I was just telling someone this the other day, but rather than mentioning garbodor I instead mentioned the bugs. So weak in the games, but great abilities in the TCG 😉
I think the Pokemon company likes doing this with unpopular Pokemon. Bibarrel? A lot of decks use him because he is a powerful draw supporter. Lumineon? A pretty useful supporter Pokemon in the tcg.
It's worth noting that the second Garbodor is actually similar to Muk from the Fossil set. The only difference is that Muk's Pokémon Power instantly shut out all other Powers without requiring any Trainers or Tools. Like that Garbodor, Muk was a danger to decks that relied heavily on Powers/Abilities.
When I first started playing Pokemon TCG when Crimson Invasion released, I played this Garbodor for a good while with Regigigas (seal of antiquity) for a good while before it rotated out. The deck was so much fun for me, and is the reason why Garbodor is my favourite pokemon now.
So glad to see this! Trubbish and Garbodor are my favorite Pokemon after Gen 3. I play a variety of different Garbodors in my decks too. Love to see it popping off!
You forgot to mention the rule change with Catcher when Boundaries Crossed came out. When the card now required a coin flip to gust a benched Pokémon meaning it was much tougher to drag Garbodor or Trubbish into the active spot. Personally I think bench blocking ability cards are bad for the game, because it kills a lot of creative decks and turns the game into an RPS format consisting off beatdown decks < ability decks < ability locking decks.
If you liked this style of video going over Pokémon histories in TGC the channel "Weaboolin" has been putting out this style of retrospective for a couple months. Highly recommend it is you are into this style of video.
here’s a long-list of Pokémon whose long and storied TCG career might be worth exploring: Blastoise, Raichu, Muk, Electrode, Vileplume, Dragonite, Zapdos, Mewtu, Mew, Donphan, Tyranitar, Celebi, Sableye, Gardevoir, Flygon, Metagross, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Dusknoir, Zoroark, Zekrom, Keldeo, Genesect. … and yes, you may also include Charizard in there, because Wynaut?
Garbodor helped win the 2015 US National championship only because time got called. If Game 2 were played to conclusion, Wailord EX would have reigned supreme, and we would still be shitposting about it today.
One of the first Pokémon to show me that a pokemon can be panned in the video games, but a menace and respected for its “legacy” in the TCG.
Mega Audino is a prime example of this
And Vespiquen. Bee Revenge was my jam.

I always liked it in competitive singles along with weezing. Bulky poison types are fun

can’t forget shaymin being THE most broken draw support pokemon ever
@@repulsivefishalso dedenne and lele
And Lugia went from a mediocre legend made basically useless due to power creep to the poster child and one of the strongest cards of Silver Tempest
Wigglytuff? The OG Terror.

I guess we know what 2024 is going to look like for this channel lol
That dark type version is a card I would bulk upon drawing, hate the poison types hitting psychic types for weakness
Some of the most consistently good pokemon are the most random.
It would be cool to cover Garbodor history in the expanded format
Ironic the trash pokemon ended up being one of the best ain’t it?

I love this pokemon so much
He just needs some direction. Let’s go clean up the park!
He changed from rubbish to a circular economy
This Pokemon is over hated. It is much better than muck.
MY BOY!!!!
that name is dedication
I liked this video a lot
U miss team plasma garbodor
Sorry to be "that guy", but it's pronounced "Garb-odour". As in "Garbage" and "Odour". Not "Garb-o-door".
But nice video! 👍
I used to pronounce it that way, lol.
