Must say, the honing you did on the bores during the assembly looks absolutely amazing ! I was shocked to see how good the cylinder bores were, but you in my opinion did a better job than factory ! 10/10
Good technique on the circlips, I just reassembled my XV535 engine and had to mess with the same type of clips for ages with needle nose pliers and screwdrivers. You made it look easy so that’s going be stored for next time. Thanks 😊
I’ve disassembled numerous plain brg engines and have observed wear in the shells hence the popularity of coated shells these days for instances where there is cold start contact air bubbles in the oil etc
Probably eye wateringly expensive, taking into account the cost of the new parts that are required. But if that’s what the customer wants to have done, have it done properly.
Did we miss something.... before clearances ?? Have u changed all the main and big end shells yam specify moly grease on threads and under bolt/ nut head
Not sure what clearance you are talking about? This is a Suzuki and they call for engine oil on the bolts. You wouldn't replace shells unless you needed to change an oil clearance, they don't wear out.
@@SuperbikeSurgeryTV Piston ring end gaps not mentioned in previous video, and did you use new piston rings or re-use the old ones? would love to know thanks. Great build.
22:55.. There is a special tool for this job .. You should avoid 101% use ( ..as you do) the impact ...truly you re looking so the details generally BUT you do miss details important..
There are special tools for almost everything! Not necessary for this application. I was wondering how long it would take the "special tool torque wrench police" to show up 😁
@@SuperbikeSurgeryTV on connecting rod bolt probably you thought that you should 101% MUST use torque wrench.. ..I agree with you .. ..but that bolt you used the impact affects the side thrust bearings.. so according to service manuals it's important.. Always wear gloves 😂 mate my old man was a mechanic all his life only wusses use gloves its called getting stuck in its only oil and dirt easily washed after later
If you want filthy dirty finger nails mate that's up to you. From my experience the vast majority of people that can't be bothered to even keep their hands clean usually can't be bothered to do a thorough job. It's just an attention to detail thing!
@@SuperbikeSurgeryTV when ur messing with engines ur gonna get ur hands dirty its why its classed as a dirty job considering ur messing with oil and and other parts of the engine when im tinkering or messing with bikes i wash my hands when they get too dirty i dont see point in wearing gloves i see getting ur hands dirty as part of the job if u dont like getting ur hands dirty maybe its the wrong job or hobby for u but i can see where ur coming from 👍
Loss of eyesight seems to be a common side effect of the jab, hope you keep your children away from it. “ too tight Tyron “ it was a funny angle!! , excellent work .
Never understood that two-stage torqueing - until today! Thank you, Jim!

Fantastic series to watch.
Absolutely fascinating!!!
Great stuff
Greetings from Atlanta GA
Cracking video Jim
Interesting build, amazing amount of thought gone into designing these engines.
For those wondering, common type of the sealing washers with the rubber part built into them is Dowty washers
Now that’s a sexy torque wrench!
Is it ok to reuse the crankshaft journal bolts?
Phone footage actually rivals actual camera in quality
Hey what are the ring positioning? Or where can I fine ring positioning for this bike?

Hello quick question can I replace the rod tiles/shims without doing any machining to the crank or can i just put new ones on ?
The only thing I'd like to know is cost of full engine refresh like this! What a thing to have, a brand new engine. Wow.
I hope Jim will enlighten us on the Costs of the Part's he uses, that will be interesting.

Parts bill with all the stuff for the head, Valves and Guides etc was about 3k Labour about 2k 😨 You've go to really want it!
@@SuperbikeSurgeryTV by what a job. Effectively a new engine
Where did you get your gaskets and bearings kits from?
All genuine Suzuki. Any Suzuki dealer in the world could supply.

Well done, great video Jim. Do you have to renew piston circlips? And do you use 4 piston ring compressors for each piston?
Yes, always use new circlips. Just install one piston at a time. (one ring compressor)
What year is that motorcycle?
It was a while ago.....think it was 2002.
did you measure ring end gaps ?
Talked about in a previous episode.

@@Matt-we7si Hi, I can't remember when I mentioned it exactly but it's definitely talked about. Yes new rings which it also mentioned somewhere.
We didn’t c u strip the oil pump
It's in a previous episode. It ended up with a mint secondhand one.
Eeek...didnt realise I have been using a torque wrench wrong :(
