Pretty nice that you mentioned the scrapped 4th X hunter, since not many people know about it. I wonder how different the sequels would have turned out to be with her inclusion to the series. Btw, the foot parts allowing you to jump on top of the water is absolutely a feature, since you need it to reach some upgrades in Bubble Crab and Toxic Seahorse's stages.
Haven’t played X3 for the channel yet, but you don't need splash jump for the upgrade in Bubble Crab's stage; just do the stage again after you get Crab's weapon, and the charged version reduces underwater drag, allowing you to jump straight up to the upgrade. I got every upgrade without using the splash jump.
I'm willing to believe it was both. The Splash Jump isn't necessary for the upgrades in X2 (the one people usually use it for can also be acquired with Bubble Crab's weapon), and they could've decided to keep it around for X3 after the fact.
It doesnt say, but its implied, the sigma stage is reusing the Magna Centipede stage, because they learn that sigmas base is hidden in the computer base, therefore, they need to go back and find it, and destroy the computer the virus is in, but i get what youre saying tho, great video!!
Good video, though I disagree with your assessment that the series copy/pasted too many ideas. I recognized that was Toxic Seahorse's stage before you even said anything, and I don't even really consider myself a big Megaman X nerd. I've only played the 2nd and 3rd games once each and years ago at that. Launch Octopus's stage is in the ocean and has sand, Crystal Snail's has a cave and crystal motif, and Toxic Seahorse has more of a sewer/poison vibe with the purple background. The only real similarity between them is they're all water levels.
X2 is my favorite one of the three. I find most of the levels really fun to play through. Has the best music and the double shot you get with the cannon upgrade is also the best. I'd say most of the weapons are a bit underwhelming tho but I barely use them anyway. X1 set the standard and is possibly overall a better game but feels slightly duller to me and X3 has I think the coolest bosses and a nice vibe to it but seemed like a much better game as a kid. In some instances the level design seems uninspired and very little enemy variety. Still solid tho. Anyways good video!

12:08 since this mechanic is also present in X3, I struggle to believe it's an oversight. Plus, it's almost necessary for one upgrade

I believe you meant Bubble Crab instead of Crystal Snail.

You need go use Magnet Mine to beat crystal snail. Not the spin wheel. 😂
I used both. Spin Wheel was just to do extra damage while I focused on dodging and such.
