Please make a new video, please! It seems like you actually have a fix, but I can not make any sense of what you are saying or doing - many of us have the same problem! Upload a new video and be more specific in what you saying, and also, be more clear with the filming of what you doing. FYI! Just insert iPhone EarPods (or any headphones with Mic) into iRig's Output before connecting iRig to Mac's Input. Then connect Amp instead of EarPords.
It doesn't work. My external mics are still not recognized. I even have an IRIG (its an apple product made for this purpose) and it is not being recognized by the computer when plugged into the headphone jack. If I try to "trick" it by plugging in the iPhone headphones first, the computer switches to external mic and the external microphone IS collecting the sound (when I talk, the sound is picked up by the mic and I hear it in the headphones.) HOWEVER... the computer does not register any sound levels and none of the recording programs will record the sound (from the condesor mic hooked up to the irig). Does anyone know what to do?

It works! But you can simply say that, plug in earphones that aren't Apples, then plug in the iRig to Mac
