There was a different way of putting the allay in a loop that the developers said they would fix however-
1. Summon allay and lay a stack of any item of the floor (make sure that it is also holding that item)
2. Than make it linked to the note lock just like how wattles did it
3. The allay would drop the items off to the note block and than pick up those same items and throw it. The allay would keep doing this over and over again
4. Like a loop
I'm already picturing how I can force them in manual labor for my fac- I mean politely offer them Jobs within my factory...yes 👌

For the first farm:why not just hook the observers to the notebook to minimize extra wires and noise?

Would that make a loop between the skulk sensor and note block like when the note block makes sound it triggers the skulk which then triggers the note etc?
@@br3hbmc79 there's a delay in the sculk sensor so I think no honestly. It could be a great way to make a farm using the new features. And also making it more compact and cool

I've been on the fence about them, they don't really seem great for sorting systems, but they could definitely be useful for item transport and inventory issues
Not the best, but they definitely allow for sorting of non-stackables. Dedicate a couple of these at relevant farm item filtration systems, and you won't have to pick through the drops yourself. I understand there exist methods for many items, but the allay allows not just a simpler method (sometimes, not always), but hopefully, a way to differentiate items in ways we couldn't previously. Where as we could sort out potions from non potion non-stakcables via a brewing stand, we don't really have a way to differentiate the potions themselves apart from one another aside from manual sorting.

A theory I've had ever since I learned that Allay spawn in illager cages: Vex are actually corrupted Allay. The two look so similar, I could imagine evokers performing some evil ritual to transform Allay into Vex, kinda like how they turn blue sheep red.
The sheep thing is a reference to AoE 2
Yeah, what I just thought, if you look at a vex, it kinda looks like an illager so maybe the Evokers do a dark ritual to either fuse a fallen or living pillager/vindicator with an allay to call upon when they need assistance.
I think hoppers will never be replaced. The ally is a mob. It's going to tax the cpu alot harder than a hopper.
Yes, but a handful (say, 6) isn't going to make much of a difference. Most farms that produce multiple non-stackables could use a few to sort out the few items we can't yet differentiate with hoppers and hopper interactable blocks yet.
@@polarisraven5613 yea I just meant for like youtuber mega farms lol they do keep improving it also so on standard farms these should do fine. I'm just happy they pick up faster. And that it exists.
They might be better as little helpers for gathering mass amounts of mats and overall adventuring, but i’m sure someone will find a great idea for redstone creations / farms
I can see allays being useful in farms where a Redstone signal would interfere with hoppers
the issue with your sugarcane allay farm is that the farm already has to use a hopper minecart to work, so you could easily just make the hoper minecart collect the sugarcane with one less entity and without having to go find an allay. The Hopper minecart can't get confused but the allay can. The Allay could get crushed into a wall if it is in the way of the piston while it fired. it could end up being even louder than a normal farm because of the noteblock. I just don't really see what the use of the allay is that couldn't be done just as well or better by hoppers and hopper minecarts unless it's being used for something very niche that the vast majority of players will never use.

The farm Wattles used as an example was just bad. 1 hopper and a waterway would have been the best design for it.

Silentwisperer has discovered that you can use wool to block the sound of the note blocks so that you can have Allays linked to different note blocks without having to space them out so much.

I am excited for the modding community to get ahold of the full release and go nuts with the Allay! Backpack Allay, Allay skins, Allay's that attack!
I think the reason allays dont breed is to make them a lot more valuable and precious. But if they could breed, all you need is two and thats it. But I still would like them to be able to breed to make my life easier lol

In additiopn to being linked to a note block, I think the allay could also be linked to the sound of an item that you can carry with you... like for example, a goat horn?
Allays should spawn at desert well s to finally give them a purpose
At least they'll add more dimension to the Pillager towers and Woodland mansions, most people skip mansions now that raids exist and pillager towers often go underappreciated.
@@eastwood34 Outposts have a use tho, I seek them out myself. People use them to make raid farms or to be able to consistently find pillager captains instead of relying on randomly-spawning pillager patrol. Mansions on the other hand, is pretty much useless; they're so rare, so far away, and basically has no unique loot. I'm glad that they decided to make allay spawn there.
That doesn't make sense
It makes sense that they are captive by pillagers, because they bare a strong resemblance to the Vexes. It kinda makes it seem like pillagers capture them for the Evokers to transform into their ghostly minions.

