HRC55 | Independent UN Expert Alleges Israeli Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza

- On 26 March 2024 during the 55th session of the Geneva-based Human Rights Council, Francesca Albanese, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, presented a report entitled "Anatomy of a Genocide".
By analyzing the patterns of violence and Israel’s policies in its onslaught on Gaza, Ms. Albanese concludes that "there are reasonable grounds to believe that the threshold indicating Israel’s commission of genocide is met."
Special Rapporteurs are appointed by the Human Rights Council and serve in their individual capacity, independent of the UN system and national governments. They are not UN staff and draw no salary.

Even were modern Israelis descended from these original people, they would have no more right to come back and claim the land after leaving it for nearly 2,000 years than the Romans. They won't even admit Palestinians driven out during the Nakba, or even the '67 War, have any right to return to their legally-owned property, yet claim they have the right to commit ethnic cleansing and genocide to take back Israel because it's rightfully theirs!

Because of due process and rule of law. A conclusive judgment of violating the genocide convention can only be determined by an appropriate court. In this case the ICJ and ICC. They will undoubtedly consider her report as evidence. There are parallel proceedings in the 9th Circuit against the President for complicity in genocide, brought by the centre for constitutional rights.
