Thanks for talking about the positioning, including of the friendly team. It's useful, and you shouldn't worry about repetition because people don't see every video.
Yeah I just can't figure out positioning with the Stalingrad
And they never learn !
Ship request: Incomparable please!
He pronounces that ship name wrong, he should definitely do a video on it. I get a good laugh every time he says incomparable.
quick note on the ship details mod, I think the torps are either set to max or min torps, so some ships with 3 options like shima or premiums like yoshino that already have 2 unlocked, always seem to show one, like for yoshi it always shows 20 kms even on myself when I'm running 12s
Could you do a mod update video? Id love to know what ur using, interface skin looks good
I thought this was a Vermont video for a second cause of thumdnail and got excited, then realized its not Vermont and read the title. I love Vermont even though shes not real, either way great games on the Stalingrad. Honestly no one explains their moves and the effects of those moves as good as you.
Ship request: Yoshino (preferably try full lighthouse build, double rudder mods)
Very nice looking Stalingrad.
we want ragnar
Wtf happend with the dispersion ? I remember Stalingrad guns like laser, First time i was like wow wtf is that dispersion, so good. Now i have trubles hitting targets at 15km.
I litteraly just got this ship like 6 hours ago. im interested to see how it plays
what's the mod that makes the ships hp disapear and only show the icon when u target the ship.
Could you do a Tokachi review? That'd be an interesting one
Can you do a one take of uss Georgia see how it is in the new meta ?
So I notice you refer to propulsion mod having an impact on dodging, which I know is true but is it really also the case when driving backwards ? Does is work both ways ?
yes it works in both directions
I liked the Stalingrad a lot, in fact I have my damage record with it at almost 400k: it gives, or did give, you great reward if you position well... But I'm feeling, maybe since submarines introduction, that it's way too difficult to have a good impact on any match, people tend to run even more away and a ship so easily to spot gets focus hard.
BTW: a week or so ago, with my Stalingrad, a Tirpitz managed to put me more than 40k at ~23km despite being not full broadside (rear turret was not shown). I would like to see the RNG algorithm because I keep on seeing weird things over and over again.
World of Bugs
nah it happens to me too with russian cruiser. in my moskva angling away, kiting position and a Bourgogne just slapped my citadel through the upper stern 2 times. i hate to say this but those 25 mm plating are such a letdown, whereas 50 mm for the bow / stern would make this russian cruisers absolutely busted
For the reasons you stated i actually tend to play it with range just to be able to run from subs without becoming totally useless...
Also i had a situation playing dm recently, where i was almost conpletely nose in just to get devstruck by a stalin through the nose somehow.
Nah…Stalingrad is going to be more than ok with subs. Because of such a good radar. On main account I mostly play on Subs and sometimes BBs . And on second I sometimes play Moskva and DDs. As Sub player I assure you that Stalingrad is pain for subs. Cause they spot you with their radar from big distance and being spotted for subs is Death.
@@smaug9617 lol wtf are you on about? Radar does shit to subs because you just need to dive and change direction
This ship is the bomb in Tier X RANKED and BRAWLS. Punishes most BB that give broadsides even at long range.
Stalingrad was my second steel boat. Fun ship to play. I personally wish the second camo like what you got PQ, was available for dubs as it's a gorgeous camo.
So what would you say to choose? Stalingrad or incomparable. Right now I’m leaning towards Stalin, but it could go either way.
Edit: I already have Bourgogne
Bourgogne if you don't have it yet
Otherwise depends on what you want...
Stealthy overmatching BB or a BB in a Cruiser slot
Honestly, i would just say Incom, since Petro is just a better Stalingrad in most situations, so why bother.
Incomp super fun but situational. I love the bourg. If you don’t have bourg I would say that’s first steel ship to get. So easy to do 150k+ in games. Just last night I had 258k game on a loss 😢
@@jedpratte already hav Bourgogne
Got Bourgogne a year before Staliniumgrad, and find the french one easier to play.
Do a review of the t9 amd t10 hybrid US BBs. They have a level of bullshittium armor protection I have not seen in some time.
