My favorite is setting as many variables I can to random, so you can get anything from a fast, weak zombie to a slow zombie that opens doors. I mean I can hardly last a week that way but it's fun. 🤣🤣

Considering the mechanics with blood on fences, I also almost exclusively do saliva only as well. No fun hopping a chain link fence just to get infected because a zombie bumped into it before hand and I cut my hand getting across.

Most people who play servers have 100+ hours in the game and at that point there isn't really any danger without sprinters so it's important for servers to have them enabled or people will get bored
I have a mod that let me control the % of sprinters, currently it's 0.05, so there is about 1 in 20-50 zeds, really keep the game entertained, I also have a lesser chance for a lock picking one too lol
i like to play with the randomized zombie mod, so 5% of zombies are sprinters. Adds the feeling of recently turned survivors without making it too hard (also gotta play with single hit) :)

Most servers have 3 things They are always centuries in They always have sprinters or some ridiculous setting And there’s always random doors windows and other things just broken and random loot everywhere

I play a populated sever with mostly normal settings on, so whenever I think of myself as a pretty good player, I remind myself of people who play with sprinters and then l go back to being bitten because im trash😂
Them tripping over each other actually sounds really cool, but goodness gracious screaming zombies takes it to a whole other level...sounds like a ton of fun though
the problem is when you know everything about this game and every bug/glitch and exploit you can do in pz, game just becomes pretty easy for example you can make zombie proof bases with some objects that cannot be broken by zombies, you can just simply burn the whole horde and not deal with any zombies ever etc.

Did it with "The Darkness is Coming" with the Save Our Station mod. And when the Emergency Broadcast failed a few days before the darkness event hit it was terrifying when it did.
I've got the mod that lets you have multiple zombie types. So I run all 4 types. The sprinters are just VERY rare though. Enough that they always catch me off guard whenever ones comes bolting out of nowhere.
I think saliva only, loot respawns and extremely rare sprinters (like 1 in 1000 or even higher) are the best settings for a server with a lot of people, oh and also can't forget multi hit, I can't play without it
Me and a buddy of mine joined a server that was made way yander ago, the game had ran for around 10+ years, no zombie respawns, high pop, so we always start in muldraugh, and while we were zooming up and down the road in a car like jackasses, we found a warehouse that had a BUNCH if infected survivors, and unfortunately it turned out that was the server owners group, 7 people died in that warehouse base, and there was this random note that said “check upstairs” and we climb the handmade scaffolding to the roof, lmfao one of the guys offed himself with bleach while wearing a bathing suit. Other than that it was pretty depressing and derelict.
I like when my friend joined a random server and incited a war between factions with no real stakes between who won, he did it because he thought it was funny
I don't understand how people can play without % sprinters. With all walking zombies you can just walk around town , spam Q lure all the zombies away from whatever you want to loot. You can rip your sprint key out and still walk faster than the zombies. I do however turn infection off. Random % chance to just die from engaging with zombies (the point of the game) doesn't make sense in a game. So I usually run like 10% Sprinters , give all zombies the highest strength and make injuries the most severe but no infection.
Look if I have the skill and a 2 handed sword, I want multi hit on if they can stack inside of each other, for every limitation of the game and that ruins immersion you have to balance it with an advantage. I want realistic, not unrealistically hard every time

I am such a weenie that I turn off _guaranteed_ death, so that you can survive a zombie bite if you have enough medicine and down entire pots of soup. Yes, I am absolutely a weenie, but I can't stand losing a character I have played for days. I am a weenie.

I use Blender to model and animate, and then I use DaVinci Resolve to edit and add all the extra bits like audio and visual effects. Both are free programs (DaVinci has a paid version, but with the free one you get 90% of the features) too btw, so if you're interested in creating your own I'd say check them out!
Guys please small amounts of sprinters make you take a completely different approach to typically nonthreatening scenarios and incentivize multiplayer cooperation they're a good feature you gotta believe me!!
I wish they could make some items single hit and some not bc i like single hit off but it makes some weapons way too strong and also doesnt make much sense with certain items like the katana or a spear. if theres a mod that i dont know of that that does that it would be very nice
From some of the other comments I've been reading, I think there is a way to have mixed spawns...I'd look into it, it might be a setting built in or a mod. But it exists somewhere! Goodluck!
Being real, personally I feel like walkers are boring/easy after a while and I get to cozy and one just jumps out a dark corner or I open a bathroom door too casually and get grabbed by a horde and die instantly, very annoying. At least with sprinters It makes me feel more on edge and less bullshited by me just getting bored and lazy a few months in.
Try the random zombies mod, that way sprinters are random jumpscares and you dont know how much amounts of sprinters there are in any given horde, while the rest are shamblers, walkers, and crawlers.
Beans McGee was one of my first survivors who actually survived a good while, up until I was in a school and got jumped scared by a zomboid and died XD

PLEASE answer here and we talk on steam/ds, for all that is holy we just want to grow weed, fire guns and play music.
TBH.... Sprinter is easier than crawlers... Sprinter / walkers can be blocked by chesses wall. For sprinters, you need to be on your toes 24-7... I personally prefer walkers/ fast walker, for enjoyment... Crawler can't be blocked by cheese wall... Only TV/ compost walls...

I added running zombies but they fall if they try to run over each other, and a 10% of a killed zombie screaming, alerting nearby zombies.

Only ever had one experience playing on a server. I joined one, loot respawn was turned off, starved to death after finding no food in 28 houses.
this is why foraging and fishing is key for situations like this
