    Full the 5 gallon jug with two full loads from the 3 gallon jug.
    This leaves you one gallon in the 3 gallon jug. dump the five gallon jug.
    Than add the one gallon, in the 3 gallon jug, to the five gallon jug.
    Fill the 3 gallon jug and empty out into the 5 gallon jug.
    This gives you 4 gallons of water.

      Theyneverknow You spend more time filling a 5 gallon jug twice than the 3 gallon jug twice.
      It's a timed puzzle.
      Mine leaves for a wider margin for error. And if you do mess up you just switch to the other solution.
      It's the better solution given the hypothetical situation.

    • @thurandyl3203
      @thurandyl3203 7 лет назад

      You have to fill the 3 gallon jug 3 times and pour that one 3 times and empty the 5 gallon jug 1 time....while in the video you have to fill the 5 gallon jug 2 times, pour 6 gallons and empty 3 gallons. That's handling 3x3+3x3+5=23 gallons compared to 5x2+6+3= 19 gallons in the video. I would say emptying and filling take the same amount of time (I mean, the same amount of water goes through the same opening) and pouring takes just a little longer because of the precision needed. So I would say the video's way goes faster because of handling 4 gallons less and the longest step (pouring) has 3 gallons more if that really matters.
      BUT:
      -I would handle a 3 gallon jug way easier than a 5 gallon jug, definitely if not a single spill is allowed.
      -I find your way a lot simpler to come by than the one in the video (so faster to come by). Which means, that it would be the first one to come to mind and if time based, I would probably complete it first by your way than someone using the video's way because of the small difference in handling gallons.
      I actually thought, well this is a lot easier than in the video, but after maths, if you know both (and the BUT arguments don't count), I'd pick the video's way.

    that's not even what the architect explains
    he explains that the 6th version of the matrix is the "perfect" version he explains that the matrix needs to have a balance of good and bad
    the first version was essentially heaven the machines wanted the Humans to want for nothing make them happy to be in the matrix but the human mind wouldn't accept it as reality and went mad and died
    machines thinking rudimentary the second version was basically hell nonstop pain and suffering but once again the Human minds could not cope and they died
    they began experimenting and i think by gen 4 came to the conclusion was just simulating Humanity just before their "golden age" so early 2000s humans found this to be the most easy to accept but there would always those who questioned it and the machines couldn't prevent them from escaping
    so the machines made a plan to let the humans escape but pretend they were trying to stop them and let them form a city and once the city became too populated they would destroy them since they were all in one place and then the cycle continued for presumably a few hundred years its not even clear if Neo broke the cycle if everything went according to the machines plan
    The Animatrix (which is the Matrix version of Halo Legends) goes into more detail about the uprising of the Machine nation (called 01) and the creation of the matrix
    the destruction of earth and Humanity is actually purely Humanities fault as the machines became more self aware they wanted to be free and form their own nation and for a while there was peace but the machine nation became too efficient their products and economy caused global crashes and risked Humans way of life so they attacked first but by the time they realized nukes and conventional weapons wouldn't work on the machines it was too late 01 (reluctantly) decided that Humanity had to be exterminated for their own self preservation
    01 sees Humanity as greedy and selfish incapable of peace and coexistence so they have a deep disdain for their own creators its a real mind fuck finding out that Humanity is actually the bad guy in the Matrix

      @biocapsule7311 7 лет назад +7

      It also tries to explain the original flaw of the trilogy. Which was the machine never needed human as a power source, that was so even if one just watch the first movie. The plot still sucks but at least they tried to correct the flawed premise. But the machine isn't really interested in the extermination of humanity.

    • @indeed7289
      @indeed7289 7 лет назад +1

      i only gave the basic gist only enough for people yo look up for info if they're interested
      but yes you're correct the matrix was only a morbid punishment for starting the war after the nano machines covering the earth die and the darkened skies clear the machines were going to let Humanity free any way

    • @JesterNR1
      @JesterNR1 7 лет назад +1

    The unicorn is a symbol of a 'one of a kind thing'. Rachel being a unique replicant that doesn't have a pre-determined life span and develops her own emotions beyond what is programmed into her. The symbolism is basically that Gaff is giving tons of little hints that encourages Deckard to run off and protect Rachel. But it has a secondary symbolism as Deckard decides to help her out of love for her (unicorns commonly being used as a symbol for purity and love). May seem kind of weak, but hey, remember that Ridley Scott used the same symbolism in Legend. The cut ending for Blade Runner also makes it a lot more obvious, possibly why the ending was cut (or because it was a really lackluster scene that looked like it was filmed on highway 101 outside LA and doesn't fit with the rest of the movie at all).
    The Architect is a similar case of symbolism, or more accurately foreshadowing to basically everything in the third movie. But like the third Maxtrix movie, it wasn't planned or executed well.

