I’ve been looking for something like this for YEARS! Thank you! I’m an avid crocheter and I’ve been attempting knit for four years off and on. Hoping this was does it!
I have been crocheting since I was a child. I always wanted to learn how to knit but never made it past the casting on and Pearl stitches. I am going to give this a try with Mikey!
OMG!!!! You are an amazing teacher, I have tried several times to learn how to do this in the past and failed miserably. I sat here determined to learn and being you taught me everything I know about crocheting I figured that there was a good chance I could learn from you. I have just did the cast on od 70 stitches and am amazed at how even the stitches are and not dropping any stitches. Thank you for being such an amazing person and an awesome teacher. I couldn't have done this without you.
I love your sweater. I appreciate your knitting efforts. I am a lefty. But I learned knitting by my mother who is a righty. An advantage is that you hold the yarn in your right hand for both crochet and knit.
Just a tip for you as you are learning Knitting. The double needle trick for the LT cast on actually doesn’t solve the issue of a tight cast -on row. It makes a messy foundation row because it puts the “slack” into the stitches themselves instead of into the yarn between each stitch, where it actually needs to be to allow for adequate stretch. The two parts of the row are comprised of two different sections of yarn. You’re putting slack on your working yarn but your tail is what needs to have the extra length to stretch. Instead of the double needle trick, focus on your stitch spacing on your cast-on row. Use your right thumb to hold the new stitch at a space of about a needle width from the last stitch you cast. If you struggle, you can insert your other needle in front of your last stitch to make the space as you tighten each new stitch. That’s tedious but it’s helpful as you are learning.
THANK YOU SO MUCH OR THIS SLOWER PACED AND THE TEACHING ON HOW TO TELL WHICH STITCHES ARE WHAT AND HOW TO CORRECT MISTAKES. I NEVER RELIZED HOW TO TELL WHAT STITCHES WERE WHAT AND MY CORRECTING MISTAKES WAS TAKE IT APART AND START OVER ROM THAT POINT. VERY FUSTRATING LOL
Mikey, I LOVE that you are knitting. I've tried knitting a few times now and am finally beginning to get it. I do have a question that I would love to see a video on, I know there are MANY different cast on methods and I've found lots of videos demonstrating them, but I am curious as to WHY one may be better than another? As in, when should I use a long tail cast on, vs something simpler, etc... Thank you!
I didn’t realise how intricate the action was when I do a thumb cast-on. You are so patient with beginners - I wish you had taught me …😁… I got a few sore knuckles from being smacked by the teacher at school (that was in the “olden days”…😂)🥰
i'm surprised you're not using the continental way of knitting they said it is easier that way when you are a crocheter first.. not sure though i just heard it somewhere 😅 i am a crocheter too and im trying to learn how to knit on and off i tried the english way but got more confused 🤣 anyways i will try again next time.. i will definitely watch more tutorials from you. thank you ❤
I have crochet for years and want to learn to knit. I have tried a few times but gave up. I might try this with you. I struggle with identifying stitches. I want to be able to look at my work and understand a knit vs purl stitch so if I mess up I can identify it. Also what happens if you drop a stitch? How do you fix it? How do you frog your work with knitting?
Happy that you are learning a new skill, but you really need to research on how to cast on, as your cast on is way TOO loose. There are lots of youtube tutorials about cast on to look at.
Well that's rude...he did state that he is a beginner so can you cut him some slack? Just happy to know that the thousands of subscribers to The Crochet Crowd know and trust Mikey with all our crocheting and now knitting projects from beginner to experienced. He is the best teacher!
We have different cast on methods here on the channel if you would prefer something else. I find the Twist and Transfer that I love is too tight for new knitters to start trying. I'm trying to vary my methods on the cast on process for different videos. Thank you for your constructive input.
@@TheCrochetCrowd If you hadn't suggested casting on 2 needles I wouldn't have given knitting another try. Mine were too tight as well and I tossed my needles aside for a year until you started this series. I'm actually knitting now! Thank you, Mikey.
Oh my God Mikey don’t scare me like that. I know there’s a dark side to the web, but I’ve never seen it. Now to hear that there’s a Darkside to crochet and knitting is making me feel creepy.🤣🤡☠️😈🧶🧢🦇🕷🕸🦂🪳🪙⚰️🖤🔱

I love that you're showing knitting projects as well as crochet. Mikey has thousands of crochet patterns. Some of us do both.
I agree!

Truly appreciate the tips for recovering/correcting errors in the stitchwork. Thank you, Michael. ❤
Those flat hats are the best for beginners and you can also crochet it too. Quick and easy to learn, great stash buster 💜💜
I only can crocheting unfortunately! But I appreciate everything you do.
Your sweater is beautiful!!!
I’ve also been thinking about trying to knit again, this was so helpful

Thanks Mikey 👏🏼🐨🦘👋🏻
I can do both. I prefer crocheting over knitting. In knitting I cam Knit and purl only.
Tejo agujas de una manera muy diferente, pero todo lo que usted comparte me sirve y es útil!!! Le agradezco maestro 😘🇲🇽☘️☘️❤️👏👏😘👏

Thanks for the tutorial! What knitting needles do you use?
On camera, I think those are knitters pride. I bought them years ago.