I was thinking it would be interesting if they could breed using totems of undying. It would be like you’re sacrificing 2 respawns for each new one.
Breeding doesn't seem fitting to alley, maybe they could add it so we can somehow tame Vexs?
I was thinking the same. Maybe giving one a totem of undying? It's expensive, but once you've got a raid farm going, or just reliably can launch a raid anytime you want, it's quite affordable.
Or the process consumes a (renewable) music disc. Finally give Docm77's creeper music disc farm a utilitarian use.
Him : let's say I don't have a hopper but only allays
Allay : *drops the sugarcane on the noteblock*
Also him : *checks the "hopper" with minecart*
I definitely see a potential use for the Allay to be used to help semi-automate sorting unstackable items in a relatively simple manner. Just keep an Allay nearby, do a noteblock setup with hoppers, then drop your unstackables, give one to the Allay, and ring the noteblock for that item. Once it sorts all the items of that type, give it another and ring that noteblock. Rinse and repeat until your unstackables are sorted.
Or keep them in seperate cells, a cell to each non-stackable type, with as many allay per cell as needed to keep up with non-stackables produced, all linked to that cell's noteblock, all picking through the items dropped over a locked hopper for the time frame they are allotted before those items proceed to the next cell. Full automation of non-stackable sorting. Certainly it requires a lot of allay, but not only can it simplify the process, it can pick through stuff we couldn't previously pick through (like only Fire Resistance Potions, rather than just anything that passes for a potion). But as it's an entity, it's best not to go too overboard, as it generates more lag than usual, being an entity with pathfinding.
I feel like the allay will stay as a hopper alternative for new redstoners. Maybe they can be used in tandem with sculk because they both have connections with sounds in one way

Maybe, though it's kind of rare, and a bit slow. Still looking forward to simpler or more selective non-stackable sorters it provides though.

I can see uses for the allay,won’t replace hoppers but compliment them, I can see ways to turn them into nonstackable item sorters

16 blocks =1 chunk so I feel like chunk farms are gonna become quite popular soon
I just realized that the Allay is basically an inventory extension. And you can give them shulkers! So you could totally just have 30 allays following you around at all times
Sculk sensors make for great allay note block triggers and are a lot more compact that redstone repeaters. The allay will trigger the sculk sensor which will keep it within range of the noteblock and sensor.
imagine the Allay and copper golem working together :,) some day...

@@bg650 I was excited for the Copper Golem until the second they announced that all it does is run around pressing buttons. Like, a ranged Damage dealing ally mob would have been nice, you know? Give it a crossbow or something and I'd be leaning towards copper, but as a random input generator, it's already beat with existing redstone, and bats in tripwire cages.
how cool would it be if you give the allay an empty bundle and it starts to pick up everything and then gives you when its full, it would be an excellent way to fill bundles automatically

The thing about The allay is that when it’s holding something it can’t be hurt… so let’s say you give it cobblestone and you have a bunch of tnt blowing up the ground so while the tnt is blowing up it goes and collects the stone and u can make a farm out of this. You could also just make mining more efficient, like if your mining sand you can give it sand so it picks up everything you missed and it just speeds up everything
The allay can still be hurt but just not by the player because one of my allays got hurt by a soul campfire but they regen really fast so its hard for them to die
the best use ive found is having them clean up the items dropped from leaves in my tree farm, no more do i have to linger and wait foe all the leaves to despawn while i pace around collecting dumb saplings. now i just go in chop wood, and walk away while the minions take care of the peasant work
You can breed allay with music and a amethyst in their hand. You only need one, and you can make as many as you have amethyst.
I do think it would be cool if there is a very rare chance of an alay just spawning randomly like a pink sheep.

Because copper golem and glare were even more useless, like the copper golem is literally just a button randomizer, which you can do the same thing with pressure plates and chickens, and you know why the glare is useless.
@@blazie42069 Agreed. Shame they gave the copper golem such a useless function, I think everyone was expecting a ranged damage dealing ally mob.
Every mob gets a little extra that we didn't expect. Hopefully they add something worth while with the Allay.

What about underwater? will it follow going underwater? will it drown? can you give it a sponge, coral, ?? collect stuff from a underwater structure, breathe via a conduit?
11:54 This feature is actually a good feature for the allay. It's also the same feature how a fox can use a diamond sword with its mouth, yet alone pop a totem when get killed.
Maybe the Allay will be able to use a bundle? Imagine giving it one and it just cleans up anything on the ground until the bundle is full.

