I laugh when people complain about John Mayer's singing. He's a guitar player who taught himself how to sing exactly well enough to sell a record. That's what you're paying for at a concert- not a songwriter/singer, a songwriter/guitar player. And a damn good one at that.
What I love about John is that he is as organic as you can get. Real ! ! ! No auto tune. He's not a machine he's a real person and real people are not perfect everytime. They grow, change, and evolve. The difference is he is sharing with us.......look at yourself. What were you into 5 years ago? What are you into now? .....Keep growing John. Real fans will grow with you.
Good solo, but I like the "Where The Light Is One Better". Not only is it longer, John does a great job of building up to the climax. It had a Santana feel to it.
Philip Callado am i the only one who does not like the live in la versions? It sounds too clean for a guitar solo for me. I prefer raw and gritty solos by john like this one.
@@ronjhayespeleta4164 This one doesn't really sound gritty to me, it sounds like he just put in 5 licks cause he had no time to actually express himself.
they played for 2 hours last night... from what i can remember JM played. "No Such Thing" "Bigger Than My Body" "Waiting on the World to Change" "Daughters" "Friends, Lovers, or Nothing" "Why Georgia" "Half Of My Heart" "Who Says" "Gravity" "Free Fallin" in no order.. thats all i can remember for now. ha
@TheMarkHoppus182 its like an organ simulator pedal, he talks about it in one of his videos about recording i'm pretty sure someone made i for him i mean.. he literally has boxes of pedals hahah
A lot of it has to do with that WTLI (Which is what I'm assuming you are basing this comment on) is a completely mixed/remastered/studio edited show, whereas this show is completely live soundwise. That being said, his voice is sounding a bit subpar, but I'm sure he'll bring it back around. It's been a while since he's been on the road. He sounded great on all the shows I've seen him play.
@MuneebAtherMusic Oh. yeah i know id love one but theyre gunna be damn expensive. i meant that he was playing the black one. he seems to play it less and less
His vocals seem a tad shakier than usual, but I'm sure that it's just a bad day. I will also say that it is astounding to see how much more mature his guitar-playing sounds compared even from as early as Where the Light Is.
Must have been his in ear microphone. Check out 2:08 hes giving eye contact to the sound engineer. The moment you go falsetto you have trouble figuring out if you´re on the right track when you dont have monitoring...hence, i dont think hes in a bad form (hes singing the chest voice pretty good), yet he surely got drunk the night before. Peace and love
both john and david ryan harris seem to sing out of tune in this. that's pretty unusual so i'm thinking there was maybe a problem with their feedback and they couldn't hear themselves properly...?
@20000564 Absolutely everyone thinks like that. And it's true. The Background singer are annoying, the horns were great. The song's not the same without the horns...

Who can complain!?!?
@@pointedspider So many you can't imagine
definetely a genius.. cant wait to see him in pheonix .. JM rocks

I like all the songs at this concert...especially "Perfectly Loney"....he is one the musician will remember for generations....
Best version o this song i´ve heard...Flawless.
OMG, love his dancing.
hes a perfectionist.. he missed a fret for just a sec and he was pissed..
Good news everyone! The backup singers are out, and the horns are back in! THANK GOODNESS!!!
guitar maestro

Amen. Another Trio album is all I'd need.
Hopefully the money he makes from this pop album will go towards funding another JM3 project.
Awesum playin' like always :D
musical genius
❤
Come to Spain please
@TheMarkHoppus182 Its a Roger Linn Adrenalinn III on the envelope filter setting i believe. Expensive pedal but sounds great.
John, please hire me. I´d kill to be in your band. I´ll even play tambourine if needed.
It´s definitely a better solo than on WTLI.
You said it:)
If you like this, you should definitely check out From Where The Light is version, if you already haven't.
@k2snake where the light is has the best version of every song.....
@MarcusTheMadLad No , the POG is used in the song in repair, like an organ
@TheMarkHoppus182 its like an organ simulator pedal, he talks about it in one of his videos about recording i'm pretty sure someone made i for him i mean.. he literally has boxes of pedals hahah
@Vectormediareactor
The POG isn't only used for the sound of an organ.
@JamesCornelisonMusic
It's a called a POG.
"How wrong you were about me..." (L)
Sweeeeet :D

And he said ,” David Ryan Harris”.
@FreaquedeMusique thats true
the black one is out!
Does anyone else see the resemblances in the guitar part that starts at 5:40-somethings, till 6:40 with the solo from Belief?
He's got his black one out! Good lad!
@MuneebAtherMusic Oh. yeah i know id love one but theyre gunna be damn expensive. i meant that he was playing the black one. he seems to play it less and less
You are singning of key dude. Where the Light is version keeps being the pinacle of mayer's career.
@TheDVDGamer You have to check his concert at Webster Hall, NY. Then maybe you change your opinion :)
does anyone know what kind of pedal is he getting that sound out of?
It sounds like an organ.
I have been trying to decipher what the face at 2:08 means after he says 'when it rains..'
His vocals seem a tad shakier than usual, but I'm sure that it's just a bad day. I will also say that it is astounding to see how much more mature his guitar-playing sounds compared even from as early as Where the Light Is.
me too. looks like something want wrong, but i can't figure out what.
Does anyone have tabs for this end solo?
Must have been his in ear microphone. Check out 2:08 hes giving eye contact to the sound engineer. 2:52 i lold
2020?
he's his own xD He and David Ryan Harris.
classic steve jordan moment at 1:58 :D
your point?
Could be a sign of frustration yea, as TG182 says.
Didn't you hear the guitar mistake?
DAVID RYAN HARRIS MY BOY!
The only person he needs to sing back up for him is Steve Jordan and David Ryan Harris.
next to john mayer, of fucking course :))
ahaha you can say that!
go david ryan =)
the tempo is a bit slower ..
both john and david ryan harris seem to sing out of tune in this. that's pretty unusual so i'm thinking there was maybe a problem with their feedback and they couldn't hear themselves properly...?
@MuneebAtherMusic what? lawl
david ryan harris f'd up his part :SS too bad cause usually he's awesome
Not the best vocal performance that night but still JM great great great.
@20000564 Absolutely everyone thinks like that. And it's true. The Background singer are annoying, the horns were great. The song's not the same without the horns...
He is always fluent at playing but seems that sometimes struggles at singing.
Tube Screamer probably
Lose the Synths and bring the horn section!!
i dont have a point .. im just stating a fact
Envelope Filters. RUclips them
am i the only one who's not hearing that crappy out of tuned singing?
I don't care for the ladies singing in the back. Leave the back up vocals to the great David Ryan Harris.
how wrong you were about me...how wrong you are
yeah, he was off on this. nevermind. I never really liked this song anyway. do in repair
2:53 No one realized that David Ryan Harris fucked up with his falsetto?
he had the flu
I disagree.
Let's all hope this is the last time John hires black female back up singers.
hated his vocals in this song!
