    Dozens of videos are now popping up from a media/LAN-exclusive preview event from a month or two ago that demonstrate the action features LEGO has abjectly failed to convey to the general public. Landing gear fold via a lever, wings open/close via a lever, and wings gently flap via a handle, all readily accessible. Looks exceptionally well done. Such a shame that they've decided to not show off all these great features to the general consumer public.
    Also, as of the moment of this post it's listed at $150 USD on Target's website, though $165 at Amazon.

      Thanks Jang. Hope you don't mind me saying but there's more integrity in this single comment than all of those videos combined! ❤

      That's probably because Lego is hiding it so that clone or knockoff brands dont rip it off and copy it.

      I just watched one of those videos. The designer did a fantastic job making it functional. Reminds me of the old GiJoe toys where you hold the tail and pump a lever to make a rotor spin.

    I love this and I am thrilled Lego has made a set from a very adult movie (theme). I also have issues with the Technic build, but given the size this may be justified. Interestingly, however, as it is Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter, it would be from Part One of the saga, yet, the Lady Jessica figure is clearly from Part Two as she is now a Reverend Mother. What a striking look it's got. Haven't seen the movie and not familiar with the source material (read the novel years ago), but man does this look cool and proper. Both in terms of its design and as a LEGO set build. I don't know the actual in universe size of the thing, but it 'looks' pretty close to 1:1 scale. I'm just not used to seeing an official LEGO aircraft/spacecraft build that is or 'feels like' a 1:1 scale thing, that also has a narrow, long, and large fuselage like this (kinda shaped like an actual real life military cargo helicopter or something). It just... struck me as unusual (for lego), and cool.

    There's literally no way to pack so much functionality into such a small space without Technic. Even if it was possible, it would fall apart when played with. Definitely not a display piece as much.

    • @JANGBRiCKS
      @JANGBRiCKS  Год назад +1

      I acknowledge that 100%. My issue is I don't want uncovered Technic brick pin holes (they can be easily hidden with tiles) or all of the completely out of place red & blue connectors. In other words, same build, same space, only a few more pieces, significantly more finished looking collector/display product.

    •  Год назад

      @@JANGBRiCKS Fully agreed, although I suspect most of the holes in this case, if covered, would hinder functionality. On the pin colors - as a "Technic main" I tend to "look past" the blue pins more easily but understand the issue others have. The red 2L axles exist in black, so that part could be "fixed" by modding. I wonder if it would be possible for Lego to make some sort of "pin hole cover" as an aesthetic solution for the most egregious spots. A thin circle with a thin shaft that would friction fit inside the end of the pin?

    Glad I’m not the only one who gets annoyed by Technic colour vomit! It’s fine in the more kid aimed/simpler sets, but the adult targeted sets really ought to have black or grey pins/gears to make sets look less toylike. Once I’ve built a set, I often actually buy some replacement pieces to get rid of the more obvious red/blue/yellow parts that end up looking obvious.

    having read the books and seen the lynch dune, this newest adaption is really good, so I'm glad to see they are making sets from that version. sadly, most of the figs do not look like the characters in the new movie.
    the books, and the adaptations are not for children, so it makes sense this should be an Icons/18+ set.
    thanks for pointing out the disappointingly visible technic pins. I don't mind them in some sets, but there's really no excuse when they are producing something that will primarily be a display model - and built by adults (which theoretically means more advanced builders).
