I am surprised the porygon line wasn't mentioned. It's shiny is a reference to the inverted colors of photo negatives. Being Polygons, an early form of computer animation, it makes sense. The invert colors option used to be an editing filter on MS Paint as well.
I just realized the Treasures of Ruin switch colors with eachother for their shinies: Wo-Chien gets Chi-Yu's red, Ting-Lu gets Wo-Chien's green, Chien-Pao gets Ting-Lu's brown, and Chi-Yu gets Chien-Pao's light blue.
Ting-lu's colors a based on red sandstone cliffs, made from layers of sand and clay. The shiny is based on the much rarer blue sandstone, which is layered sand and a different sediment, not sure what it is, but the blue-grey colors and layers are spot on for the shiny colors of Ting-lu
I just began to think that the ashy grayish green is actually sandstone before the iron minerals inside rust into the red color we know after being exposed to air. Doesn't explain the deep green sections as much, but it makes sense to me when you consider the Treasures' creation being in the far distant past.
Klawf being blue probably has more to do with blue crabs than blue lobsters, like the Chesapeake Blue Crab. It's not a rare species by any stretch, but there are fewer blue crab species than red ones. I think another possibility for Mimikyu's shiny is the association between black-and-white film and horror movies, being that it's a Ghost type. I still think the nod to Red and Blue is possible, and that it's shiny could have multiple inspirations.
All the shinies in the first few generations just shifted each pokemon's color palette by one. None of them were custom designed to look like anything special. Anything they might resemble is just coincidence.

Black Panthers don't just have to be Leopards. Any member of the Panthera class of cats ( Leopards, Lions, Tigers, Snow Leopards, and Jaguars) can be a Black Panther.
well, no. It's just for Leopards and Jaguars. Lions don't come in black (all the ones you see on google are photoshop jobs, melanistic lions have never been recorded), neither do tigers, tho they come close with just, heavy, thick striping, but no all black ones. We've never seen or recorded a melanistic snow leopard either. "black panther" is just a term for melanistic leopards and jaguars.
@@SpiderRiderKya The vast majority (if not all) of animals can be melanistic, We just don't always see examples of it in many animals because it is not always a beneficial mutation to have ( similar to albinoism {a lack of pigmintation}, although to a much lesser degree) and can lead to an animal being outcompeted by those without the mutation or just killed off early in life before we ever really get a chance to observe and make record of it. For both lions and snow leopards, the trait would be fairly detrmental (more so for snow leopards). The original design was based on Kokopelli, a Native American trickster deity representing fertility and music. Its earliest design was basically just a living version of the common symbol associated with the figure, being all black and having the flute as a mouth. The next version was designed to distance itself a bit more, probably out of respect for the culture of people who still practice their ancestral beliefs. The modern design is a bit tricky and probably had multiple steps between it and the second design. Skeledirge in general has so many similarities with that story, from the aforementioned gator-and-bird friendship to being Ghost-Type; the alligator and its bird friend both die in the end; to being weak to Water, which played a huge part in the alligator's death.
I hate when people try to put meaning behind shinies from before they actually designed shinies. It’s literally just a code that reverses the color id numbers, hence why pokemon with similar colors have similar color shinies like pinks going to blues and blues going to pinks.

I have a very interesting theory about Ting-Lu specifically. Just like the others referencing aspects of themselves in a new way- Chien-Pao being a different predatory cat, Wo-Chien gaining an autumnal red on some leaves, and Chi-Yu representing a higher-energy blue flame. My belief is that Ting-Lu has a shiny that may represent its original ancient body. Sandstone has a red hue on layers or in general because of the iron minerals within that layer oxidizing and rusting. If you were to unearth unoxidized sandstone, it would actually be a greenish-gray sort of color, which is exactly the hues present on most of Ting-Lu's body. (with the bright green maybe even referencing lichen growth?) This would be more poetic if the shiny had also undone the green patina on the vessel and shown the original metal (likely copper or bronze), which is also an oxidizing reaction.
I’m pretty sure the ting-lu shiny has copper deposits on the parts that change. New copper is that brassy brown whereas copper with patina is that greenish color.
Personally Ting Lu reminds me of Troika pottery, both in its standard and shiny forms. I have no idea how it’d relate to it’s lore and design, I just think it’s a cool thing to point out
I think ting lu is oxidized copper. OR it could represent the rust covering the earth at one time period in the original coloring and green of the earth now.

There’s actually a much more interesting reason for shiny koraidon looking the way it does. If every paradox Pokemon in scarlet shares the same or similar colors to the shiny version of their “descendant,” why does koraidon turn black? This is a reference to the INVERTED colors of cyclizar’s shiny! If you invert the colors of shiny koraidon and cyclizar, you’ll find they essentially trade colors. This could be because they wanted to make koraidon and miraidon stand out and have you question their status as true paradox forms. Also miraidon isn’t white, it’s silver…….

I got a theory for tinglus shiny my theory is that part of his body is made from copper and when copper gets weathirized it turns into the same color as tinglus shiny
actually, ninetails' shiny comes from silver, which it was exclusive to. this can be proven by looking at arcanine, who was exclusive to gold, and is a gold color.
In regards to the Golden Color of Magikarp, I BELIEVE its Japanese(???) culture, but a golden carp is considered a sign of power, wealth, intelligence, success and a gateway to eternal life.
I would love for gamefreak to make some games featuring only shiny Pokémon. So everyone can easily catch a shiny version of every Pokémon, making all the effort shiny hunters put into getting rare worthless digital files pointless. That would be so funny to me.
