    HM7000 seems to be a well designed and well thought out series of decoders. Well done Jenny for pointing this out to the world!👌

      The 8 pin decoders don't last long though. I have returned them at least 3 times because they burn out easily. However, the 21 pin decoders have served me well.

    Great video Jenny of the adjustments to the HM7000 decoders, it will be good info for many modellers, and the value of the decoders is excellent, well done hornby for letting you try this successful demo, brilliant

    Thank you - nice video - VERY informative, as well as dispelling some of the negative rumors floating about. Bluetooth control of trains opens up a whole new range of Smart Phone folks that can now "play" real world video games!!!

    Thanks for the video, and good for Hornby offering chips for modification.
    Two thoughts, though. Normally a mod would invalidate the warranty. Have Hornby commented on that?
    Secondly, do you know if the chuffs can be syncronised with the wheel rotation on these chips, and if so, have you tried that? I would want to get it right over a range of low speeds on any sound decoders I buy - a routine adjustment using ESU Loksounds.

    Why should the end user have to modify the locos to make hornbys cr#p fit

  • @madhatter61
    @madhatter61 6 месяцев назад +1

    I'm still curious if the end could be cut off and put on flexible wires . If hornby made this possible it would make a difference. If you needed a speaker and stay alive you could solder them directly as long as you're careful with the heat.

    Great video Jenny. Instead of trimmng the inside of the smoke box door, you think it possible to trim the decoder instead? Maybe silly question but I would sooner damage the decoder than the loco. Also there aren't any profiles for GWR locos, which one you use?

      You would need a converter, if anyone sells a 21pin to Plux22 one.

    Hi Jenny could tell me if I was to put hm7000 decodes in to my trains could I still run them on a dc layout as long as I don’t use the app to control them or will it still burn them out . Thank you

  • @DevonGeorge85

    So you didn't need to cut the plugs off to get the decoder to fit in the Mogul?
    I managed to get one without modification with the speaker plugged in on my D1.

    Honestly I'm completely sick of these decoders I bought one for my Vi trains 37 it came and the Android app wasn't out. Then found out chips could be blown and can't use DC controller i ordered a wire for the DC use it came and doesn't fit with the plugs i have. I got sick of waiting and used the DC controller then to find out there was 37 sound profile so i put an A4 sound on it it didn't work it was very laggy. Now the 37 is sat doing nothing until I am able to get a plug and the chip could be blown. This is honestly stupid I've had the chip since it came out.

    Interesting! Maybe HM/Hornby should provide flat solder tabs rather than sockets for the stay-alive and speaker connections rather than sockets on those decoders?

    The Mk 2.....Does this mean it might be able to be fitted into more N gauge models particularly classes 66, 56, 70, 37 and 47's ???. If so this would make my day !!!!

    What we really want us an all in one DCC alternative to the usual route and Hornby initially looked to be providing this. Unfortunately it's not the case yet. The lack of profiles is an issue before we even get started on the simple fact it won't fit most of there own range never mind others. And not having 6 pin sound options leaves a huge hole in there back catalogue for smaller steam sounds.
    Fingers crossed components get smaller and they open up the profile system to third party's but I suspect by then the price will rise and rise.
    It's problem at the moment is it's not an alternative - it's an "as well as"

    Good work Jenny.
    But…. personally I find a power bank is pretty much essential if using HM7000 with Bluetooth only.
    It makes keeping Bluetooth connectivity problem free. Without powerbanks I find the system is almost unusable.

    • @tunsteadmoor
      @tunsteadmoor Год назад +2

      I agree, though I have never had issues with connectivity.. I just find response and pure crawl makes it necessary even on larger locos

    • @sullivanrachael
      @sullivanrachael Год назад

      Can a small power bank be soldered directly to the bobbed HM7000 board and tucked underneath? Enough to keep the Bluetooth happy? More tinkering
