I just clicked on the video, and I got inspired so much and scribed, after 31 years of working in five different big companies and loved what I achieved. Now I am 48 years and got out the corporations, made them a lot of Millions of dollars. and I learned very few things for them. So now I am thinking and planning to be my employer. So I plan to start my business at the beginning of 2022. I will be traveling around the world for the next 12 months, starting December 01, 2020, to find ideas and learning more about what I need to do. Thanks for this video and for sharing your love with all of us. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👌
Not my area of expertise, but I feel like there isn't a shortage of good (and novel) ideas. However, there is a shortage of people who have the knowledge and/or capital to prototype a product and get something into peoples hands. I also think that it is less about the idea and the willingness of the founder to pivot to what the market demands not what they personally find valuable. Would love your thoughts on these two aspects Garry! Love the channel and this video. Comment is not meant to sound dissenting, hoping to just start a dialogue!
Not so true when comes to potentially billion dollar ideas. When you go up in moneyland, there is absolutely no shortage of people with capital, expertise and talent. However a billion dollar idea is a rarity and quality ideas only come once in awhile. If youre simply talking about the average everyday startups, then yeah ideas are not that important compared to other aspects of a business
@@michaelquecera3971 Totally fair. I am definitely coming at this from my own personal experience/ perspective haha. I have absolutely no experience with the process of building Unicorns

I believe you can't become a millionaire by depending on people paying you monthly to become a millionaire but by investing. I'm saying thisbecause of what I have gone through in life and my current life situation .. Becoming rich depends on your determination and hard work.
While I believe there is definitely an X factor involved in building a billion-dollar startup; I think having a vision and a passion to bring the vision to reality is the foundation. Vision allows you to see the whole picture. Passion keeps you going in spite of challenges. Yet another masterclass from Garry. Thanks.
Loved how you talked about the importance of the diversity of lived experiences in solving new problems. Is it possible for you to create a video about the importance of diversity and give advice to / empower people of underrepresented backgrounds?
In that essay, PG also mentions that the best ideas tend to be organic. This means that they naturally pop into the mind of the founder. Usually it's something they need but there is no existing solution yet. The more interviews I watch with founders, the more I see this. It doesn't have to be a native need. It can be a need of a business owner that you interviewed. Doordash started this way. In the essay, it's also written that there is a way to generate ideas by brainstorming. These tend to be bad ideas because they don't usually stem from needs. It's still a good way to dive deep into your past and identify moments you needed something but there was no solution for it.
It depends on what you want... if it’s making money on the short term, I think they’ll probably be equally successful at it. If it’s impact on the society, especially on the long term, then definitely the excellent idea with avg execution
Excellent idea with average execution = Twitter Mediocre idea with excellent execution = bootstrapped profitable business (note: THIS IS STILL AN AMAZING OUTCOME)
I have a startup idea that I believe will save our environment and resources. But I have been told I shouldn't pursue the idea because don't have an engineering/product background (I am UI/brand designer). I also ran into tons of questions while I was thinking through the product, and it really diminishes my passion for this idea. It is a hard problem. I have been questioning if I am qualified to even try. This video gives me hope again. Thank you so much for such an inspiring video!

Hey Garry. I'm 19 years old from a Pakistani village close to Afghanistan's border. I've been watching your videos since the age of 15. I've come up with an excellent idea that's better, cheaper, faster than its competition. It provides customers with a more convenient and hyper personalized experience. Want your feedback on the idea
Well said but can you explain this? Amazon unique at that time and succeed --> 2 employees in Amazon started "Flipkart" same as Amazon and worth 3 employees in Flipkart started "Udaan" same as Amazon & Flipkart and worth 3.5B.
If you're thinking of what startup to start, you missed the point. It's not about which should I do? It should be whats missing in this world? Or how can I change lives in a new way. Yes, reinvent the wheel to stand out. Cmon you can do it. Start today.
Idea and product is half of the puzzle. The other key is figuring out your distribution. Especially with the competition now, it's very hard to capture people's attention.

But passionate people never give up, they make it possible.
Saved! Will come back and watch this when I face too many rejections and brick wall hits while trying to advance

Coming up with ideas is good but coming up with problem solving ideas which are better faster & cheaper is the goal.