HEY WATTLES they’re new hidden rooms in the Deep Dark city that players can hide in; they also contain chest but the loot consist of potatoes, carrots, and snowballs (with an chance of an enchantment book)
I think allays could be good for building stuff in survival. , you can have an team of Allays 1 with an shulker to carry construction materials and the others to pick up blocks that fall to the ground , so you don't have to go down and pick them up
Instead of a clock on the note block sugar cane farm, you could link it to the observer so it only fires when the piston pushes
Would be neat if they can link to a jukebox for much longer while its playing a music disk. Imagine your farm just playing Otherside while the Alay just flutters around to a collection system.
What if the jukebox is how they breed? They have a randomness added to them that has some require different disks and when that song plays they pop out a smaller allay, or you need the new music disk to breed them
Thanks for giving me the thought that playing a music disc should be the allay breeding mechanism.
Now I'm imagining a flock of allays just multiplying in the hundreds as soon as the music starts.
Pls answer my one question can the allay hold unstackable items in like 64 or something cause then we could create storage items for unstacable itmels
I could see some potential for using them to sort non-stackable items, such as a skeleton spawner autofarm, so that bows get sorted for fuel and leather armor gets sorted for dispensing on a cactus. Being able to just give them leather and have them pick up all leather items would be really helpful there.
Timing could be an issue, but using a fleet of allays with a world-eater could get you a lot of ore very quickly, especially if moving the noteblocks doesn't break the connection (only bedrock?).
Or even just fixing the simple "I've got a bunch of cows in a hole, and every time I build out, some escape" problem. There may even be instances where it would be dangerous to fetch items from battle that they'd be useful in, like blaze rods, if they had a way to get fire protection.
Also, golden apples should cure vexes into allays.

I feel like hoppers will be more useful in storage rooms and crazy redstone contraptions. Allays might be used to carry unstackable items in maybe slime farms or even speed up or make farms easier to do

slime farms aren't really a good example, because they only drop one item (slime balls) and it is stackable up to 64. most farms don't drop multiple different types of non-stackable item, so in most cases that item can just be put in the final chest without having to have a sorter for it, because all other items will have already been sorted into other chests.
@@brucetoons Raid farms will hopefully benefit (I know they already produce a ton of lag, so the bennefit is really ify). Was going to say skeleton spawner grinders, but remembered about the armorstands mechanic. Fish farms (both, classic and revised version) produce multiple non-stackables though, no? I know they can mostly be sorted with existing mechanics, but I think the bows and rods still end up in the same location, and the books and saddles too end up together in the unsorted chest. A Filtration Cell to pick apart the saddles from the books, and another to pick apart the fishing rods from the bows would be convenient. Heck, maybe the Allay could be used to sort enchanted books apart from one another? Though considering how every book usually has multiple enchantments, not too likely to work even if it's implemented like that :(
Unless they change enchants to list alphabetically, that simplifies things a bit (allay will no longer deny picking up books just because the enchant arrangement differs from the one it carries, and you now know exactly where to look from the get-go when looking for a specific enchanted item).
Issue with alphabetically is if that changes depending on the game language, if not then it's a non issue
@@polarisraven5613 yeah it would be useful for that, the thing is just that that's really only one use. there aren't really a tonne of farms that produce more than one non-sortable item. I don't think the allay shouldn't be added, I just don't think it really deserves the hype it's getting. it would be fine to me if it got added if it didn't keep us or delay us from getting the other more interesting option.

11:17 tho allays can't breed in the typical sense,they can be duplicated with an amethyst shard,with a 5 minute cooldown and they do dance to music discs (bedrock 1.19)

You can use both water and allay for sugar cane farm. I have seen that some of the sugar cane doesn't get dropped into the water. This is a good solution for that
I hope I can use these to connect farms. I can see a bunch of these going across a glass chamber on the ceiling carrying iron from my iron farm over to my smith shop or what ever
What if i don't want from the ally to follow me, for example going down to tge caves system where the ally can get killed by lava or maybe friendly fire ? Dogs you can just click on sit but the ally?
Allay + portals. Do they track you in, or do they not? Is there a way to get them to stop following you that doesn't involve some kind of "note block cage" to tie them to?
An interesting idea for mojang to add other than allays dancing to discs is to get scared and drop their items when u play disc 11
100 percent agree on allays being able to dance and breed, also kinda want them to be able to use swords and or bows or crossbows, but that’s wishful thinking, can’t wait for them to be in the game!
I think they are too much overpowered (also why ppl chose it instead of the cooper boy)

