttings
Amazing. Thank you. I will try this.
You're welcome 😊
Omg, and I’ve been planting mine all these while with the roots
It's always best to plant aloe vera pups with roots. Aloe vera produces pups so fast that you don't have to plant its leaves.
Wow this is amazing !
I am a Aloe Vera lover I have alot, this video has taught me alot.
Thank you 😊
Do you only pot the lower part of the leaf . Do you water immediately after planting and what is the frequency to water after
You just water it when the soil gets very dry.
Great effort..do we need to water it every day,,n keep it in sun..?
Keep it in first in a well lighted area and when the pups start to show, slowly expose them to sunlight. Water only when the soil gets dry.
Excellent gardening work, thanks dear i am gonna try this
Sir, one question, after planting (from 0 day) what will be the process of watering?
Did you ever water them?
Good idea the stones to help support leaves ♥️🏴 England
Witam po cieciu posypac cynamonem i dac az rana sie zasklepi a potem do podloza dla sekulentow lub kaktusow, mozna tez zastosowac pdloze dla juk i dracen
question, once the aloe vera is dried and planted, will I need to water the soil before or after potting?
You always want to water after with cuttings or transplanting rooted cuttings to a new pot.
The water ensures that the dirt makes full contact with the plant stem and roots allowing just enough air space for gas exchange but not so much that the stem or root becomes dry and dies.
So for plats that can be easily overwatered you will want to skip moistening the dirt prior to planting and then water after planting.
Lol-- that was my same question
@@alexistaylor969 _"So for plats [sic] that can be easily overwatered you will want to skip moistening the dirt prior to planting and then water after planting."_
OK...unless your medium is bone dry to begin with. Then, watering after the fact will likely result in pockets of dry soil. This is especially so with well-draining media, where the water runs off while some parts remain dry. Just make sure your medium is well-drained. If all you have is soil, steal some sand from a playground!
Hare Krishna. So amazing planting 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for sharing this video I want to start growing aloe Vera keep Safe waiting for your next video
You remind me of my younger self, when I was propagating plants! :D
Nice sharing and have a nice day🎉🎉🎉
Salamat.
Do you have to leave them to dry out or can you plant straight away?
You can plant right away. I think the problem why people suggest letting them callous first is it might be too moist if you don't know what you're doing and put em straight in the soil without drying first
Thanks for the step by step analysis and time lapse.
It's a good idea. I'll take a look. Thank you very much.😊
Thank you.
That's what I'm going do one leaf & ser if it grow too good to be true so that's why nothing because this video is just going be my Experiment 😀 your video are great 👍
I always like to propagate aloe vera by single leaf & tried many times. I must try this method.
Awesome thank you. Will do your method with my aloes. Bless you
As long as you have a root a lil piece of root mis 1 ASPIRIN INTO 2 LTS OF WATER AND THE WILL ROOT LIKE CRAZY
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us sir.❤
thanks for the useful video @thealoeveragarden! did you water the soil during the experience?
I just keep the soil moist.
beautiful voice and accent and music. thank you!
Wow l hope this time you will do your level best such that the aloe vera grow👍
Very helpful video! Thank you very much!!!! 👍
I wish I had checked my plant several days ago. I'm going to try to nurse it back to health,,,,the leaves rotted away from root base. I'll let them dry out and see if I've got the touch to save them and start them over. I haven't checked the root base either. I'm hoping for life there also. Before I did anything I wanted to Google the alow plant to see if I could help it. 😊
I hope you that you will be able to revive your plant 😊😊😊
HWOARDS THE TIP.. SHOULD I LEAVE HER OR CUT HER?ELLO SORRY FOR LARGE TWXT IM PARTIALLY BLIND. I HAD 2 ALOE VERA PLANS DELIVERED ONLY TO FIND SOME LAVES ARE BENT AN SOME SNAPPED, BUT NOT OFF. THESE ARE NEARER THE TIP. THNX FOR SHARING
You don't have to cut the leaf.
Fantastic experiment 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
Thank you 🤗
Wowwww thankyou!!!
Hi again!! I'm so happy I found your videos, and I keep having more questions. I really appreciate your guidance! Once the mother leaf has made roots/pups, can I cut off the mother leaf?
Yes, you can.
Great experiment.. thanks for this
Thank you very much. 😊😊
I've a very large Aloe plant that continues to fall over to1 side do i continue growing the plant in bigger pots
You may want to consider this video ruclips.net/video/FO3z4KfGwgM/видео.html
🌱🌱🌱💚🌱🌱🌱
Do you need to water them?
yes but not too much
Mulțumesc pentru acest video. Am primit o plantă de aloe, acum are 3 ani.
Hi! Did you watered the leaves after you planted them? If you did, how often did you water it?
I just kept the soil moist. When the soil gets dry, I sprinkle a little water.
Hope you make more videos like this🤩🤩🤩
Did the top part of the plant ever propagate? Also, why cut the tip off?
So is there any advantage to cutting the leaf in half at all? Except to experiment. But in general would it be better to propagate the whole leaf?
Gostei muito desse vídeo parabéns ❤❤
