    Hey CC! idk if you guys will see this but I’ve watched a lot of you guy’s videos! I think it’s so great that there’s a actual decent RUclips channel for educational purposes and I’ve learned quite a bit! BUT I think what would make you guys channel 100x better would be to have quiz’s/tests for your videos so people can see how much smarter they are becoming and can tell if they are improving! Would love to get a response from you guys about this!

    Wait a minute... 'Robota' is not a 'Slavic language word for a forced laborer'. In many Slavic languages, 'robota' simply means work, job or alternatively hard labor but definitely not a forced laborer. Maybe in Czech it does also mean something else. Not sure.

    • @HomelessOnline
      @HomelessOnline 7 лет назад +3

      Heck no you shouldn't give up!!! I failed 4 programming classes in a row! After my last report card, I sat looking at my book, and told myself, "I'm going to learn this with or without a college class!" I opened to page 1 and started reading and doing the examples...slowly. It's been almost 20 years now, I trained my son and he's also an accomplished programmer, and neither of us have degrees! Just be prepared to try hard and study hard. (Much harder than your average college student.) I'm nearly 50 and still study on a daily basis.

    "Azimov"? Asimov. And he didn't invent the three laws as some kind of solution for the problem of robotic ethics - they were a really rough starting point, and the stories he wrote based on them were almost all about how those laws went wrong and were not adequate on their own.

      AI aren't a problem because they have some sinister alterior motive, they are dangerous because they could do exactly what they're told to do and still have bad results. Think about that one myth about a golem who flooded his master's house because it was asked to bring him a cup of water

      They do what they're programmed to do. They wont intend to do anything to us unless we design them with free will and no morality system. On another note, we seem to function just fine with other humans without completely knowing their intentions or motivations.

  • @macbuff81
    @macbuff81 7 лет назад +1

    once we robots achieve full AI and in essence become sentient, will it still be ethical to treat like robots/slaves? Will they not revolt at being sent to fight wars that are not theirs? Now this is still science fiction, but at the rate technology has advanced especially in the last two decades we need to think about these things now. The movie "Ex Machina" as well as the great TV series BSG (the reimagined one) dealt with this issue in a very provocative and interesting way. No clear answers were given, but they did address the issue. What is sentience? At what point do we declare a machine self-aware? Will we grant these machines the same rights that we now call human rights? In the effort to create machines that can replace soldiers for example, we inevitably try to give those machines the same capabilities as a human. The ability to observe, judge, decide and act on that decision. The line between what we now consider uniquely human and robot/machine intelligence may get blurred. After all, we still don't fully understand how our brains operate and how the "self" is created. After all, everything psychological is ultimately biological. Our brains use chemical as well as electrical signals to communicate. So, I don't think the question is not whether or not we can create a self-aware machine, but when. Once machines are able to learn on their own and build their own neural networks in a way similar to an organic brain, they will most likely look for models similar to a child. Will they take the best that humanity has to offer? Will they see us a threat or simply a nuisance? Or will they take the best that humanity has to offer and work with humanity?

    • @Hackerrman
      @Hackerrman 7 лет назад

      Christian O. Holz AI is still going to have to be taught what morals are and it will be unbiased to everything, even self preservation unless it is programmed inherently to want to preserve its self

    Why is it so shocking that robots have trouble doing things humans take for granted? Humans have millions of years of natural selection debugging our software; robots have only been around for a few decades.

    • @timothymclean

      Aside: "Combat robots would be taking orders from humans and executing them as efficiently as possible, but sometimes human orders turn out to be really bad."
      How is this an argument against combat robots? Are human soldiers supposed to be able to determine when orders are bad and then not do them?I mean, they _can,_ but they're at least as likely to _not_ follow orders when they _aren't_ bad. (More to the point: How anyone living after both Nazi Germany and the Milgram Experiment believe most people will think twice about heinous orders?)

    Kids want to 'play' games that travel (i.e. pokemon) why not make lots of inexpensive drones in many different types (subs, tanks, aircraft)?
    The museums & other educational institutions of the world could create clues to build interest in school subjects. Ever imagine flying over the Eiffel tower, crossing the arctic, or exploring under water caves...? Instead of waiting to connect to an online game, or selecting tools, kids would be waiting to find an empty drone in that part of the world & connect to it. They can request the builders to fit different scanning & measurement devices, or they could build & ship theirs to a charging facility near by. Build tons of jobs all across the globe.

To top it all of sudden basics of Control theory and PID controllers. Very strange episode.

    We should use machine learning in order to teach robots about morality and ethics, whilst using variations of the Three Laws as a set of training wheels until they are fully matured. We should also be teaching ethics and morality to bots/agents on the internet, ESPECIALLY copyright/demonitization bots.

    I feel like the categorization of A[z]imov's laws of robotics is a bit glib. If you read his robot-centric stories, they are usually all about mishaps and problems with the interpretation of the laws, which are seen by more naive characters as perfectly valid and complete rulesets.
    If anything, the laws read more to me like the parody product of a strawman overambitious engineer or philosopher that takes themselves too seriously.

    Robotic technology is machine intelligence which is different from human intelligence.
    robotic should have their unique design not using current CPU, all heading toward wrong direction.

      Other courses like Sociology get accused of being "communist" or similar nonsense all the time, so they need to balance it out a bit. :D

      "Communism was responsible for the deaths of over 100,000,000 last century." lulz Sure, and "communism" did it. As if communism is just one big monolith. Is 'socialism' a synonym of evil to you? "Human life means nothing in their quest for power." Whose? Dictators' like Stalin? Yeah. You know, capitalism (and western imperialism) results in deaths and slavery but I guess it's all cool as long as you get to enjoy your expensive coffee, smartphones, diamonds, and so on. I mean, the poor and the sick deserve to die, right? Remember that a class war is also a war of race, gender, and more. There is no equality under capitalism, authoritarianism.

      People blame capitalism all the time for things that are completely unrelated to it. For example: slavery and monopolies. But not many people realize that slavery and monopolies are forbidden under pure capitalism: capitalism is about making free choices, whereas monopolies and slavery forbid it. So if we can't blame communism for what happens in those countries, you can't really blame capitalism for much either.
