Hello 🙂🙂🙂 I have been eating Keto for about 2/3 weeks and no weightloss am I doing something wrong. In the beginning I think I was eating too much protein. I may not be doing keto correctly. I need help😔😔😔
I cut out carbs and ate an easy basic keto diet for two weeks. At first I was absolutely exhausted , tired and I felt that I was possibly going into a depression. But about the 5th day in, I noticed my energy shot up and mental fog was resolving. I really had a hard time believing that in a few days I could feel so different. I didn't realize how bad I felt every day, until I felt better.
Great video! I am doing keto for my husband, who needs to lose 150 lbs to enable his surgeon to remove prostate cancer. He is doing keto, in a fight for his life. I have conquered diabetes in the last six months, delivered by the Lord! So wanted rid of that evil disease! So, my husband Mark and I are doing keto for life. Just beginning...in the last month. We have many questions, mainly about what to eat. And must we eat 75% fat, and if we don’t get the macros right, will it stop Ketosis? We will be watching, and listening. The longer I eat this way the easier it gets. I find myself only eating 2 meals a day without needing another. But I have found if I walk or exercise more then I may need that third meal or snack sometimes. But I am fully fat adapted now. Bacon no longer makes me feel a bit sick when eating of the mornings. I can now eat bacon,sausage or ham and eggs of mornings just fine. I prefer having breakfast and then one more meal between 3-5 o'clock. This works well for me. I don't worry too much about trying to actually count macros,,I just stay as low carb as I possibly can. I make sure i get my Veges,protein and fats each day. I've also lost weight very slowly,,but that's ok cause I'm positive I've lost inches. I'm down 2-3 sizes in my cloths,,hooray!! I read where Jillian Michaels really bashed the keto diet. She said it's another weight loss fad altho she did say a few positive things too. But I really don't understand how she can say its just another fad diet. She said putting our body in a state of ketosis is not good for us. Well, eating carbs which turn to sugar,,even healthy whole wheat or grains still spikes insulin which causes health issues,,which causes Dr visits and prescription meds with terrible side affects,,it's just a vicious cycle. I have fought weight gain my whole life,,which I did loose some doing the low fat diet,,but I stayed hungry. I would go to bed hungry almost everynight. I would loose weight for a short while,,but I could not keep it off. This life style diet I'm on now proves to me each day that I'm finally on the right track. I just wish the world would open their eyes to the possibility that there is a healthier way to live. Oh well,,that's why we have great teachers like you Tara. Your doing a great job!!
Great comments Vickie! Yes--it's frustrating when people bash the diet-- I've done a lot of research on it (I was a huge skeptic). The proof is in the pudding--or so they say. Don't let other people's opinions get ya down. It's just that--an opinion. What SHE is doing works for her. I have been on &off fasting for the past year but I would crash and burn on my refeeds. Someone recommended that I try doing keto with IF for a while to get the habit of eating the foods that support my weightloss journey and health goals. I would like to eventually transition into 24/36/72/96 hr fasts. Im really trying to heal my diabetes. Right now I'm fasting approx 16-20 hrs with keto. Been doing it for 7 days with exercising 4-5 days. I just found your channel. Glad I did!
Hi, day 2 of keto, I felt so tired today it was a drag to complete my spin class this morning and I’m a very active person. Thank God I’m working from home. I’ve been craving sugar, luckily I did some research and I found some keto friendly cookies, mind you I was never a dessert eater.

I started OMAD about two weeks ago and I test for ketones daily a couple times. I've noticed that by 11AM after having fasted since no later than 7 the night before I have trace amounts of ketones. By 4PM when I begin to eat for the day, My levels are usually showing >80mg/dl - 160mg/dl. Within an hour or two it drops back down to trace levels. I limit my carb intake severely and no more than two slices of bread a day when I eat. Also, no snacking at all during the day. I just keep my water up and have a few cups of hot green tea with honey. I feel great and have lost about 16lbs since I started.
Hi Tara I've been on the keto diet now for 11 days and I am so sick to my stomach. Other than that I feel pretty great. Thank you for your videos that are free! And thank you for not trying to sell me something.
I cut out carbs and just ate meat, fats and veggies and I felt like crap. So kudos to those who can do it. I’ll stick to my white rice. I fast 18 hrs a day so in theory I should reach ketosis after 12hrs of fasting.
Keto diet works well. However, it took nearly 3 weeks to get into Ketosis. Yes, I gave up carbs but was eating foods that sabotaged my efforts: Onions and apples. Doing well now. Thanks for the great advice and explanation
Ive been eating steak, hamburger, spinach, and broccoli. Along with maybe 2 tortillas at 25 g carbs each per day. I think the fig us lifting after about as week but u need variety!

