- DO YOU WANT TO CATCH MORE FISH?! Start by watching this informational pier fishing video! Let us help teach you a few simples ways to increase your odds of catching fish and landing new species when you head out to the pier for a fishing adventure. My good friend Chris and I head out to the Huntington Beach Pier in beautiful Orange County, Southern California. We are fishing on the West Coast of The United States of America in the Pacific Ocean. Saltwater fishing can be tough at times... In this video you will find a lot of different fishing rigs and tips that you can use when fishing at the pier. We offer a lot of tips and tricks through out the video. You will also learn how to use crab traps/hoop nets and the best baits to use. We catch a lot of different species through out the day and do our best to show everyone what we are using to catch these fish. We catch a leopard shark, pacific mackerel, spanish mackerel, jacksmelt, thornback skate, sting rays, spider crabs, sea snails, sand dollars, mystery crabs and other mystery fish. It's all about the people!!!
This is the first video I seen for your channel and I love it. Even my man paused his game to see the amazing catches you guys caught! Seeing your enthusiasm as you guys fish no wonder they were biting! ❤❤❤
Awesome video! Really cool how you guys set up two shark rigs. Ever try getting underwater footage with the crab net because it's pretty cool down there.
I had no idea what that weight was used for. Your are very informative!!! Thanks!! Keep up the amazing work!!!
That’s my goal! Lol I like teaching everyone. When I first showed up at the ocean to fish, I knew NOTHING 🤣
Wow... That's epic !!! Chris !!!
CHRIS!!!
Right on. You made those kids day
The claws on the first crabs look so dope
This is exactly what I needed for them threshers!! Thank you

Yep! I will do a catch clean cook next time!!!
@@theperchjerker the “parasites “ on them are larval barnacles...people get freaked out by them
Scratch the shell with a knife before and after cooking for the best results
Nice catch Chris 🎣🎣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Glad you enjoyed
You are so fun with the narration
Thanks David 🤣🤙🏼
(Davida)😁
RIGHT ON FOO ! SEE YOU SATURDAY !
Yessir! May 15th 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Its a Pacific rock crab. It is legal at 4 inches across the back. But you have to have a crab guage in your possession during your crabbing adventure.
Dude, your videos are great.
That was awesome shark 🦈 great job.
Thanks!!
I might be going to HB the following weekend
Dope!!!
Awesome video man I saw you that day!! Hahaha the mackerel are definitely biting right now
That’s dope! Lol
Love the enthusiasm! Lol
Thanks!
Dude nice!! I might go on the weekend
Do it!!! GL!!!
@@theperchjerker yes catch me some macks and croaker🐟🐟 maybe shark too🦈🦈
Fish ( Shark ) TACOS !!! So good
That's a rock crab and they have to be at least 4 inches wide on the shell to keep them. If you catch a spider crab, put them back if you're not prepared to spend at least 15 minutes to clean the crud off them.
Yes i catch and cleaned one man took me like 30 min or more scrubbing the mud seaweed critters from all over his back, legs all over and it didnt even have alot of meat since it mostly hard shell i do not recommend maybe just once to try it
Thanks for this info 🤣
@@theperchjerker If you ever make that video I would highly suggest using a scrapper spatula like you would use to remove old paint and a wire brush. Spider crabs are extremely sensitive and die easily. I keep mine alive with a portable aerator in a bucket of ocean water. I switch to a plugin aerator at home to keep them alive until I'm ready to clean them for cooking. They do not like tap water. Boil them in a pot big enough to completely submerge them at 12 minutes per kg/2.2 lbs. Their shells are so thick that you will damage your teeth if you don't use crackers or pliers.
Calico bass baby
You guys are awesome sick videos
They see me rollin, they hatin lol had me laughing.
The crabs with black tipped claws are rock crabs. Purple ones are dungeness crabs
20:48 Chris just tackles that shark lmao
Hahaha no shark is safe from Chris 🤣
So on the rig for thresher what is that spring called for attaching the parashoot flote? Also any recommendations on where to find a decent size weighted gaff treb?
Non return swivel for a thresher shark float rig. I've seen people call it a trolley rig too but I'm not sure if that's the same thing
Those little crabs with the purple legs and smooth topped white tipped claws were "slender crabs" , a cousin of the dungeness. The spider crabs are sheeps head crabs.
THANKS! Lol I want to learn them all.
@@theperchjerker I am still learning but my computer knows them all.
Sick video!
Thanks!!!
@@theperchjerker I've tried so many times to catch a leopard shark but no dice for me. Congrats on an awesome catch! Keep it up with the sick videos! I stopped watching other videos on fishing cuz they don't have the same substance. Yours I like. Gonna get me some perch merchandise very soon. Diggin on your gear. 👍
@@bruceyfishswakavitch7028 That so cool! Lol thanks 💪🏼✌🏼🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