Sevastopol basically ignores fires and is why its my favorite ship
They are nerfing its heal now.
Aiming bugs have always existed. But I swear Stalin guns were much more accurate a few years ago, back when it had FP. Good ship. Borderline OP in it's prime. What does that say about the state of the game now?
tbh, I don't really understand the argument that being bow in is a bad play when carriers are around. Carriers will get off the same strike with the same efficacy regardless of how you are positioned. If anything, it means carriers have to go through more AA to get to your ship or risk getting a shoddy drop because of the island cover.
You cannot manoeuvre as well if bow-in. He also means hugging a rock.
@@EvoraGT430 Exactly
What he means is basically, if you are stationary and lets say you play against a MvR or Hakuryuu, you just give them free citas, since you dont have the momentum to turn away or into the Rockets/Bombs and then you just die in 3 Strikes, plus if you are behind an Island, the Carrier can also use the Island as AA Cover, making him actually lose way less planes then in the open.
No, being in kiting position enables you more space to maneuver with less fear of being devstruck by enemy bbs
Not to mention bow in ships die so much faster to subs than kiting ships. If I catch a bow in Stalin I can sit at 10km and torture you until you have no DCP and you can't move because you'd have to show broadside
This really turns me off from getting the stalingrad. I'm to the point where I can afford another steel ship, and I already have Bourgogne, what is the next best recommended ship? Is it Ragnar or Incomparable?
Mecklenburg
It depends what you enjoy tbh, personally I like CLs so I have Austin and Plymouth, but if you like BBs Mecklenburg or Incomparable are probably more fun. Ragnar and Z-42 are both pretty good, Ragnar is tronger but Z-42 is more unique imo.
what dd line do you recommend when It comes to torp dd's? (as an avarage player that is above avarage in torp dd's)
Either Japan or Pan-Asian depending on how you feel about deepwater torpedoes.
So as for torp boats the best ones that come to mind are Gearing, Shimakaze, yuyang, and Holland.
Gearing is a hybrid DD that can be built a variety of ways. It's Got decent fire power, decent torp reload, and 16.5km torps. Also one feature that is less known is it has a 21mm side plate meaning destroyers that done have HE that can pen 21mm will shatter instead of dealing damage to you. Lastly gearing has a unique upgrade that makes it as stealthy as the Shimakaze at the cost of gun power. So if you want to commit to the torpedo boat play style then getting the unique upgrade is the way to go.
Shimakaze is one of the most noteable torp boats and what comes to mind when you first think of a torp boat. It has 5.6 conceal, it can go 40+knots with brisk, it has 3×5 torp tubes with high damage. The cons is Japanese torpedoes are often detected before other torpedoes of different torpedo boats. And although it has 20km torps they are very slow so most people equip the 12 I'm torps. The torps also have a long reload time, around 2min. Shima's unique upgrade is recommended if you want to commit to the shima because it gives you faster torp reload at the cost of torpedo durability.
Yueyang is similar in design to the gearing but has slightly worse DPM. Yueyang has the option between smoke or radar. It also has a torpedo reload booster. Yueyang carries deep water torpedoes, beaning unless the enemy is running hydro they are very very stealthy torpedoes they do about 18k damage. However these torpedoes are incapable of hitting other destroyers making DD engagements difficult. The torp reload is slightly longer than the gearings but not as long as Shima's. It has average characteristics for HP, DPM, and speed, but having stealthy torps that you can have loaded instantly using the booster makes it stand out.
Holland Holland is one of the most unique torpedo boats for a few reasons. It has torpedoes that reload in 69 seconds, and can go 96knots fully upgraded with 15km of range, it also has good guns for a torp boat. However the torpedoes only do 10500 damage so you have to land a lot of them to deal significant damage. Their speed helps you do that. The Holland also has among the best AA in the game with the DF AA consumable and a heal. The downside is it is a slow DD, with poor maneuverability meaning you have to plan your positioning in advance and you are not a good cap contester. Also since you lack smoke, disengaging is difficult. What I will say is if a DD is rushing you, 96knot torps are hard to dodge.
