How to assemble the Ryobi P2008VNM weedeater/string trimmer/edger

- Today I'm putting my new 18v string trimmer together and testing it out for the first time. I found this trimmer to be significantly heavier than the corded trimmer I was using until it broke a little while back. To be expected with the weight of the battery I guess. Overall though, I'm very happy with it! I was able to edge and trim around my entire yard with only the included battery.
Detailed video on guard attachment here: • The long awaited Ryobi...

I make a small amount on purchases made through the links on my channel. Thank you for the support! - Хобби
Looks like they have changed the parts since your videos. Just got mine today, but assembly was quite easy except for the tubes. They have switched to 2 set screws . You have to loosen the screws before pushing the tubes together. The trimmer works great!
Thank you skipped ahead to the part I needed to see and had my answer in about 20 seconds thanks again.
Thank you. At 6 minutes is what I needed to know. The cover got flipped accidentally and I didn't know how to make it work again. Thank goodness for your video - and for YT, which is good for "how-to", horror shows and cute little animal videos.
I should've watched this video *before* attempting the assembly. On my first try, I actually managed to attach the string guard and roller wheel in a weird way that made it practically impossible to use as an edger unless I stood on my head or otherwise contorted myself. I thought that maybe I had purchased a bizarre "left handed" version of the product. After watching your video, it all became clear and I was able to get it assembled properly with no trouble.
Glad you got it fixed up! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the help! It’s my first edger & instructions were hard for me to understand. 😂
Dang I was wondering how to flip that plate ...it musta flipped om me when I stored it..thanks for videos like this!!!
I wish the camera would’ve caught assembling the guard
Thanks
Man, the Only assembly I needed to see did not show up on your camera.
Which part were you having trouble with? Happy to help out if I can!
@@typicalthrill Installing the Guard Assembly. I had the same issue, I couldn't see it where your camera was.
@@kerifrey540 I'm sorry! I did put up a separate video covering just the guard assembly: ruclips.net/video/oO0ozU3Hqro/видео.html
Very informative and helpful.
Yes, the cutting off of 1/4 of the trimmer raises some questions. Once you have the guard lined up and put the screws in do you have to do anything with the string? Fit it in a slot? Pull it out a certain distance? And what about going from a 11” to 13”, what procedure do you?
Easy to follow video! My mom is coming over to have me help her assemble. I have the same one but my husband assembled ours. Seems easy enough?! Thank you!
Thanks for watching! I've had a few comments that say the plastic protective cover assembly can be difficult and it's not shown very well in my video. The screws are a little hard to get started, but should go in if it's lined up correctly with the cutting head. Good luck with your build!
Thx
Hi. I sure hope you might have an answer to my query... The instructions told me to removed the plastic wing bolt. Have no idea why, but I stupidly obeyed. Now it won't go back on. The bolt is simply way to short. As if the gripper that holds it on needs to be forcibly squeezed to make the sort bolt fit. My arthritic hands are incapable. Have no idea what to do now. My weeds are already 2 months overdue lol
Oh no! Is it something you could get a wood clamp on to pinch it closed? Or maybe a large pair of channellocks?
Thank you so much
Be nice if we could see what your doing..maybe watch your video and see what we can't see and redo it..
THATS WHAT i SAID! CAMERA IS NOT IN POSITION TO SHOW WHATS HES DOIN!
Yeaaap
We can see you and your couch, but can’t see the tool or how you are assembling it.
Guard will not rotate into edger position. How to fix question
I've never seen that before, so I'm not sure what the fix would be. Does it feel like the foot switch is not unlocking or is something in the way of the movement?
How to fix the string it comes out from one end
Hi, I'm not sure what you mean. To attach the string to the spool you loop it through the cutouts in the top of the spool. Hard to describe but fairly simple to do.
I have one of these string trimmer/edgers and cannot get the guard attached. when you were showing us how to do it, the camera was on you not the work you were demonstrating. What's up with that? I needed to see how the guard snaps into place, not your tee shirt and or "wholly" jeans. WOT video
Yeah, sorry about that. I did end up making a part 2 to fill in this gap.
Mine is letting out string too much..as I trimmed!? So I put plastic cutter on...
Yeah, I do kinda wish the feed amount could be adjusted. Every time you let go of the trigger, it feeds string. I tried out the cutter the other day, but I think I’m happier with the performance from the string.
Do you know if you can replace head with the ryobi 2-1- pivoting fixed head?
I don't. I'm not familiar with that head.
What’s the attachment do?
Guy really didn't show us
This video is very poor I did not see the assembling of the top part
DUDE!! YOU CANNOT SEE HOW YOUR ASSEMBLING CAMERA IS NOT SHOWING!!
Lol, not until after I was done shooting, unfortunately. I shot the head assembly again here: ruclips.net/video/oO0ozU3Hqro/видео.html Hopefully that helps!
Can't see what your doing. Was't any help.
Next time please check in advance the camera position so we see less of you and more of the equipment that you are showing assembly of!!
same here......
Hi! Which part did you need help with? I may be able to set that up in a different video
@@typicalthrill When trying to screw on the black cover over the string, the holes didn't seem to line up correctly. Do you just force the three screws in?
@@karolyn7817 Ah, gotcha. Sorry about that, I guess it was below the bottom of the frame. Mine lined up pretty well, but when you screw them in, you're actually threading the hole with the screw, so it can be a little tough to turn. As long as the little notch lines up, the screw holes should too.
I can't see shit
Not helpful.
What a terrible video. The guy is mumbling and has no mic on his body and the weed eater isn't even in the shot.
I hear him just fine
You don’t need to be mean. Just go to the next video and find something else
I also heard him just fine. I think he was terrific.
