    Absolutely fascinating, I can imagine you have mixed feelings re the Emeraude, seeing the condition it's in at present, the engine issues and discovering that rotten elevator must have been a real shock. That was an excellent pencil sketch of the plane. When everything settles down I must visit the Muckleburgh Museum.

      Glad you enjoyed it John. The pencil drawing was given to me by Gerry. He was the first Deputy Headteacher I worked with and the person who I went into aircraft partnership with.

    Weybourne, we visited a couple of years back, the landing over the guns is quite special. The wind was messing about, overhead to take a look, it was favouring the landing towards the sea. By the time I was on short final it had swung around! so a swift 180 over the sea and back in landing like you did, over the Guns. The wind was up on leaving, took off towards the hill. Wonderful museum.

    Well done Tim on bringing the Emeraude down safely and without damage to yourself or aeroplane . I had a similar experience some years ago landing a Jabiru after the engine went quiet on final approach,it’s something you never forget . Thank you for maintaining our weekly video treat. Thanks for sharing the story of your troubled first aircraft. Oh and even I have old photos where I have hair :-) You said you moved it on so I'm a little curious that the current owners don't give it the dignity of a wash. Perhaps a layer of protective dust is less of a problem than soapy water washing over it often?
    It was nice to see one of your trips out again. Any video of green trees is an encouragement during what has been a perishingly cold week or two.

    • @JodelFlyer
      @JodelFlyer  3 года назад +1

      I can't believe that I ever had so much hair (and neither can my grandchildren!) It is a shame about the Emeraude but the owner lives away now and doesn't get back very often.

    • @Payne2view
      @Payne2view 3 года назад

      @@JodelFlyer That makes sense about the owner being away. Also, my hair was nearly shoulder length once. Hard to believe that now.

    What a story, especially liked the sound effects! The odds of happening twice must be slim, but thankfully you found the problem. I love that approach! Looks great! Look fwd to the ground run.

      We were wrong to assume that the plastic we found was the only debris in the system but we were a little stressed and when we topped up and it worked well it was easy to assume that was the reason. So you fancy the Weybourne approach then? 😀

    Like the story of the engine failures. The lesson from that is if you find some FOD in the fuel line investigate to find what produced it (hind sight always 20/20). Funny Weybourne is just a hop for me and yet I have never flown in.

    • @JodelFlyer
      @JodelFlyer  3 года назад +1

      Yes, easy to assume that the plastic was the only reason when with the extra fuel she ran so well. I really enjoy Weybourne and the collection is interesting. They also have days when they drive the tanks (post lockdown that it)

      @@JodelFlyer Yes I have been to the Muckleburgh collecting but by car and flown over it, when it has been closed. It is one of those funny things, it is just a few miles from me yet I have not flown in.

    That's quite a story on your old aircraft. It's amazing how it takes time to build confidence back on a the equipment we fly, I even find that with my little 2 stoke engine. The bane of the vlogger, getting good sound', I'm with you there. I will try and make this airfield but its a long way form Somerset. Thanks for the video, perfectly times for my breakfast ;).

    • @JodelFlyer
      @JodelFlyer  3 года назад +1

      The Emeraude went on to give perfect service to its new owners without any further problems but it was just that I,didn't feel totally confident in her after that second one. Weybourne is a great field and well worth a visit. I always push out my videos at 7.30. I know it is early and some say evenings are best but it has worked for me for a long time and so I will continue to settle for breakfast time. Thanks for watching.

    Morning Tim from Angus and I on a hot and sunny Saturday in Penang. We seem to have gone from the monsoon season to warm and sticky rather abruptly. It's also Chinese New Year, so happy year of the metal ox... Loved the vlog, Muckleburgh is a top place to visit, flew in during a fly uk a few years ago. So windy I swear I could have opened the door and stepped out we landed so slowly. Hope lockdown and vaccinations are treating you well. Our lockdown has been eased slightly, so now allowed out in pairs, and restaurants are open to limited numbers and only couples. Still wife and I managed to sneak out, 😆 certainly felt like that, and even managed a couple of pints... Do hope you will be able to do likewise soon.

    How do you compare flying the emeraude to the jodel? I have a jodel but always admired the Piel. They often come up for sale in the US quite inexpensive.

    • @JodelFlyer

      The Emeraude was fast and the controls were crisp but view from the cockpit was limited and I did not find it as stable.