Shima, YY, holland. Myself I love the holland and YY. The holland can hold its own very well and can run solo to areas other dd’s can’t even in CV games.
I would say yy is the best option because it has guns as well. That's also true for Halland but that doesnt have the smoke to actually disengage. I find myself struggling a lot with that from time to time. Shima is the purest of torpboats at the cost of impact on enemy dds in direct gunfights. Gearing i can't comment on really.
For pure torp DD fun, I'd recommend Yeuyang torp build, or Shimakaze with the unique module for 25% torp reload. Both are very satisfying when you send a wall of skill and watch as the enemy eat like half the danger pilons
That first battle shows the state of the game, especially at high tiers. 8 players remained alive on the LOSING team; how pathetic is that?
WG decided a long time ago to put the rate of experience gain on steroids so it's possible to get from tier 1 to 10 in something like 200 battles whereas back at release it could take that sort of number simply to get from tier 9 to 10.
Small wonder there are so many top tier players who seem either not to know how, or to care about, winning (if not both). Which is why we see SO many examples of players doing stupid shit because they can't see beyond "shoot at red ship, chase it if it runs away, don't think about anything else" OR "sit back 'sniping', let some other sucker take all the damage" in ships that are poor at range. Of course it doesn't help that trying to advance really CAN be a very quick trip back to port so often, but the levels of failure to grasp even basic concepts is pretty tiresome.
As we know, WG doesn't give a single shit about game play QUALITY; they simply want LOTS of people playing LOTS of games at the top tiers, and if they're playing poorly then it's all the more likely they'll have to spend money on Premium Account status and/or Premium Ship(s) not to go broke.
The fact so many high tier games can be garbage simply illustrates this along with WG's own frequently rubbish decisions.
Always enjoy your vids, especially as they render even the tiniest thought of returning to the game utterly superfluous. I'd far rather watch the things you and other quality players put on YT than wade through countless hours of crap game play myself.
Cheers
Next time Ragnar one take? :)
The stalin is my most recent steel ship. She has super vulnerable sides, and the guns are just meh. The nerfed petro still feels stronger.
please one take the Incomparable.
I'm on the cusp of being able to grab my second Steel ship. I have Bourgogne, obvs, but I struggling to decide on my second. I'm thinking Mecklenburg, mainly for the accuracy, but I'm also thinking that Stalingrad might get pulled but Petro is more or less the same, or that Austin (one trick pony that it is) looks like a lot of fun.
Mecklenburg all day and twice on Sundays. It's a brawler with accurate long range guns
My guy petro is nowhere near the same as Stalingrad. I cannot even begin to describe this because you really have to use them to feel what it’s like. Petro has trash accuracy beyond 12km, Stalingrad has awesome accuracy all the way to 19km. Their tankiness is also completely different. Petro will die if it turns, Stalingrad will die if it doesn’t.
I know there’s this thing with mecklenburg accuracy blah blah, but you have the burger. These 16/12 gun ships do not have the accuracy or the pen. They simply perform by DPS with high fire rate. Don’t forget Merck’s atrocious angles. You will find that it’s very similar to burger, depends on you if it’s a good or bad thing.
@@devonellis2520 mecklenburg is absolutely NOT a brawler
@@devonellis2520 Mecklenburg is a sniper my guy, not a brawler.
can we have incomparable one take?
Ship Request: Shikishima
In my impression, basic positioning and basic situational awareness / aggression control are what sets apart the average players and those that put actual effort into improving themselves. We will most likely never see a majority of players reach that stage because at the end of the day, the broad mass of players are casuals that take the game much less seriously than some of us do (which is fine).
While I am by now very much at the exit door of my Warships journey, I still remember what it was like taking that step up. Having live commentary on 'basic' things like this right when experiencing the situation, even if it is second hand through a video, helps a lot with building the mental connections needed to improve on those aspects. For me at least, this was the push I needed to reach a noticeable improvement in my games and outcomes, which in turn gave me the confidence and motivation to look more objectively at my game and improve even further on my own.