Imagine if you could have an iron door with a doorbell near it that activates a little jingle with some note blocks then has an allay collect and drop something onto the note block then have it collected into a hopper which then has something detect the item and open the door.
Plus with the replace hopper aspect you are still using double the amount of iron you would use to just make a hopper to make a hopper minecart so it defeats the purpose.

How many items can it carry? Can it hold multiple shulker boxes if they were all for example empty or contained the same stuff?
Many questions answered! One more: if you cover a note block so it doesn't make sound, will the allay link to it when it is played?
I hope Allay will sit on a Jukebox if they hear a music from it. A different behavior like Parrots.
They really should've made it tamable and breedable and a little fight would've been great

Ooh thats an amazing idea, but also what if you could cure vexes too? like theres a new super rare music disc that drops when an alley is killed by a pillager and playing it while right clicking a vex with a cookie turns it into an alley. would make them farmable while still being pretty endgame

Honestly the main appeal to Allays for me was the item collection. If anything, that would be what I use them for the most. I understand people are upset the other mobs didn’t win (I liked all of them), but I don’t think this is the same magnitude as the glow squid situation.
Do allay teleport? Like if I ender pearl or fly a long distance? Or even teleport back to spawn chunks with a daylight teleporter

You could make songs or jingles with the note blocks so when your farms are on it makes music too just thoughts lol

from watching the sugar farm, my conclusion is just build it like I always have with a hopper minecart running under the farm and a hopper to drop it in the chest
You can also use water stream to carry the sugar cane, you will have a bit loss but it is a very cheap option.

@@Feorblack I've done that alot too but I usually have a ton of rails from the mines by the the time I build the farm especially after 1.18 since mines seem easier to find now ... while coal got harder ...
You could link it so that when the pistons are fired it could activate the note block.
what if the allay breeds via music? the issue with trying to feed to breed is that the function is taken up by the receive item command. So, it could be that you play music and the allay do a little dance together and breed that way
My question is, is there a way to keep allay in a certain area? I mean without trapping them. I tied all mine to a post with leads. However, everytime I go through to the nether they appear there and the leads are laying around my base in the overworld. So far they seem completely useless. Like the axiotle.
used the sensor to trigger the note block. then delay it a bit, so that everytime the piston activated the note block will be activated later on
Allay has a 30sec timer (but can be fixed by a 25sec redstone clock?)
But If we are 15-30 blocks away it won’t pick the items from the farms and the items will eventually despawn….. (Might change or the community might find a fix for this too?)

Getting major Thaumcraft era vives with the Allay. Glad we have it but do agree, we should be able to breed them and maybe have a better way to contain them otherwise they're about as good as bees.
A question wattles can we give effects to The Allay like speed 2 and regeneration?

Wait can you just have 20 allays with totems of undying following you at all time? What about an allay to hold your axe when you’re in a cave? That’s pretty useful actually depending on how long they follow you and how many can follow at once

I have a question I was hoping you would answer: does the allay link to a noteblock if it's played first by redstone? You've shown how it can stay linked to one that's first played by the player and then sustained by redstone but say you have a contraption that uses noteblocks or just setup a tune, will the allay(s) link to those noteblocks?
It re-links every time so it isn't about player interaction
does the allay get lost? when taking two home from pillager outpost, both disappeared on the way. one when I was in a village, and the other when i was traveling by boat
I think they would be really nice in a raid to pick up loot so you don’t have to worry about it
It would, unless it happens to be between yourself and an angry pillager that happens to be within crossbow range, or flies in front of the arrow you sent at said pillager. Genuinely the concept is nice, but until it's a renewable mob, best keep them out of hostile environments.
I wonder if you could ”pause” them from following you, like you brought one home but are going on an adventure and dont want to have it with you

I don't know why but I feel like something as happy as an allay should be bred with wither roses
I mean, you can already breed bees with Wither Roses
In my experience, allays could be put on a lead, however only if they are given another item first. I don't recommend giving them a lead because switching out their item was difficult.