  • @biocapsule7311
    @biocapsule7311 7 лет назад +1

    Actually that scene with Architect was the only redeeming value of the trilogy if you realized that the trilogy never made sense from the first, that scene was the only attempt to repair it. 1) & 2) is just the bare minimum of the information but they just got a bit too wordy with it, it is however still a dialogue suited to the nature of the Architect. I don't get why people dislike it so much.

    dude the gallon problem is so simple, i just figured they would assume the audience figured it out, you fill the 5 gallon jug full, then use it to fill the 3 gallon bucket, then you are then left with 2 gallons in the 5 gallon, then empty the 3 gallon bucket, then take the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon bucket and pour it into the 3 gallon bucket, then you have two gallons in the 3 gallon bucket. then you fill the 5-gallon bucket full, then pour water into the 3-gallon bucket until it is full and boom 4 gallons.

    The unicorn scene is actually quite simple. In one of the cut scenes he made a unicorn before that scene and Deckard saw it I think it was while he was driving Deckard or they were at the precinct. So it's an allusion to Gaff and it's also Gaff letting him know that he's looking the other way in Deckard leaving with Rachael to live life elsewhere and at least attempt a life of love which we rarely get in life. That was the allusion to "then again who really does". I can't believe people don't understand that scene.

    • @Yemeth42pis
      @Yemeth42pis 7 лет назад

      Well you didn't either then. We never see Gaff doing the unicorn, he does a chicken and stick man with an erect penis.
      And what confuses people is the fact that the clue that shows Gaff let him leave with Rachel (everybody got that) is a unicorn like in his dream, implying Gaff knows his dream implying he is a replicant.
      And I believe Ridley Scott confirmed that but seeing that they were multiple versions of the movie over the year, I'm not sure the man has is mind really set about it.

    I'll be honest...half of the movies on this list, the scenes aren't understandable because the director/movie/whatever was just garbage to begin with. The other half are films where the scene/ending requires you have to have an IMAGINATION and decide for yourself what the meaning is. It's not just laid out for you in black and white.

  • @ZackeryGee
    @ZackeryGee 7 лет назад

    The Die Hard Water puzzle bothered me so much as a kid I had to figure it out! There is actually another way to do this. Fill the 3 gal jug to the top. Pour all of it in the 5 gal jug. (Leaves 2 gallons empty in the 5 gal jug.) Refill the 3 gal jug and pour 2 gallons from it into the 5 gallon jug (where there was only 2 gallons of space left.) NOW you have 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug. Empty 5 gallon jug and pour in the last gallon from the 3 gallon jug. Refill 3 gallon jug and pour it into the 5 gal jug (which currently has 1 gallon) and boom... 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
    I even went back to watch the scene a few times to see if they answered it... which no... of course not. I forget how old I was at the time... Want to say early teens. But MAN did that one piss me off!
    Cheers, folks! Sorry for my dumb post... but I HAD to get it off my chest. Harboring that for years! Hah!

    Fill 3 gallon jug again, pour into the 5 gallon jug until full. 3 gallon jug now has 1 gallon left in it.
    Empty out the 5 gallon jug, pour 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug into the 5.
    Fill 3 gallon jug and empty it into the 5 gallon jug.
    I was stoked when I figured that out as a 15 year old.

    WhatCulture, what would you think about the 1990s version of Total Recall (with Arnold)? With all the crazy clues and hidden clues the movie tells, do you think Quaid is in a dream or is it reality? I'm really curious what you think about that.

    Along time Ago, in an internet far away, there was a cartoon on Newgrounds about that scene with the Architect. He was a little pull-string doll that looked like Colonel Sanders. Neo would pull the string and the Architect would say the only words i ever could comprehend: "Ergo!" "Visa Vi!" "Systemic anomaly!" I can't stop laughing as I'm typing this out.

    The Holy Motors reference should've been in "10 movies nobody's seen." :-) Actually, I've seen it, and would recommend it to anyone who likes weird movies that make you say "what the hell did I just see". The scene isn't confusing, but I never read much into it and I like your interpretation. Time to watch it again, maybe.

    My solution to Die Hard water bottle was always: Fill 3 gallon jug and then pour into empty 5 gallon jug. Refill the 3 gallon jug and pour into the 5 gallon jug holding 3 gallons with 2 gallons of space remaining. This will leave the 3 gallon jug with 1 gallon remaining. Now empty the 5 gallon jug, then pour the 1 gallon from the 3 gallon jug into the empty 5 gallon jug. Refill the 3 gallon jug and pour into the 5 gallon jug containing 1 gallon. The 5 gallon jug now contains 4 gallons. Might be a lot of work but was a fairly simple and straight forward solution.

