@@GeneralOtaku admittedly this is just me guessing, but you'd think with the ability to use stormlight would allow you to continue getting healthy from normal diseases.

The scene at the end, you get the real reason for the hospitals, and I remember my first time reading through how caught off guard I was by that.
About to read WoR. I thought Daniel inadvertently spoiled that Shallan has a shardblade. I hurried to re-read the chapter and holy how did that go over my head.
If shalland had 2 spren where is the second shardblade? Before she bonded with pattern she has this 10 heartbeat countdown. It never get transferred to other people so shallan has 2 blades right?
My impression was that Jasnah's soulcaster was, in fact, fake which was why she never noticed that Shallan had replaced it. This also explains why Shallan was unable to get it to work, been a while though. Also I totally missed that she had summoned a shardblade, oh well. Great summary :-)
Shallan is not shown to have a shardblade at any point in the first book. I'm pretty sure Daniel made a mistake with this. Also another mistake i noticed (not regarding Shallan but the summary overall) is that he says Sadeas wanted the King dead at the end of the book, but in fact, he did not want Elhokar dead but rather he wanted more influence with the King and he has tried to kill Dalinar because he was in his way with that, as in Dalinar had the most influence on Elhokar, so Dalinar needed to be removed from the picture. But otherwise a great summary.

I just finished reading the way of kings. It had a slow start but a great pay off! It was refreshing to read this book. I've been looking for a good piece of steak and potatoes to feast on and this hit the spot for me.
Dude the first half of the book took me a couple months, then I finished the second half in like 2 weeks. Such a slow start but such as satisfying ending. Just started WOR today.
I loved the scene with Syl guarding Cal. But my favorite was her revelation of what she truly was. I loved the joint discovery between Cal, the reader, and Syl, all learning in the same moment that she is an honorspren. Especially with the question "do spren attract the things they are named for, or are they attracted to those things?"
Wait, did you listen to this on an audiobook? I'm just interested because I have Windrunner and Oathbringer (busy completing Windrunner) and I'd imagine most people spelling Kaladin's name right all the time. After all, he is a central character in the Stormlight Archive.

I love this series sooo much. I can't wait for Oathbringer. Only 12 more days!! Also, one of my favorite parts in this book is the very first time Kaladin goes into battle carrying the bridge. Sanderson wrote it so well and I actually got chills reading it; it was so epic.

They've all been broken and are no longer willing to suffer to maintain the Pact. We're told that the one remaining Herald, Talenel, who fell during the battle, is now the sole Herald sent back to suffer in their stead to hold back the next Desolation. Dalinar giving his sword for all the Bridge crews. 3. The Dalinar and Kaladin talk about a life is priceless and even a shard is priceless so he just had to pay with one priceless thing to get 2600 priceless people back! 4. The part where Dalinar kicks Elkohar the dumb king and tells him that he is not his enemy! 5. When DAlinar in the end while going out the door tells Elkohar that he is courting his mom so get used to it! That was one of the best moments tbh 6. EVERYTHING Jasnah Kholins was soo cool. I relate to her most so that’s why!

