    Are you confident that the removal of the, screwed down, top motor housing clamp assembly and adhesive used @ 6:03 in its place, I take it to get the sugar cube in, will be enough to hold the motor in place with varying torque forces imposed and heat generated, running over longer periods, jams and different loads. That said, fabulous innovative work here!

    Hi, superb work on such a small loco, Hornby have never fitted lighting to the class 08 00 gauge loco, they want a very high price for it though, Bachmann are the same although their class 08 is cheaper, I hope Accurascale produce a class 08 in the future, I believe it will be the best in class by a long way, have you seen those lighting diode boards for lighting? Thanks for sharing with us.

    great mods, so is the tm-07r a complete chasis kit that get used instead of the br chasis? or there some sorta motor swap goin on or is the orignal motor just transferred to a new chasis maybe? thx ill rewatch tho.. can the stay alive be used without a decoder to help like you said over insulfrogs?

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW  8 месяцев назад +1

      This stay alive i used i believe can only be used with the hm7000 decoders. Think its a voltage thing... The Tm-07r is a tomytec chassis i had and used the flywheel from, i just used the flywheel from the complete chassis as a donor peice for the 08 motor. You dont need to add a flywheel really but i could so i did. You can use other stay alives and decoders out there but in my case i wanted the Bluetooth connectivity and sound so this was my only option 👍

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW  8 месяцев назад +1

      I have only fitted stay alives to DCC locos.. essentially the decoder controls the stay alive.. thats the easy way of saying it wouldn't really work as wanted if you used a stay alive on DC.. so no for DC but yep for DCC 👍

    • @kool-k-kel
      @kool-k-kel 8 месяцев назад

      ah great info so if i wanted to just chuck the hm7000 in with no flywheel have you got the schematic for the decoder wiring to the loco, im assuming its 6 pin and you soldered direct in some way? and you chucked an 8 pin decoder in ?@@ThisWayWorksTWW

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@kool-k-kel its the 8 pin HM7000 decoder i used. The loco needs a fair bit of fettling for all the bits to fit.. you can just wire up the pickups and motor which would be 4 wires..

  • @2739chris

    Hi Richard, You have done an amazing job on that. If I just take the straight 08 and fit the 8 pin R7336 would that work? It was difficult to see which wires from the decoder go to the train. I don't really need the lights or stay alive. Happy to use a soldering iron and make it fit, it's just the wiring that's confusing me. Hope you can help.

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW  Год назад

      Ok so if you pause the video on the schematic, you'll see all the lights... The 8 pin plug shown on the schematic is what the R7336 is.. red and black wires go to the pickups of the loco. Orange and grey go to the motor. If you just wire those four wires then you loco will work. Because the loco is small id recommend fitting the stay alive otherwise it wont run great at slow speeds. What ive done in this video is hardwire the decoder into the loco. That just means i cut the plug off the decoder and soldered the wires to the pickups and motor etc
      If you do this and the loco runs backwards then just swap the motor wires around👍
      Hopefully this helps, you can actually use the Hornby TTS decoder wiring to wire the 8TXS, same wiring 👍(8TXS has an extra purple wire for lights)

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW  Год назад

      I had to use a dremel to allow the decoder to physically fit above the motor and inside the body, this is the risky bit

    Hi. I was wondering if you'd made any changes to the running profile? I have just done this conversion myself, thank you for the tutorial. I uploaded the 08 sound-set and profile. However, mine will not run correctly. It sort of speeds up and slows down, regardless of speed setting and it constantly loses power/connection. I didn't fit the stay-alive as I wasn't confident grinding away at the chassis. Do you have any ideas? Thanks again for the video. I wouldn't have attempted mine without it.

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW  10 месяцев назад +1

      The speed up and slow down sounds like acceleration settings and deceleration settings, set them to 0 to have quick responce👍, the other issue with constant connection issues sounds like bad pickups, oily wheels, lack of stay alive. This is assuming your volume is not set higher than 20 and causing the decoder to brown out though.. have a look at all the things i mentioned, you can get them to run nice ish without a stay alive however everything including the track has to be flawlessly clean 👍

    • @Froobyone
      @Froobyone 10 месяцев назад

      @@ThisWayWorksTWW Thank you. I will make those adjustments tomorrow. I have my volume set fairly low, but I'm wondering if my lights might be causing too much drain. I didn't have any 15k resistors so had to use the ones that came with the leds. 1000oms I think. If I hold the loco still it will run and I did put it up to full power with no issues. I may have to be brave and take a dremel to the chassis for a stay alive. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Froobyone the lights flickering indicate more to me you have a pickup/dirty issue 👍, i use between 15k and 22kohm depending on LEDs really.. on mine the lights can flicker when it starts to get dirty even with a stay alive. Give it a really good clean and it should not cut out so much 👍, the decoder can supply around 400ma on the outputs combined so your LEDs should be fine there