At the risk of being inappropriate please forgive me for saying that you're a total babe. Tomorrow will be my 6th day on the Carnivore Diet. I'm pretty sure i entered ketosis yesterday, day 4, as i felt like a sickly stranger in my own body. I was battling fatigue and a few bouts of nausea throughout most of the day. The good news is that today i unexpectedly felt amazing. I was shocked by the quick turnaround. My energy level could be characterized as having a massive pep to my step. So far this self experimenting with the Carnivore Diet is going swimmingly. Anyway, thank you in advance for all of the insightful content you'll be producing in the weeks and months ahead that i'll be consuming. And, thanks for being easy on the eyes. Thanks for the vid! super clear and accessible structure of the info :) Been doing water fasting for 2 yrs now and starting my next 72hr fast today. Been on a keto diet for a day and a half now to ease into the fast. Didnt know if the two days keto diet prep should have been extended a lil. i think I've cut out carbs all together. i just eat three eggs wirh guacamole. u fast for 16 to 18 every too days. I've been on keto since June. I'm struggling all day. i would love ro be on your chat with you Tara
I've heard that it's important to take a "cheat day" once or twice a month. But how badly does this affect my ketosis? Is it a total reset requiring another 3-7 days to get back in? And how many carbs does it take to get out of ketosis. I've heard you can be in ketosis with 20-50 grams per day. I'm a big guy. Does that mean my threshold is higher?
I’m almost 67, about 50# overweight and have been doing keto for 3 weeks. I SEE physical changes happening yet my keto sticks are still pink. Am I still burning carbs in all my excess fat? We are keeping carbs at less than 20. Not counting macro’s which I have no clue how to. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
I am 5'10" and weigh 180lbs. I am a little overweight but not too bad. This water calculation works out to be at least 22 8 oz. glasses of water a day!

Tara, please explain what you meant by going into "full ketosis". I have been eating keto for ten days now, and still the urine strip test indicates just "trace" amounts of ketones in my urine. I have consistently kept my carbs under 20g per day, and am also monitoring my calorie intake and protein intake. I keep reading how 2-7 days is the norm....what should I reasonably expect to be happening. at this stage? Should I be further into ketosis by now? I have not lost and weight at all yet, but notice that craving for carbs are gone and I am definitely going longer between meals without getting hungry. I am 61 years old, perhaps 20 pounds overwieght, and I am reasonably active, but not doing hard workouts. I need some encouragement!

I thought it was half your body oz in water 🤔 thats what my cardiologist told me. I weighed 180 lbs, so she said to aim for 90 oz of water. 180oz of water i think would be crazy!