Thank yoU! Your 40 minutes just saved me 40 hours! (well maybe more like 20-25 hours of reading, but still.) Just a few noteworthy things not included in this recap: - Wit is the King's jester, who's name is also Hoid. Hoid appears in every book of Sanderson's Cosmere Universe and knows a lot of things everyone else does not. We've yet to learn why. - After Dalanar's wife supposedly passes away, he seeks out the Old Magic from an Oracle (I think). Though we don't know exactly what this means, his price for seeking this was losing all memories of his wife. - Josana and Shallan theorize that the Parshmen are actually dormant Voidbringers. - In the epilogue of the book, Wit is sitting on the wall of the city Kholinar, awaiting a "storm". Talenel’Elin, Stonesinew, one of the 10 Heralds, busts through the gate, proclaims that the Desolation has come and that he's failed, and he collapses.
Josh A you really think it'll take 25 hours to read the 15 hundred page way of kings. Lol maybe. I have no idea how ling it took me. Great read though. I binged through the first three books of Stormlight in just under three weeks. And that was while working full time, so not a lot of sleep for me. But NO REGRETS!
Thank you soooo much for all the effort you put into this summary. I'm reading these books in English which isn't my first language and listening to you makes it easy to check if I got the story or not ;) THANKS!
Good job man. I just finished book 1 and tbh, it's pretty hard to track with everything going on. I appreciate your summary. Now on to Words of radiance!
I started reading this book not really liking a lot of the concepts the world was based on. That combined with the relatively slow start, nearly made me put it away. It however grew on me, and the characters, story and world building became really amazing and a lto of fun. Moreover, it has a more mature vibe, which I can really appreciate. Overall one of my favorite ongoing series at the moment.
Great summary! I think it's a testament to how much important detail there is in this work that you missed a few things in a 40 minute summary. Such a great book. I can't wait to start the next one in the series and will watch this summary again before that time comes!
Absolutely loved it! The only thing I was left wishing was describing the scene where Syl made Kaladin fight for Dalinar when everyone else was abandoning him.
Another small correction: shardblades don't actually cut through flesh. They cut through immaterial objects like butter, but when it connects with a living organism, it only cuts through its 'soul'. So you couldn't use a shardblade to sever an arm, for instance, but the arm would die off because the life source of the arm has been severed.
Thanks so much-having an explanation on video helps me so much being an audiobook only owner. I find without the physical book to look at the words, the punctuation, etc. and completely digest what I'm reading, I don't retain nearly as much. Watching (listening) to reviews, really helps me envision things. Thanks so very much!
WOW. Thanks so much for putting this together. I read this about four years ago and then bought Words of Radiance and planned to start that. Didn't happen. So now all these years later, I'm wanting to jump back into the story without having to re-read the 1,000-page giant. This synopsis was fantastic and really helped surface the details and emotions I remember from reading it myself. I'm all ready to continue on at this point. Bravo.
Super useful breakdown, I’m just entering the series and your explanations were simple and I watched JUST enough to understand without too many spoilers. Thanks for posting!
Excellent summary. Was just about to start up Oathbringer and realized I couldn’t really remember what happened in the first two books. Great job. Subscribed. I really appreciate the work.
Thank you so much for this. I read the first 2 books when they came out. Loved it but the story was very hazy in my memory. Always wanted to read it again but knew I wouldn't. You made my day with this overview and the one for the next book. (Also your video about 11/22/63. Thanks)
I meant to reread WoK and WoR before Oathbringer is released tomorrow. I'm watching your summaries to refresh my memory because I know when Oathbringer is delivered tomorrow I will not be able to hold off on reading it. So thanks!!
