    Thanks for putting this together! Very helpful in getting proper flight stick controls set up in the AO486 core! Configuration help in the more complicated cores is always welcome 🙂 I used the help here to set up X-wing and have a couple videos releasing today that use the XWjoy patches. Of note regarding that game, is that if you're playing the original disk based version of the game and MIDI music, you'll want to use the original/older version of the patch. Otherwise, it will overload the MIDI channels from the repeat command inputs and their accompanying sounds. The disk version handles SFX differently so that particular one goes through MIDI instead.
    The benefit of playing the disk version is the excellent MT-32 soundtrack, which is the best audio option possible for X-wing. CD-ROM version messed this up by forcing the General Midi soundtrack even when selecting MT-32, and it's unbalanced with incorrect/off-tune instruments often times.

      You're welcome! That's good to know about using the original versions, some games just sound better over MIDI than CD audio. I haven't tried using the MT-32 soundtrack on the game yet so looking forward to playing the game with that.

      @@LusRetroSource be sure to use the v1 XWJoy patch when you do play the disk one. the v2 patch you shared originally interrupts the music playback during flight otherwise

    "thorr" here. I was able to get my Thrustmaster PS3/PS4 Hotas 4 to work by holding down the PS, Share and Options buttons when first plugging in the USB cable. It gives you a green light instead of a red light on the joystick. Previously, my extra axes for throttle and twisting the joystick were not working, but now they do. It works really great with the Playstation core as there is a button and analog function for every PSX control. It also works great for AO486.

    I think the only way to make per-game remappings work is for the MiSTer to allow the user to set up and keep a separate list of remap configurations, and to then have a selection menu users can use to select the corresponding remap configuration before or just after they launch a game. Fully automating and autodetecting that selection process would require that the MiSTer watch some event (interrupt? network/serial port?) that can be triggered by some batch file. Not impossible to implement, but somewhat OS-specific and perhaps not worth it.

      This was the same concept I had for a possible system to allow that. I really don't see any other way, and it's a much-needed feature. Hopefully some day it's implemented.

      I haven't tried gameport devices on MiSTer. There are some on Amazon but I can't speak to their quality. However, this DIY device looks interesting:

    Hi does the force feedback work with the Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback joystick?

      What DOS game even supports force feedback? The original SideWinder Force Feedback Pro came out in 1997, so I'm assuming no DOS games ever even supported it.
