How I Completely Botched a Dry Pour Concrete Slab

  • I try to dry pour a slab without doing much research...not good. Dry pour concrete fail. But I fix it in the end. So today I'm installing a concrete slab to my Backyard Camper Setup. Completely Do it Yourself.

    This is far from a fail. Who cares if it aint pretty. If it serves its purpose, then I see it as a win.

    So what happened? Did you not water it enough to begin with or did you not smooth the top enough before you started to water?

      For dry pouring, I believe you use mortar mix on the top layer to get a smooth finish (no gravel in the mix). I used the gravel mix throughout, so I ended up with pitting on the surface no matter how smooth I tried to get it - I wish I would have put that in the video. Good question.

      ​​@@AdventuresInHomeImprovement I made the same mistake yesterday! If you don't want to buy 2 mixes, you can also strain out the larger pebbles and use that to fill in spots before the last screed.
      Thanks for posting! I'm gonna look into that mix you used to patch 😅

    Don't worry, that's far from lasting forever, you'll have a chance to make it again from scratch in a couple of years or less
