TVRM in Chattanooga TN has a preserved MS Mikado called Southern 4501. They use the steamer for excursion trips across Tennessee. History is preserved at TVRM in Chattanooga TN. Several freight locomotives say hello to steamers by blowing their horn and the steamers blow their whistle back to say hello back. Sheesh those seats look comfy. Plus the nolstagia of riding behind a steam or older diesel locomotive across the plains of Tennessee.
Awesome video! I went to train camp there and got four total cab rides there and back! That truly is one of the best places to go for steam. The '01 is my favorite steen loco at TVRM but 630 is a close second
great video ems! U were so lucky to ride in 4501s cab! I don't know why but I laughed so hard when the conductor said this. 24:45 Conductor- so where are you boys from. EMS- Marietta Georgia. Conductor- yeah, I'm from Marietta Georgia. EMS-ohh really! Conductor-No im really not. EMS-Aww.
Nice video. I am planning on coming here sometime this year or most likely in June. How do you get a cab ride? What are the names of some good streets to follow in order to chase the train? Is it easy to beat the train from Chattanooga to E Chattanooga driving the speed limits and with all traffic lights?
Hats off in appreation to you guys for making a great video . it was almost as good as being there! question; where do these railroaders get the training o know how to Eingener an old steam engine??
***** Thank for your info! Do you pay the extra fare when you buy tickets at the station? I'm heading to TVRM for the first time with a friend whose never seen a live steam locomotive before in a couple of days. so any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Seeing locomotives blow their horns or whistles at each other makes them seem alive and reminds me of Thomas and Friends

How long is the turntable at East Chattanooga
How did you get to go to the back of the train to the exterior deck?
There are doors and then end of a car like that is called a vestabueil
it was all planed ahead of time for the video.
Are you allowed to go on the back of the train on the way there without paying?
Jayce Cox You can't ride the train without paying. Tickets must be bought.
I know you have to pay I'm going on the train on the 28th
I was talking about like the caboose workout thing
Is the caboose look out thing
Jayce Cox There is no extra cost to ride there; however, with a steam engine pulling, it gets really hot in the Missionary Ridge tunnel.
How did you get to ride in the cab on the way back?
engineer6325 You have to pay extra to ride in the cab along with your regular train tickets.

Yes. You buy the regular tickets and then you have to tell them that you want the cab ride. But you can only do it one way, so choose wisely!
What kind of whistle did 4501 have?
Princeton 3 Chime, essentially a Southern Railway 3 chime step top
39 seconds of garbage sound and I'm outa here.......