So a quick roast of your shelves… Structurally beautiful. BUT. I see side stackers. Learners. Low level of Knick knackage. You have a box. What’s in the box? WHAT’S IN THE BOX? A-
Looking forward to watching this after one day reading the book, but until then I'm trying to avoid every bit of information I can. Also, based on yours and a coworkers recommendation, I ended up buying the old man and the sea, should be a quick read.
Very well done. I've read WoK like five timesish, and i think youve hit the head on the nail as far as summary/delivery of the story. Keep it going, friend.
At first this book seemed a little overwhelming for me , but then my god it got so damn good ! I just finished WoT last week as my first fantasy series I’ve read and immediately dove into and read this book this week. My brains is just in awe of these worlds and stories, truly amazing
Rewatching in 2022 before I pick back up Oathbringer…I love that these videos exist. So damn helpful when my TBR is overflowing and I can’t justify a full reread (no matter how badly I want to). 😊😊
You sir are a HERO. I've been waiting to read Words of Radiance since it came out. Didn't because my brain is not the best tool for retaining lots of information lol. I had read Way of Kings at it's release and 3 years made my memory fuzzy. Been checking RUclips off and on for 3 years waiting for a coherent, informative recap of the first book. Thank you.
This is a useful summary. I’ve found this book nearly impossible to get into. This helped me understand the issues. I might try to get into it again but man alive, listening to this explains my issues. That’s too many characters all with their own plot lines going on with no clear through line about why any of it’s important or how they relate to anything.
This was so useful! You helped me remember what happened in book 1 , now I will check your video on book 2 - it’s great prep so I am up to speed again as I begin reading book 3!
This is so great? Cause when the book 4 finally comes out you can just watch these summaries to refresh the story in your mind and then dive into the new book right after. Thank you, Daniel, for this!
An old video, but I'm just finding it. Thanks for reminding me about this book. It's been a while and I'd forgotten much of it. This brought it all back to me.
This was more useful than u can know. I am starting Oathbringer and I couldn't remember exactly who did what when. These big books that are a part of ongoing series make it hard to refresh what happened 3 4 5 years ago
Love these videos, quick refresher before reading the new releases. Saves me time having to skim through the books refreshing my memory on events and plots, also when I do that I usually miss a lot of details
The Stormlight Archives is like my comfort food and it's such an inspiring epic. Being able to re-experience it through your video was amazing, thanks for making it! Also you're cute :)
This book was crazy good! Slow start / many unanswered questions. Some questions I didn't even know I had until the later third of the book became chapters exclusively of answers. Really great book.
This is my first use of a book summary before reading the latest addition to the series. Great Job! It would help me if you were able to have the names of the characters come up on the screen as you are talking about them. I think we all come up with our own pronunciations of the characters. Idk, this was very helpful to me thanks
Thanks for this great summary! It's been a while since I read Way of Kings and I felt like I forgot literally everything. I feel more than ready to jump into book 2!
I think that's actually a thing in the Bible. Something in the Old Testament appears about marrying your dead brother's widow. Granted, it was probably at a time when that meant making sure she and any children she had would be taken care of. And I could see it in certain cases where a girl floated between two brothers before finally choosing one. If that attraction is still there years later, long after their spouses die, why not?
This book is a masterpiece. I cried when Dalinar burst from the fight and thought “the bridgemen...the bridgemen are fighting.” Fuck yeah Kaladin, fuck yeah.
I do love that. And how, afterwards, Adolin truly understood the worth of the Code. He starts wearing uniforms without being pressed afterwards since he understood the point of always being a leader after the fight.

