Okay the adapter works but only with the Switch power plug. Once the plug is disconnected from the USB Hub, the Switch will no longer detect the hub itself even if the power plug is plugged back into the hub. The best solution is to make sure everything is plugged into the hub before plugging the USB-C plug into the Switches port. This is actually a great adapter. If you go out and buy a separate OEM Nintendo power plug, you can always have a spare to use with this device at all times. Seems like a very good adapter. Good video 👍👍
"not that great" you can't blame the hub lol. The switch charger has two modes it powers the switch under. Undocked mode and docked mode. When the switch is docked, the charger knows this and sends EXTRA power to the switch, so the switch can run the CPU and GPU at the higher clock rates that docked mode accords it. The dongle you bought has NOTHING to do with it. So, no, "not that great" is actually a pointless statement lol. It's ACTUALLY freaking amazing. It's a third of the price of a switch dock and works exactly like a switch dock, minus the extra USB port. The other two chargers you used are "not that great"....besides the lack of technical knowledge, good video!
I dont recall he even mentioned the power output of each cable. Or if the other cables where switching mode cables. Id like to see if you could run this off PoE. lol
You can get cheaper charging cables that will work it is not only Nintendo Chargers that will work I know this because I have one and it 100% works I would tell you the name of it but right now I'm using a Nintendo switch charging cable because I can't find it I think I left it at a hotel along with the set of Samsung earbuds 😭 but it has to be like a certain one look it up on Amazon as long as it says Chargers Nintendo switch it will work
I really want to know if you have any problems with this, and does it run on 1080p 60fps, this normal dock is really overpriced so this could be a great alternative but im just wondering if you had any problems with it.
I haven't had an problems with it but I have stopped using it due to reports of third party docks bricking Switches. I ended up buying a second official dock, took it apart and put it in a smaller 3D printed enclosure instead.
I believe you gotta plug the charger in before you plug the dongle to the switch and from what i have heard /read you must use the charger that comes with the switch for it to work. Edit: plug the charger to the dongle then the dongle to the switch
My switch no longer outputs to tv for some reason. all the chords work and the dock does charge my switch so I think the problem is internals of actual switch not the dock. does anyone know is a USB C to HDMI might fix the issue? I tried the USB C to HDMI as an alternative fix, it charges the switch but still no output to the T.V. I think this narrows down to being anise with either the HDMI or The TV. IM still unsure because I tried the HDMI with my laptop to the TV and it worked fine : (
Is there an option to keep the switch on while docked? so if we run this cable, we can play through the switch if I'm running the HDMI to a Video Capture card and dont want to run off a TV?
Use tronsmart charger with female type c and put type c to type c cable and problem solved. Because i think only type c to type c cable can be power delivery.
Can this work with the Switch lite because I'M too cheap to buy a real switch.... Seriously though, anyone got this working with Chromecast and managed to get it to read usb drives? Which power adapter did you use?
Wonk i'll probably just stick to using the official dock then. Hopefully nintendo will bring out official variations at some point that wont mess up the system
You can check out my video on 3D printed Switch Docks, basically you can take an original Dock pull out its internals and put it into a smaller more portable 3D printed housing. That's what I've been using when taking the Switch to a friends place, works great!
I got this from eBay, but you can probably get a better quality one now, this one isn't super reliable, it can take multiple tries before it actually connects.
Hey Wonk thanks for the video i got one of these in November an tried to use it many time's with no success even contacted the seller an ripped them a new one cause it did not when i saw that yours worked i tried again an it worked thought i was stuck with an expensive type C OTG cable as you said just had to keep trying putting the cables in different order. But i heard a lot about these cheap docks causing harm to the switch even bricking them seeing as you have been using yours for a some time Have you any negative effects on your switch ?
Honestly I haven't used it too often, mainly because I haven't had the chance to take the Switch out much. I've used it maybe less than 10 times and my Switch is still fine *touch wood*. I would try to avoid using it after hearing the reports of bricked Switches.
The whole bricking the switch thing is only a problem when you use a third party dock AND a third party charger. It's all in the power delivery.....as long as you're using the stock charger, or a Nintendo certified 3rd party charger, you'll have no worries about bricking the switch. All the dock does is pass through the full 15v.....nothing more, nothing less.
Srry for my bad english ^^ I have same adapter ..but i dont have Orginal Nintendo charger ..have only USB Cable ^^ charge all time with my PC my Switch. can i not use the hdmi adapter with usb cable charge on pc ? :) can you test it pls for me .. or i must buy 100 % switch irginal charger thanks
+Develop4youHD Short answer: no, it won't work. Long answer: after some research I found that you don't need the original Nintendo Switch charger what you need is a USB-C power delivery compliant charger that outputs 15V 2.6A and most phone and laptop chargers are not at 15V which is why they don't work. Hope this helps =)
I noticed this converter has a USB slot. Would this possibly be the means to use a 8bitdo Bluetooth adapter to use other controllers? It's basically a flash drive, so it should fit. Just not sure if it would carry over to the console rather than the converter box.
That's a hard NO lol. The dock has NOTHING to do with whether or not the switch outputs to a screen. It's all internal, in the switch. The switch detects proper power, and video out, then clocks up for tv output. The switch Lite doesn't have that capability at all, regardless of what you try to use.
the reason the bricks happened was cause the third party docks used a different usb protocol that wasn't suppose to be used so in the 6.1.0 update it patched it so now most docks were fixed and now use a different protocol

No, the Switch Lite actually lacks the hardware for video output internally. It’s strictly handheld
Does this adapter still work after the 5.0 update though? 🤔
Just tested it on my Switch again running 5.1.0 and it still works.
