Thanks for this video Abby. I have been keeping my eyes on this but waiting for the extra money to purchase it. Any new discounts as we are now in August. Please let me know. Can't wait to have my own DDP 80. So beautiful!!!
I love this review, Abby. I have been looking for an electric piano that looks and feels like a piano (not a fancy many optioned keyboard) for YEARS! Time to start saving up for this lovely instrument! Thank you!
The nice look and style of this digital piano is “mid-century modern” from the 1950s-60s . My growing up years. Love the neat sleek lines and minimal look. Although I have an acoustic baby grand piano where I do my serious classical piano playing, I ordered this one today for the same reasons, the mid-century modern look/style and just to have fun on it. Thanks for your thoughtful and thorough review Abby.
Wow. That's an incredible song. I'm gonna be a beginner but I'm definitely looking into this one. I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years but I've been wanting to play piano lately. I'm into Contemporary Christian Music.
I so often choose aesthetics over function. But I actually really like the idea of it JUST being a piano in this case. Feels like something you'd wanna have in the house and it looks SO GOOD. Donner, one thing, if you're listening, if you had included a MIDI out, so that I could use this piano to control any other synth/organ/etc., I would have no questions as to buying it. I DO love the simplicity, but that one thing would make it accessible to everyone's needs, from the simple to the most complex, and allow us to have a truly beautiful wooden piano in our home that we could play anything we want on.
What's so great here is your passion for playing, iv seen many reviews where they don't put passion into the demo, but you give a real performance on it which is needed to hear the quality of it. 👍😁
Abby, I enjoyed your video. I, recently, retired, and I wanted to take piano lessons again. I took lessons , when I was younger, but life got in the way. So, I purchased the Donner DDP-80 88 digital piano on your recommendation. I hope it works out this time.
After going through several online video reviews, nobody said anything about the action being heavier than an average acoustic piano. If someone would be playing the keyboard for a hours, The piano sound is quite acceptable like an older pianoforte from the 18th century which is perfect for playing Mozart but not very realistic when playing pieces by later composers like Liszt & Chopin.
I am a working pianist and I do play both acoustic and digital. Yes. Some people don’t care for to many bells and whistles on their digitals but I love that. So what kind of pianist are you. Do you just do classical or can you play everything. The piano that I have at home is a full 88 G.H.S. Yamaha. This piano sounds like an older piano like an early digital piano hahahahaha I love the way that you played this and I hope that you comment back. I would love to know if you just play for fun or do you play for work. What actually is your instrument of choice what do you like to play the most. I have heard of the Donner piano sounds like a beginner piano but for you apppartment if that is what you can have their you go..
I love this piano I'm gonna be getting this one but my only gripe which honestly is very mild.... Is I wish they had given it a key cover to slide out like most full size pianos have to protect the keys from Dust and dirt ect... I feel they could have some how implemented that.
A con would be the lack of cover for the keys when not in use, can get dusty pretty fast… but the sound is great! Definitely shortlisting it in my search for a beginner piano.
That’s actually so true! Thanks for sharing that! Now that I’m teaching more, I use the keyboard lid frequently to have my students tap before playing. So I agree, not having a lid is another con! But it is a lovely piano and I am very happy with it after all this time :)
Do you still have the piano ? I want to get a new electric piano since my old Yamaha stopped working. But I'm not sure what to buy. I want something that sounds really nice. Anyway something about you is likable. Have you seen the movie Amadeus ?
Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to get the measurements of actual floor space this piano takes up. There are measurements online but I’m not sure if they take into account the flare of the legs. Thanks!
The Donner DDP 80 is a great piano; but I would never recommend buying it from Amazon. I know of several people that had it delivered with broken parts and Amazon refused to make good on it. Perhaps you could post a different link.
Hey Abby - cool review, this keyboard looks really awesome and sounds great! Can I ask - how far apart are the legs? I've got a small space I'd like to try and fit this in. Thanks!
When i am at work I play on baby grands and they are pretty dang nice but at home I get to play my digital piano and you know when I am on a digital because I am very loud lol!!! I am one of those dominating pianists one that plays by the books and loud where as some pianists they do lay their pianos a bit softer. I think my personality shows the instrument i play. Hahahahahaha I am electric like my piano is. I am not soft spoken or the romantic type hahahahahaha… I am loud, and electric and energetic.
Hahaha maybe a little bit it’s not too bad! More annoying is finding the volume control or the plugins for headphones/cables. But I don’t have to adjust or plug in too often. That’s a funny question, I hadn’t asked myself that before. 😂 Hope that helps!
Nope no issues!! Still really like it. I’m more used to the touch now too so that’s been good! It’s easier to play baroque/classical music than it is romantic tho I’ve noticed! :)
How long does it take to learn to read and play without looking at the keys ? I can do that flawlessly on a computer keyboard but piano .. man that’s something What’s the secret 😢
It might look nice and holds plant pots and a picture frame but judging by the plinky plonk sound wouldn’t it of been cheaper to buy a shelf? then you wouldn’t run the risk of stubbing your tootsies on those shiny pedals in those cute socks of yours. 😊
I think you would be better off to take a long walk off a short pier you arrogant Git. This Girly has done an excellent video presentation on an affordable piano that a lot of people actually like. Your comments are smarmy, not nice and totally negative. Pack your comments where the sun don't shine.
Hey!! Honestly, a lot of it was just the look and the price of it! I fell in love with the style and how funky the design is. I looked up reviews on RUclips and was convinced from them that the sound and playability of it would be good too, so that's why I got it. :)
I do love kawai pianos though! Maybe when I'm in a house, I will get a real piano, and kawai would be a great option. I tried one at a music store once and still remember how great it was!
