I just googled the difference between plaid and tarten cause I was curious. The bare bones of it is: all tartens are plaid but not all plaids are tarten, because a tarten is associated with a specific clan.

In the area I live layers are your friend in both autumn and spring. From morning to evening there can be a 50°F 10°C difference.