So let me see if i understood right... if you are a beginner it takes 7 days to 4 weeks... and if you are already fat adapted its 3 days... how low for carbs on a woman? Because i read 50 but at 50 i dont go above 0.3 ketones
Thanks for the info Tara! I’ve just recently started a healthy keto- with high fat and little to no carbs. I’m also doing intermediate fasting - only eating from 12-8pm each day. I don’t have a problem with this fasting schedule, as I’ve done it before. My ultimate question is I don’t know how much to eat during this 8 hour block to put my body into ketosis, or remain. Is there a certain fat/calorie cut off?? Thanks so much.
As far as the water in ounces, it should be 1/2 your weight in ounces. Example: At 150.pounds it should be 75 ounces. If you drink your weight in ounces would be too much water.
I've been doing keto for a few months, but I just noticed that I am storing water (I drink at least 116 ounces per day to keep hydrated). My feet and hands are getting puffy, and I cannot understand where I am going wrong. I haven't tried electrolyte drinks yet, could this be the reason?? I also fast with a 16-8 schedule (with coffee fat bomb first thing in the morning, then not eating anything until afternoon-then stopping eating after being up for 8 hrs). Since starting keto, I have insane amounts of energy (where I don't need much sleep or get brain fog at all during the day). I don't want to stop drinking water either because I feel so great, sans the swelling. Have you heard of this before? Side note: I'm only exercising about 30 minutes per day right now (alternating between swimming, walking, lifting weights, and dancing), but I will get into 2 hour workouts every other day once my gym reopens (due to coronavirus shutdowns). Since amino acids are a source of fuel for the body like glycogen and ketones, will I be taking my body out of ketosis if I continue to supplement amino acids in my diet?
I'm trying to get in to ketosis, I get confused because one source will say a certain type of food is ok for the KD and another source will say it's not keto friendly , and I'm still not in ketosis , can I drink double cream in my coffee and can I eat red chillies in my salad ? Hi Tara. Thanks for the video. I went keto 2 weeks back. I am trying to keep carbs below 21gms. Also i have lost 6+ lbs during this while. However, i dont feel any symptoms of ketosis yet. No keto breath, sweat , etc. I did feel a bit of energy did for a few days at the beginning but nothing like the keto flu. Am i in ketosis?

So I want to start a keto diet but I have a very physical demanding job and a very high metabolism. I'm skinny and not trying to lose weight, I looking for an increased mental and physical performance. Is a keto diet and long term fasting right for me?
You can do a slow start to the keto diet, basically where you go into it slowing declining the amount of carbs and sugar you consume over a 3-4 day period. For example: If you want to start and you don't want to feel like you are starving, start the first day with the goal of eating 40 g of carbs, next day 35 g, next day 30g, etc. Until you are at 20 grams of net carbs a day. Sugar is easier because you can buy alternative sweeteners that taste essentially the same, basically tricking your body into thinking you're eating it, without the ramifications of it. What helped me a lot was drinking tons of water. When you get hungry, drink an entire glass of water and do something distracting. If that doesn't help, grab a small handful of almonds and eat them slowly. To help with portion control, use small plates and put down your fork after every bite, focusing on your food (the texture, taste, and your chewing). Pretty soon, you will be full with a very tiny amount of delicious fat fueled food. I hope this helps!

I am wondering if I am eating too much protein and good carbs. I am 69 and weigh 260 lbs. my lean body mass is 184 lbs. is eating 184 grams of protein and 20 grams of carbs correct? How much fat should I eat daily?
What is your opinion on Coffee with Milk ? (The varietys of Milk) or these multivitamin tablets. I guess both the milk and the tablets have sugar in them, does it drop me out of ketosis ? And what about alkohol ? Do you recommend a certain ammount or just none at all ? To find protein amount you need to eat: 1. Calculate your body fat percentage. There are websites where you can look at pictures of people (male/female) to see what your body fat percentage might be based on body mass, etc. That way you can get an average of it, or you can get the correct amount from using calipers, a body fat scale, etc. 2. Next, find your lean body mass (your weight times your body fat percentage and then subtract that total, ie: if you are 150 pounds and your body fat percentage is 26% then your lean body mass would = 111 lbs of lean mass (150 x .26, 150 - 39= 111). 3. To find the amount of grams of protein you should eat, multiply your lean mass by 0.8. (111 lbs of lean mass x 0.8= 88.8 grams of protein daily) However, since you are 63 years old, you need to consume more protein to maintain lean mass (as we age we need to consume more protein to keep from losing muscle mass), so you should multiply your lean body mass by 1.0 or 1.5 times your lean mass (111 lbs of lean mass x 1.5= 166.5 grams of protein daily to maintain and/or build lean mass and muscle). ***For anyone reading this comment and you are below the age of 60, multiply by up to 1% of your lean body mass to find the amount of protein you need if you are wanting to build up muscle mass. ***For anyone reading this comment and you have a chronic disease, multiply up to 1.5% of your lean body mass to find the amount of protein you need to help repair your muscles and soft tissues.