While it is perfectly understandable that it might sometimes feel like you are just parroting the same stuff all the time (cause you kinda do), pointing out this stuff again and again whenever it seems relevant is probably much more helpful than you might realize to more people than you might expect.
It is honestly (among others) one of the reasons I value you above any other Warships content creator I have ever watched.
I can’t wait for the Austin one take, it’s prolly gonna be my first steel ship.
you like living life on the edge eh. I still suggest the Bourgogne, it's a good entry to steel ships. Austin looks fun on paper but if you don't feel confident about your dodging abilities, this ship will make you a very passive island hugger or a quick kill
@@Nurg1982 this is me with wooster, it looked good and fun but when I play it I get deleted or if I stay hugging an island I feel so useless and barely do anything, I still have it on the dock but went for petro and is way more simple to play
Austin can be very rewarding but goddamn it punishes mistakes, can't even count the number of ass citadels I take in that thing.
@@Nurg1982 I’m not sure about “living on the edge”.
The only way I enjoy playing the game is by purposely doing stupid things.
@@Qunia Austin is perfect for doing stupid things. Great meme value in a ship, just don’t take it too seriously and you’ll have a blast.
I have never seen any other game in which there are so many bad players. World of Warships reveals a lot about people's mental skills.
Can you please do the Neustrashimy please ?
26 sec radar. Moskva 39 sec.
I m so close to get him ,,,game just ignore me for steel to get ,,,
Ship request: DFAA Petro
Stalingrad is by far the most broken ass cruiser in the game, atleast in tier 10. It is difficult to play thou and bad players easely gets themselves into positions where they die quickly.
And yes the guns are by far the best cruiser guns in the game
Well, Rule no. one about pushing spawn: Only do it when you completly cleared your flank and pushing up that far provides a crossfire for your team. If not, just don't do it.
Not gonna lie, every time Potato says "That's a little spooky." I cringe.
Most people who play World of Botes 1. dont watch youtube instructionals or replays 2. Dont take improvement seriously. or the game really. and 3. Are just garbage. With the more experienced players leaving the game and the influx of newer players and it being easier to buy your way to top tier. the quality of matches have hit an ultimate nose-dive. adding in broken CVs and Subs on top of it all. why does anyone even play this game anymore, is beyond me. And i still play and have been since the first week of Closed Beta. (i have invested to much to leave now)
Ship request: Incomparable :)
A low damage match in game one? Meh. I don't think damage should get the glory that it does. You singlehandedly locked the Reds out of A the entire match. Intelligent positioning, use of consumables, and map awareness! That is real battle impact. Well played, PQ.
The problem with the average IQ of a Warships player is that they dont understand positioning
Neutrashimy when
"thats how you counter radar" - you just sit outside of range and look. Idk man this is just so 0 fun playstyle as DD.. I mean i do it too because what else is gonna work but if they have like 3-4 radar ships its like ugh
You should try sitting at like 11.9km and baiting the radar, then when he pops it you run away and come back. That way you get like a minute of do whatever you want time between his radar's.
Napoli!
Stalingrad is a shell of its former self, do not use your steel to buy it. They have nerfed it into one of the most useless ships in the game.
Not really.
@RS2Russ explain. Non-stop fires. Trash AA and its dispersion is awful now. What's your in-game name, btw?
Win harder stupidity. Good to see others being idiots sometimes, not only myself.
What I don't undestand and never will, you got the DD opened, but use AP for ONE salvo, then quit hunting it, even when it stops, because of 15km? With 4 DD's in game there's almost nothing else important, then kill as many A.S.A.P.
Hitting fast dd at 15km is impossible, its just a waste of salvos, u will propably get 0 hits so its better to focus on easier targets
Some DDs at 15km going 50 knots are so hard to hit. Turning out and changing speed ect. When I play kleber I can just non stop shoot and play aggressive and most players can’t hit me.
well 1st :P
This is my issue with radars and DD play. Too easy to play around
sorry but that push at A was unnecessary
he said as much in the video, he was just trying to demonstrate the ship's capabilities and not end the round behind an island with 75% health
