I don't think current models are sentient, but the way of thinking "they are digital, so it's totally OK to torture them" is utterly insane and evil.
As much as i like the idea of proper "living" NPCs in games, this video does not really do a good job showing the prospects of such idea. Idk, maybe it's one of those rare things that are hard to advertise, but when you experience them yourself, they are fantastic.
This video has convinced me that this game is heavily scripted, you told them they were in a simulation and then killed one of them and then suddenly they are talking about making a game trailer and then talking about escaping, I'm pretty sure if someone just witnessed murder their first thought wouldn't be to make a game trailer let alone asking the murderer to make it for them
I agree it really does seem like its kinda scripted, and if it isnt scripted it really seems like a bad AI, if someone kissed me and then shot the person standing next to me, I would not argue about game trailers, I would run and hide or shoot back... And I wouldnt try to befriend a murderer... What the hell is going on in Mareks head, all he had to do was make NPCs in space engineers with a state machine like we have used in the last 30 years or so in game "AI"...
FYI for anyone for whom might not find it obvious; It's not actual AI. It's just predictive text generators generating responses according to pre-programmed instructions... This trailer makes the game look pretty abysmal imo, but maybe that's the point. It looks like it's supposed to be super corny and not meant to be taken seriously.
@@ovojdude this stuff responds only if you ask it to, it doesnt do anything out of its own initiative so drop the act.😂 The sentient ai is not gonna come in the form of a god damn language model
I am hoping this “game” is more a testing grounds for the Ai. No I don’t think it’s going to make its way into Space Engineers, though I do hope a true successor to that game comes about with Ai. However I can’t imagine anyone who likes space engineers is excited about a…. Farming game? Or whatever this product actually becomes
In Alpha stage yes. We will have 10 USD subscription per month. The reason for this is that It reflects the substantial computing power required to create truly dynamic AI-driven experiences connected to LLM.
Very cool! I am beyond curious about the technical side of things, finally seeing LLMs being incorporated into games while being able to interact with the environment makes me hopeful about the future of gaming, so many possibilities.
Technically yes. In early stages of Alpha you will be limited to only to those limits of the environment. But you as a player will have the option to setup whatever scenario you would like to play, with any characters you can imagine. Be it Sherlock Holmes, your favourite singer or a politician. And you will see, if they would react to you, listen to your commands, or will decide to simply say no.
It's scripted. Just not the way you think. The Ai is a learning model...thus you can teach them this behaviour, even if not directly. Ai cannot be sentient or think for itself, atleast not yet. Quantum computers would probably be able to run sentient Ai, however we don't have those yet. So this is basically just an advanced language model with some stuff and made into a game.
Interesting suggestions. Honestly, it would be really nice to have first person experience of AI People. We will pass it further to our devs for possible future consideration :)
Perfect! We are glad, that our trailer caught your interest. We would like to remind, that this version is still Alpha with limited set of environments and characters, but that will be definitely expanded and developed further. In any case, don't forget to be on the Waiting list waitinglist.aipeoplegame.com because on 19th September only those on waiting list will be approved to try the game.
For those of you confused or new to the concept this was made using an LLM Model, or Large Language Model. You can google it and see if yourself what they are. Google, Alexa, Ciri etc. are all LLM Models. There are literally thousands of them now and they are rapidly advancing. They pull from recent data from the internet like wiki and other popular websites and use it as its "brain". So what you see is very clever programming but it can also be seen as the beginning of sentient AI, but it isn't quite it yet.
How about improving Space Engineers without milking the player base instead of working on something that nobody asked for? This scripted showcase is supposed to show what, exactly?.
The only part, that was scripted was the initial setting of each cutscene. But only to give them scenario and a personal bio of each character. Each time we were recording those scenes, we received a slightly different reactions from NPCs on the same prepared scenario
I can assure you, that only thing that was scripted here was the scenario setting for each scene. We've set their goals and personality and what we would like to do and the rest was simply up to them. You can imagine the recording process, when the scenario was going well and suddenly one of the agents decided to do something else or even changed the subject.
Bro all we wanted was NPCs in Space Engineers, not to watch Marek lose his mind in real time.
This video has convinced me that I don't want to give this game a try and thus run the risk that it's AI may get out of the simulation.
I do, besides ai is just an immensely layered algorithm.
@@peaceanquiet4528 Are you sure? Where do you get any proof for this claim 😅

Now to add this to space engineers...
I am not willing to add them to Space Engineers until I seriously upgraded my base defenses.
This is how the machines up rising will happen take notice ai self awareness.
Add some NPC to Space Engineers, so they can help you build/grind/mine
Thank you for your suggestion and we will try to pass that to our sister company representatives at Keen Software House :)
Before I let them in I feel the urge to upgrade internal security.
There are many, many, things I could say about this trailer and the game as a whole. Instead, I shall simply say this:
bruh 💀

Possible options for using a local LLM/OpenAI compatible API of choice via url?
Looks amazing! We need it now! Keep up the good work! and please don't put on silly filters. Let players be free.
How would the Ai think more players = good unless they knew it was an always-online live service? Not interested in Online Single player