I will do one soon! I promise lol
How did you make the rod holder?
15:09 it’s a calico bass u catch 20inch at Catalina
That little fish looked like a juvenile kelp bass.
Your at Huntington Beach I go to that one every weekend
That was an Olive Rockfish, aka Johnny Bass
Cool 😎
😎🤙🏼
Do you need anything extra added to your fishing license to catch crabs?
Not on piers in California, don't really need a license either. We just gotta follow the rules on breeding seasons.
Genius!
For the thresher
100#
What kind of rods and gear do you use for pier fishing and shark fishing. You should make an educational video on that if you will😅
I have a couple, but I can do more.
O hell yeah
You know it!
That’s a red rock crab 🦀 we catch all round the SF area along with huge dungeness
Brown rock crab, minimum 4", unless you are in Humboldt Bay, no size limit! Go Humboldt... btw, nice leopard shark!
its actually a red rock crab
Thanks buddy
I keep catching those large mouth bass looking things too. I have no clue what they are
I think they might be tiny kelp bass, but i keep pulling those up too
Copper fish? 🤷🏼♂️
Um calico bass spoted sand bass
🤔
bro whats the name of the spring you are using to atach the bait to the line
Non return slider
Those spider crabs are great eating! Why’d you throw them back?!
I knew these comments would come 🤣 I didn’t want to spend a half hour cleaning hyphen this day. Lol I will cook one though! Don’t worry!
I live in Santa Monica hoping I’ll see you at the Peir your at rn
Hey.... so Seal beach vs Huntington beach pier.... Which would product more caughtes in your oppnions. thank you.
They are both excellent piers! But I might like seal beach more because of the layout!
@@theperchjerker Thank you. I will try to caught those lovely spider crab. for spider crab, which pier would you fish for them and what kind of bait. any thought onn Newport beach pier ? Again thank you.
I swear my manz goes fishing everyday 😭
Don't blame em that shits addicting
I love fishing!!! Lol
We’re do you buy the net for shark
NICE! I was wondering what type of line that black leader is at 2:07
Can you use live bait with the sinker
How is that gopro attached to your shirt?
Strap underneath the shirt... Hole in the shirt. Lol im iron man.
That's a red rock crab I believe.
Rock crab
Red rock crab
When will you be out here again
What are those coil line connected are?
What bait do you use for leopard sharks?
Mackerel works great!
Yo perch. what is the rating on the proteus you are using? I recently got the non winn wrap proteus and its a sick rod.
30-60 Im prettty sure!
Perchjerker where are you buying your top water thresher assembly ? My connect in San Diego ocean beach pier is MIA. I need more of the gliders.
I make the non returns that we use. I believe that is what you are asking about?
Those are California Horse mackerel. Not Spanish mackerel.
True dat.
Rock
Yo wats up bro I can't wait to hang out with you guys
SOON ENOUGH!!!
Where can i get one of those floats? Do you make them?
Rock rab
Does anyone know where the best fishing for catching multiple bait fish is at currently in So Cal. I’m not searching for large fish , im just looking to catch multiple baitfish and get a lot of bites.
Sabiki rig make sure you have the legal amount of hooks tho
Stone crab 🦀
What line
Spotted black bass
How much lb is the thresher shark mono? And how long?
You could use 60-100 LB and id say 4-6 feet...
On the final leader? 200lb to 300lb
What are those zip line things called ?
non-returns. There are a few other terms for them too.
so did you let the leopard shark go
Not to be “that guy” but uhh those macks dont look legal to me. In Southern California where you are fishing and where ive lived and fished my whole life, all species of mackerel must be 12in total length at a limit of 5 fish per person a day. Just be sure your following regulations on all fish even bait fish like mackerel because fish and game will still give you a ticket, wether you knew this or not and wether your eating or baiting the macks. They dont care ,and its 500$
There’s no size limit on mackerel and almost no catch limit
Dungeness 🦀
What Size Hook did u use
4/O hook and 10/O hook I believe?
@@theperchjerker close, 8/0 circle hook
What time was this
Evening into night time.
14:58 that fish is a baby calico bass
Makes sense. Lol
The first crab was a Pacific Rock Crab
Thanks! I wanted to eat him lol
@@theperchjerker lol
Ay perch jerk what happen to the shark?
Nothing 😎
Cpr - caught, photographed, amd released into my freezer. He will get to swim in the deep fryer soon though.
Yo perch what sliders are you using?
Hi Mark - I make them. Just basic non returns
Is that 6000 spinning reel
Yo perch what's the name of the top peace of the shark rig that's connect to the line? I Wana hit that pier to go shark fishing and the rig would be way better then loosing half my bait trying cast it out there
Non Return
Thank you my man
What is the name of the device you use to attach the bait on this video? Time frame at 1:25.
1:25
A thresher shark float rig. I've seen it called a non return swivel. Very similar to a trolley rig
Leopard sharks are actually pretty good eating they taste a little like pork that's my experience .anybody else leave a comment below
Munkey see minke do
“ive got crabs” in front of women and children 😂
I mean technically.............
Dang
😎🤙🏼
Owww 😂😂😅 that Crab got straight dropped on his face from 50 feet up 😂😂😅🤙 that's mean bro ✌️😜😂 j/k 🎣💯

Did he throw the shark back?
No the meat was given away and the head is bait
Aww that sucks a male like that is vital to our eco system!
Tyler, I got the meat in the freezer :) also, if you are taking one, you should take males and leave the females
I mean i would we cool to release some shark they are not that many left 😧😧🥱🥱
Can you keep those crab 🦀
Spider crabs, yes.
