So as someone who had Planxty (and Sweeny's Men before them) as part of the music of my time, I am a little protective of their legacy. In this version the legacy is in very safe and sensitive hands indeed.
I come to this video over and over, for moments of calm and beautiful peace. So much turmoil in the world and in the USA right now... the sound of your voice and strings makes it easier to bear. Happy to be a Tuesday Owl. While my mandolin gently weeps. Cheers.
I scarcely listen to Irish music these days, having been more fascinated transcribing & playing Scandinavian folk tunes. Videos like this remind me of what I miss, though. I'm in Boulder, and very happy to see a talented and serious musician of your caliber up in FoCo. Cheers!
as a kid who spent a lot of time on the white strand and spanish point, i always loved andy's song. this is just gorgeous, and your skills are fantastic.
Last Tuesday I saw an Instagram post that you played with this song. I had never heard it before and it struck a chord with me. I searched youtube because I loved it and found this version. I find myself running this version at least twice a day for the past week and it unexplainably produces tears everytime. Absolutely stunning rendition of a song I have never heard before.
Should I be fortunate enough to arrive in Heaven someday when my time is over, this will be the soundtrack... your heavenly songs. In the meantime, I'll enjoy listening while living in the material world..
I love my relaxing times in the garden on the bench before the fire. As the chickens scratch about next to me and the dog snores. Listening and singing along with you lady :) right now it's warm but the rain is drumming on the shelter roof :) bliss courgettes from the garden once I light the fire thank you for your accompaniment Andy
I would love to see/hear a collaboration with folk/Celtic Bouzouki player, Frances Cunningham. You two would be brilliant. Just as surely as you shine on your own.
Oh my goodness I’m have a glad I found you, first 20 seconds I have tears in my eyes/what you convey is something that is just wonderful I hope I haven’t said too many good things but I can’t help myself
Amazing! Are you using a different tuning? Trying to learn this tune on mandolin but can't figure out how you do it... Thank you for this song, it went straight to my heart!

Every time I come back to this version I am always shocked by how good it is
It is something else, how she plays is captivating. Hard to beat

I listened to this on the west coast of Clare at the weekend. Just incredible

What a wonderful thing to say 😊. I agree. This music 🎵🎶 is sacred 🕊️🌙🙏
Perfect comment and agreed!
Fully agreed, I listened a lot of modern performing of traditional music, very little if no one at all can be compared to this.
I feel the same about Planxty, having grown up listening to them. This must be a difficult song to tackle but this version is superb.
Yeh..like I say Planxty...we can only follow...love your stuff ❤

Her delicate beauty, her ethereal voice, her musicality, all blend to make a perfect piece of art. Im sure Andy himself would be charmed by this.