First, consult with your doctor on how you can do keto safely. Keto flu passes as soon as your body adjusted to the change. Remember our bodies are used to using carbs for energy, with keto we are drastically lessening those carbs in order to use fats. You just have to make sure you are well hydrated
Dont stop!! You will ruin all your efforts. You're almost there so don't quit. Hopefully the Gatorade and broth helped. You were just depleted in Sodium and Potassium. Hang in there.

Hello Tara, Thank you for taking time to make a video for Us. I'm looking for something natural to curve appetite. I'm super sensitive to stimulants. Even natural healthy vitamin supplements designed for curving appetite. When I take them, I feel very excited, nervous and shaky. I begin to feel like my organs and heart are wrapped with duct tape and need more space to move/breathe.. lol I'm sure you get the picture. Furthermore I take medication for a treatment plan that is very important at this time and this medication causes a carb craving. In reality, once you start the process, you would not hve any craving or you wouldn't feel hungry... To kick start you can consider coffee or tea as suppressant

I started OMAD about two weeks ago and I test for ketones daily a couple times. I've noticed that by 11AM after having fasted since no later than 7 the night before I have trace amounts of ketones. By 4PM when I begin to eat for the day, My levels are usually showing >80mg/dl - 160mg/dl. Within an hour or two it drops back down to trace levels. I limit my carb intake severely and no more than two slices of bread a day when I eat. Also, no snacking at all during the day. I just keep my water up and have a few cups of hot green tea with honey. I feel great and have lost about 16lbs since I started.
Fasting forced ketosis will get non diabetics into ketosis in 48-72 hrs.

I cut out carbs and just ate meat, fats and veggies and I felt like crap. So kudos to those who can do it. I’ll stick to my white rice. I fast 18 hrs a day so in theory I should reach ketosis after 12hrs of fasting.

At the risk of being inappropriate please forgive me for saying that you're a total babe. Tomorrow will be my 6th day on the Carnivore Diet. I'm pretty sure i entered ketosis yesterday, day 4, as i felt like a sickly stranger in my own body. I was battling fatigue and a few bouts of nausea throughout most of the day. The good news is that today i unexpectedly felt amazing. I was shocked by the quick turnaround. My energy level could be characterized as having a massive pep to my step. So far this self experimenting with the Carnivore Diet is going swimmingly. I've heard that it's important to take a "cheat day" once or twice a month. But how badly does this affect my ketosis? Is it a total reset requiring another 3-7 days to get back in?
And how many carbs does it take to get out of ketosis. I've heard you can be in ketosis with 20-50 grams per day. I'm a big guy. Does that mean my threshold is higher?

I’m almost 67, about 50# overweight and have been doing keto for 3 weeks. I SEE physical changes happening yet my keto sticks are still pink. Am I still burning carbs in all my excess fat? Tara, please explain what you meant by going into "full ketosis". I have been eating keto for ten days now, and still the urine strip test indicates just "trace" amounts of ketones in my urine. I have consistently kept my carbs under 20g per day, and am also monitoring my calorie intake and protein intake. I keep reading how 2-7 days is the norm....what should I reasonably expect to be happening. at this stage? Should I be further into ketosis by now? I have not lost and weight at all yet, but notice that craving for carbs are gone and I am definitely going longer between meals without getting hungry. I am 61 years old, perhaps 20 pounds overwieght, and I am reasonably active, but not doing hard workouts. I need some encouragement!

