i was fooling around with the pieces, and realized that you can actually make several distinct origami designs by using these 30 modular pieces, or some variation of them... separate from this stellated dodecahedron, you can also make a "truncated dodecahedron" (by interlocking the leaves upside down, as partially seen at 9:51 in the vid), and you can even make a "truncated-stellar dodecahedron" (by augmenting each leaf with 2 additional folds on both ends). Truly a cool design, and the video was really thoughtfully explained. 😊✌😁🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Very nice tutorial! I actually have that book, but hadn't really thought about folding the model and watching your video made me realise it should go on my list of things to fold. Also your folding is so precise even when you are doing the tutorial steps, I'm jealous!
Very cool! And you can make a stellated icosahedron this way too! 30 units! Yep, that's what I'm working on. Jo Nakashima just made one but the unit was kind of complex and not very efficient and so I'm trying to improve on it. I was happy with what I came up with in comparison to his, but now I found this video and, well, this is about as simple as it gets! Actually, come to think of it, I slightly easier to fold unit would be pleating in fourths instead of thirds and that would yield an even pointier model. I'm still going to press forward with my design (it's equilateral triangles and the flaps actually lock).
you probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Valentino Kayden Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thank so much for showing us how to divide a square piece of paper into three parts! I have it bookmarked on my Origami folders for future reference. Today January 12, 2020 I am using your instruction for my new model. I have this mother dong in October 2019 colorful beautiful! Best of all!
I am your fan for a long time and I like the most is how to fold paper in 3 parts!!!! I also like the number of pieces as well as the measurements. Great! Will make this model now.
This is amazing! well, if i did the Yami Yamauchi Firework i guess i can do this! hahaha thank you, you explain soo good! Kisses from a Venezuelan Fan c:
You shouldn't need tape to assemble this model. However, I recommend using paper that is thicker than standard kami (such as tant, kraft, or copy paper) to make the assembly a bit easier.
If the paper is flimsy, I would suggest cutting it into smaller squares to fold the units. The assembly may be tricky, but once all 30 units are assembled the model is pretty sturdy.
As Evan has mentioned, you shouldn't need tape, but if you have a tape that peels easily, you could maybe use it during the assembly and then peel it off once assembled?
I calculated if your folding tool was accurate, and in fact it doesn't devide the square in 3 equal parts. It devides it in one part being 0.331821362 times the lengt of the sides of the square and two parts of 0.334089319 times the lengt of a side. I put too much time in calculating that to not share this here, end of comment.

@Valentino Kayden it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
@Onyx Darwin You are welcome :D
Genial, me encanta que con unos modulos tan sencillos se logre la complejidad de esta estrella.Felicitaciones desde Bogotá- Colombia.
I love making this origami. It came out fantastic! Thank you

Lovely tutorial Evan, this is such a simple but elegant model :)
2:54 to everyone doing the 30 squares! Really well explained thanks! Just started, i will let you know when finished
Are you finished?
@@erased4042 two years later: still folding small triangles
What a fantastic tutorial the best one I’ve seen so impressive thanks so much ☺️

Very informative, took time to explain and show how to put together the best and only video I have seen well done.
This is awesome and amazing!! I love this video.
Awesome tutorial!!! Can you please do a tutorial on the oriland Magic star please?
Thanks, Mason! I've actually never folded the Oriland Magic Star, but I'll give it a try and get back to you!
+EzOrigami thanks man!!! I've always wanted to fold it cause it's like the fireworks. And you could do it off his book.
I love who you explain the process.
Can you please make a tutorial on the six pentagonal prisims, designed by Daniel Kwan
Thank you for the suggestion! Have you checked out Jo Nakashima's video on this design? I haven't folded from it, but it seems pretty well received.

Best of luck, its a wonderful model. If you can fold the firework model, you will definitely have no trouble folding this :)
+Edward Holmes do you have a facebook or instagram account? if i do it i will like to show you :3
+Valentina Morales I'm on Flickr :)
+Edward Holmes Perfect. Thank you sooo muchhh
+Edward Holmes I DID IT :D WOHOOO

Herrlich! Danke!❤
MORE VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice
I believe I need this fro school cuz it’s a project
more videos please !!!! 😃😃😃😃
Check back soon... more videos on the way!
+EzOrigami please upload logarithmic spiral tutorial :D
is there an Origami 'More' Stellated Dodecahedron as well?
How long did it take you to make all 30 of those pieces?
Fun fact that led me here: This is the exact shape of the star fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Can any one count the edges vertices and sides if you have done please👍👍👍👍
very easy but I ways use tape to hold everything together do u think its worth it to put tape?
You shouldn't need tape to assemble this model. However, I recommend using paper that is thicker than standard kami (such as tant, kraft, or copy paper) to make the assembly a bit easier.
+EzOrigami I use Japanese origami paper they didn't say what type of paper but its flimsy
If the paper is flimsy, I would suggest cutting it into smaller squares to fold the units. The assembly may be tricky, but once all 30 units are assembled the model is pretty sturdy.

+Edward Holmes hmmmm I see I see ,well I hve a peelable tape maybe I might do it thanks guys
Bro looks like the star 3D origami thanks ezorigami
Super👍
cool dood!
Well done🎉
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
After 5 hours, I finally did it. Looks nothing likes your, but it does look like a bomb blew up inside of it.
what paper did u use?
plsssssss, i need to know:
Thank you
This is fantastic!
why do i even try.
I was unable to proceed after 11:14 please help me out😭
I made 1 and i will make anotherone😀
He has 2 different hands
But we all have 2 different hands. wouldn't it suck if we all had 2 left hands? 😂😂😂
3:05
I would try it but i don't have 31 squares of paper. maybe ill do it when I have more paper.
I see you Coachella
asmr
😂😂😂 not quite, but i get how it could be experienced as one though