    The Lost Highway theory about the second half of the movie being a dream is definitely correct, and the "proof" of that is Mulholland Drive. That movie was Lost Highway in reverse; it was David Lynch trying to perfect the idea of showing two seemingly different movies, one of which is the fantasy of the other. It works a lot better in Mulholland Drive, where we see the fantasy first and reality last. Lost Highway showed reality first, and I think that's what confused people because strangely enough, there's actually less to hold on to as a viewer that way. Once the fantasy kicks in, it's just "what the hell's going on?" whereas in reverse, it's more "oooooh, so that's what she *really* thought about that guy", etc.

    The die hard puzzle is simpler than that. You half fill both jugs then pour the 1.5 gallons into the 5 gallon jug which has 2.5 gallons, now you have 4 gallons. They had no way to measure one gallon otherwise they could just add one gallon at a time. I looked it up when I watched the movie again recently.

    I guess the unicorn will forever be confusing.
    Because while Sir Ridley Scott has confirmed that he DEFINITELY made the movie believing that Deckard is a replicant, Deckard is also in the new upcoming sequel, and is noticeably older. Something that should be impossible for the short lifespan of a replicant.

    I've been binge-watching this channel for a few weeks now and my one big complaint -- and it's a doozy -- is that the kids making these videos are generating an awful lot of content from repeatedly making the same few observations about the same few movies. Before two weeks ago, I'd literally never even heard of *Enemy* starting Jake Gyllenhall, and the whole wife-turns-into-a-spider thing has been referenced at *least* half a dozen times, in half a dozen of these videos. Which, if you're keeping score at home, is just about the most egregious sin that an otherwise admirable passel of lads could commit on RUclips since it implies (a) that they don't respect us enough to anticipate that we'd notice and call bullsh*t on it, and (b) it's being cynically wielded as a means of drumming-up what are actually recycled click-counts, to increase the channel's advertising revenues.

    Magnolia actually gives you the answer for the frogs rain. There’s a scene where you can see someone from the quiz show audience holding a sign saying “Exodus 8:2”, which says: “If you refuse to let them go, I will send a plague of frogs on your whole country.” (Or something similar, depending on the translation). And if you watch the movie again knowing this, you’ll find that the numbers 8 and 2 are all over the place. (You can see the sign on Google Images: “Magnolia Exodus 8:2”)

    The Architect scene isn't that complicated even if its intended to be. Lots of people understood it right in the theater:
    1) After different versions of a controlling simulation had failed (entire crops were lost), one version finally works which actually gives everyone hooked into it a 'choice' to accept the fantasy or reject it...even if they aren't fully aware they are making a choice.
    2) The vast majority would accept the fantasy and live out their virtual lives as batteries.
    3) A small percentage would reject it and either go insane or find a way out.
    4) Left unchecked, that small percentage would inevitably grow over time to become both a physical threat to the machines *and* degrade the matrix itself until it collapsed.
    5) Two things are needed to regulate these problems: Physical raids in the real world to cull the humans that get out and "the one" to correct the growing anomaly in the matrix.
    6) A human is always selected (randomly or specifically) as "the one" and given a code and another choice: Reject the system completely which risks the end of all humans or return the code to the mainframe which reboots the degrading matrix simulation and selects breeders to continue humanity. The whole cycle continues.
    Neo made pretty much the same choice by the end of Revolutions that his predecessors did and returned to the mainframe to save humanity. However, unlike the last cycles, this time there is the inclusion of the Smith virus that (for reasons I don't understand) results in more of humanity being aware of what's happening and the Architect saying people will be allowed to leave if they wish (which they were anyway).
    For all we know the Smith virus happens every time and the entire chain of events we saw is part of the matrix by design.

    The only way the matrix would have made sense was if the Wachowski Sisters were allowed to script it the way they wanted to... humans as processing power. Instead the studio decided viewers were too dumb to understand it and the rest of the movie(s) dont make any frigging sense.

    For the Die Hard puzzle, it can also be solved more easily as follows: fill up the 3 gallon jug and pour that into the 5 gallon jug. Now fill up the 3 gallon jug again and fill the 5 gallon jug the rest of the way. You now have 1 gallon of water in the 3 gallon jug, so empty the full 5 gallon jug, and pour the 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug into it. Now just fill the 3 gallon jug completely and pour that into the 5 gallon jug containing your 1 gallon. Thus 4 gallons...