Lol. Just watching this and Daniel’s mispronunciation of Shallan’s name getting worse each time he says it👌🏼
salam
@@barisharslan6115 lmao "Salam" had me wheezing
According to the audiobook That is how it’s pronounced. “Shuh-Lon”
Awesome summary. As someone who took a break between Way of Kings and Words of Radiance, this was wonderful.
Great to listen to the summary before starting the second book (I had to make a long pause between them). Thank you!
Exactly why I just watched lol
Read the Way of Kings a few months ago. Now ready to jump into Words of Radiance. This summary is super useful
Thank you so much for this! Its been a year since i read the 1st book and i wanted to start reading the 2nd one soon, so this was very helpful.
I am about to start the second book and I read Way of Kings a year ago. Thank you so much.
Thanks for this. I prefer audio books so listening to a summary is better than reading one for me!
Excellent summary. Was just about to start up Oathbringer and realized I couldn’t really remember what happened in the first two books. Great job. Subscribed. I really appreciate the work.
Fantastic summary! Super helpful before going into Rhythm of War.
So thanks!!
So a quick roast of your shelves…
Structurally beautiful.
BUT.
I see side stackers.
Learners.
Low level of Knick knackage.
You have a box. What’s in the box? WHAT’S IN THE BOX?

I needed a refresher before starting book 2. Very helpful! Thank you
Rewatching in 2022 before I pick back up Oathbringer…I love that these videos exist. So damn helpful when my TBR is overflowing and I can’t justify a full reread (no matter how badly I want to). 😊😊
This was actually a very nice, entertaining summary of the series. Well done, Daniel.
Thank you.
Thanks, just got the latest issue and was totally lost in the story after all those years. Your series is helping me remember!
Read this book years ago. Thank you for this. Can now move on to book 2.
Read this years ago, coming back to the series now that more books have been published, but wanted a recap... you did a great job, thx
Coming here five years after you had to record this twice, but I thank you for that effort as this video was really helpful!
This is so great? Cause when the book 4 finally comes out you can just watch these summaries to refresh the story in your mind and then dive into the new book right after. Thank you, Daniel, for this!
Thank you , thank you , thank you. You saved me from reading the way of King’s again . Brilliantly summarized
So begins the Stormlight summary recapping 🙌
Thanks for the nicely paced summary. I needed a refresher after doing a reread of the Wheel of Time!
About to start oathbringer and thanks to your videos i will not have to do a reread. Thanks man. Youre awesome
An old video, but I'm just finding it. Thanks for reminding me about this book. It's been a while and I'd forgotten much of it. This brought it all back to me.
Thank you for this. I am picking up the second book after a long break and needed this!
Same here lol
This was more useful than u can know. I am starting Oathbringer and I couldn't remember exactly who did what when. These big books that are a part of ongoing series make it hard to refresh what happened 3 4 5 years ago
My dude actually likes doing book reports. And is a success. A+
Love these videos, quick refresher before reading the new releases. Saves me time having to skim through the books refreshing my memory on events and plots, also when I do that I usually miss a lot of details
Thank you for the great summary. I was getting ready to read book 2 but needed a refresher of book 1. Now I’m ready. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the video. Im getting ready to book 4 and I felt I needed a recap
The Stormlight Archives is like my comfort food and it's such an inspiring epic. Being able to re-experience it through your video was amazing, thanks for making it! Also you're cute :)
Thanks for this thorough summary - been a few years since I read WoK and wanted to get refreshed for Oathbringer. Much appreciated!
This book was crazy good! Slow start / many unanswered questions. Some questions I didn't even know I had until the later third of the book became chapters exclusively of answers. Really great book.
Dude awesome summary. Just found the 3rd book is out and listening to this and the 2nd book summary. Can’t wait!
This is my first use of a book summary before reading the latest addition to the series. Great Job! It would help me if you were able to have the names of the characters come up on the screen as you are talking about them. I think we all come up with our own pronunciations of the characters. Idk, this was very helpful to me thanks
slowly working on this audio book in my daily walks. thanks for the summary!
Great job. This is my fav book series. Love Aidolin the most
Thanks for this great summary! It's been a while since I read Way of Kings and I felt like I forgot literally everything. I feel more than ready to jump into book 2!
Listening to this in prep for the new book coming out. A really comprehensive and well done summary.
Baby Daniel getting Stormlight stuff shake is amazing to me!
This was such a wonderful listen. I am so happy this exists on the internet
This is super helpful thanks!
I'm reading right now so I just stopped at the part I was at and will be getting back to it😊
Super helpful as I'm not wanting to reread before the 4th. Thanks Daniel.
I’m about to start Words of Radiance and this was a great summary to call back to memory events that took place in the Way of Kings. Thank you!
This was great. Would love something like this for the Malazan books
Thank you for this, super handy coming into the new book!
I really enjoyed this video. Very easy to listen to and informative. I hope you do more of the series.
Hey, I'm on oathbringer now...I love these books more than G o T s...🙂
How did you get a copy of Oathbringer?
@@Max-fr6ny its been out for a couple of years now...
@@Max-fr6ny bookshop? Internet? Second hand store? It's not that hard...
@@fardareismai4495 for clarification, when I wrote the comment, I was under the impression that the book was not out yet. Thanks, smartass.
@@Max-fr6ny good point, but it's been out for a while, so it wasn't a stretch to assume you could have known. I'm sorry and I hope you enjoy the book.
