  • I think it's important to remind students and those who want to break into the music scene, that the best music agent could be the very person they're learning from.
I'm keen to hear of your own careers and what part your teacher played in getting into the music scene. Leave your comments below.
Anyway, greetings from this beautiful village in the south of France called Sarlat.

I just happen to know a guy.
Killer teacher who very quickly became an invaluable friend.
On top of them teaching me a better way to practice, helping me get rid of many bad habits in my technique and basically relaying the foundation of my playing. They threw in some sage words that not only changed everything about my attitude, approach and playing but also set me on a quite fast tracked path to having me phone ring with offers for work.
    "Work hard and be humble."
"Pay it the due diligence it deserves."
    &
"When you play a gig with a new band, you're audition for multiple potential future employers."

I studied with the late John Moring and I remember he passed on a few gigs my way so this video really rings true for me. Great advice and insight for younger students.

Virgil was no doubt aware of your impressive skills and musicality, not just your great attitude. What gig did u sit in on for Virgil, doing hey hey before you got the chair? I heard Virgil did a lot of the johnny young backing tracks too in the day.

Annoyingly , im a bit nervous ☺️ and more than a bit shy in my lesson. I really enjoy my lessons but sometimes feel a bit deflated. Im learning drums to fulfil a lifetime dream, to play in a band one day and to give me confidence in myself . Id love to meet other drummers but im not sure its my teacher's thing. Maybe i need a different teacher? Advice? Thoughts?