Thanks for the info Tara! I’ve just recently started a healthy keto- with high fat and little to no carbs. I’m also doing intermediate fasting - only eating from 12-8pm each day. I don’t have a problem with this fasting schedule, as I’ve done it before. My ultimate question is I don’t know how much to eat during this 8 hour block to put my body into ketosis, or remain. As far as the water in ounces, it should be 1/2 your weight in ounces. Example: At 150.pounds it should be 75 ounces. If you drink your weight in ounces would be too much water.
I've been doing keto for a few months, but I just noticed that I am storing water (I drink at least 116 ounces per day to keep hydrated). My feet and hands are getting puffy, and I cannot understand where I am going wrong. I haven't tried electrolyte drinks yet, could this be the reason?? I also fast with a 16-8 schedule (with coffee fat bomb first thing in the morning, then not eating anything until afternoon-then stopping eating after being up for 8 hrs). Since starting keto, I have insane amounts of energy (where I don't need much sleep or get brain fog at all during the day). I don't want to stop drinking water either because I feel so great, sans the swelling. Have you heard of this before? Side note: I'm only exercising about 30 minutes per day right now (alternating between swimming, walking, lifting weights, and dancing), but I will get into 2 hour workouts every other day once my gym reopens (due to coronavirus shutdowns). Since amino acids are a source of fuel for the body like glycogen and ketones, will I be taking my body out of ketosis if I continue to supplement amino acids in my diet?

Hi Tara. Thanks for the video. I went keto 2 weeks back. I am trying to keep carbs below 21gms. Also i have lost 6+ lbs during this while. However, i dont feel any symptoms of ketosis yet. No keto breath, sweat , etc. I did feel a bit of energy did for a few days at the beginning but nothing like the keto flu. Am i in ketosis?

the longer you are in keto the less hungry you'll feel
You can do a slow start to the keto diet, basically where you go into it slowing declining the amount of carbs and sugar you consume over a 3-4 day period. For example: If you want to start and you don't want to feel like you are starving, start the first day with the goal of eating 40 g of carbs, next day 35 g, next day 30g, etc. Until you are at 20 grams of net carbs a day. Sugar is easier because you can buy alternative sweeteners that taste essentially the same, basically tricking your body into thinking you're eating it, without the ramifications of it. What helped me a lot was drinking tons of water. When you get hungry, drink an entire glass of water and do something distracting. If that doesn't help, grab a small handful of almonds and eat them slowly. To help with portion control, use small plates and put down your fork after every bite, focusing on your food (the texture, taste, and your chewing). Pretty soon, you will be full with a very tiny amount of delicious fat fueled food. I hope this helps!

I am wondering if I am eating too much protein and good carbs. I am 69 and weigh 260 lbs. my lean body mass is 184 lbs. is eating 184 grams of protein and 20 grams of carbs correct? How much fat should I eat daily?

To find protein amount you need to eat:
1. Calculate your body fat percentage. There are websites where you can look at pictures of people (male/female) to see what your body fat percentage might be based on body mass, etc. That way you can get an average of it, or you can get the correct amount from using calipers, a body fat scale, etc.
2. Next, find your lean body mass (your weight times your body fat percentage and then subtract that total, ie: if you are 150 pounds and your body fat percentage is 26% then your lean body mass would = 111 lbs of lean mass (150 x .26, 150 - 39= 111).
3. To find the amount of grams of protein you should eat, multiply your lean mass by 0.8. (111 lbs of lean mass x 0.8= 88.8 grams of protein daily)
However, since you are 63 years old, you need to consume more protein to maintain lean mass (as we age we need to consume more protein to keep from losing muscle mass), so you should multiply your lean body mass by 1.0 or 1.5 times your lean mass (111 lbs of lean mass x 1.5= 166.5 grams of protein daily to maintain and/or build lean mass and muscle).
***For anyone reading this comment and you are below the age of 60, multiply by up to 1% of your lean body mass to find the amount of protein you need if you are wanting to build up muscle mass.
***For anyone reading this comment and you have a chronic disease, multiply up to 1.5% of your lean body mass to find the amount of protein you need to help repair your muscles and soft tissues.

First, consult with your doctor on how you can do keto safely. Keto flu passes as soon as your body adjusted to the change. Remember our bodies are used to using carbs for energy, with keto we are drastically lessening those carbs in order to use fats. You just have to make sure you are well hydrated

Thank you for taking time to make a video for Us. I'm looking for something natural to curve appetite. I'm super sensitive to stimulants. Even natural healthy vitamin supplements designed for curving appetite. When I take them, I feel very excited, nervous and shaky. I begin to feel like my organs and heart are wrapped with duct tape and need more space to move/breathe.. lol I'm sure you get the picture.
