I like the way you mounted this. I just got a 403, which mounted version do you prefer? This version,or the other which was off to the side of the rudder.
Thanks for the feedback, my preferred layout would be this one where the motor is in line with the rudder blade, it's worth noting that the rudder mounting bracket and blade both need to be strong to handle the torque which can be significant at higher speeds especially during turns - hope that helps and happy motoring :-)
Thank you.. I'm going to try some 6.35mm starboard as a rudder first. Hopefully the mount that came with the reload is strong enough. Too bad I can't send a picture of version 1
@@davidcortez5614 no problem, the new Reload mounts are plastic, the original ones were stainless steel and better suited to handling the torque of the bigger motors, you can always see how your trials go and make up a stainless bracket if needed, feel free to send pics to our email address darrenskayaks@gmail.com and good luck with it :-)
Hi there I love you this setup how's it holdling up basically you just use the clamps that came with the pylon and screwed it to the bigsby rudder is that what you used? Thank you for any information you can provide have a great day
Hi there, glad you like the set up - yes the Torqeedo pylon is attached to the back of the rudder blade using two Torqeedo clamps - it will only work with a pivot style rudder blade and you will need an extension arm as you can see to increase the leverage so the rudder can be retracted with the extra weight of the motor - you will also notice I have a metal rudder bracket on the kayak so the mounting is strong to resist the twisting effect of the motor under power during turns - hope this helps :-)
