Hats off to Jurgen, Aaron and Alan for this outstanding episode. You guys showed us the rare, the not so rare, the affordable and the insanely priced items. Also great that Jurgen showed a lot of the new anthology sets that provide the best bang for the buck.

The guys crushed it in my absence!! I have zero skin in the NWOBHM game.

That Tredegar album is a really nice one. I'm local to that area, it's named after a town in south Wales. It's ponunciation for us would be 'truh-dee-guh' 🙂

Great show as always with these dudes. A few of my favourites would be Saracen - Heroes, Saints & Fools, Quartz - Stand up and Fight, Crys - Rhyfelwr, Black Rose - No Point Runnin', and the New Electric Warriors comp. As an aside, the Streetfighter track on NEW might be my favourite NWOBHM track, and I struggle to think of anything else that sounds quite like it from the movement. To my mind, it sounds like someone zapped Scorpions circa 1977 with a British ray right down to the occasional Uli style shouts peppered throughout the track. Nothing else was released by the lineup featuring John Sykes and Merv Goldsworthy, as John left before the 45, which was a shame in a way.

Nice picks! Yes, that Streetfighter track form NEW is great and much better than anything on their EP. I've always liked 'Heores Saints & Fools' a lot too!

Excellent vid, I will certainly be referring back to this one on many occasions as I have with your guys other New Wave of British Heavy Metal discussions as I build up my collection. You guys are a wealth of knowledge on the subject.

Enjoying catching up in the stream tonight. Love seeing the really obscure stuff getting pulled, many things I've only ever read about in Macmillan but never actually seen. Tredegar is pronounced Tre-dee-gar, it's the town in Wales where the Budgie lads originally came from.

Aaron, the Blackwych LP from 1986 was released in Ireland on Crashed, so was the Green Metal comp from 1985.

Some good picks shown. I think I`ve said it before on some comments, like with many other broad "genres", there was so much material being put out, and I feel like a lot was just very average/run of the mill or not very original-rehash or otherwise good instrumentally, but unfortunately ruined by not apt/poor vocals in my view. Of the early ones and not so known mentioned, DERVISH is my choice. One of my favorites (not sure if it was talked about during the stream-coudn´t watch the full 4 hour session) is SANCTUS from London-their 2 demos from 1982/83-mixing the NWOBHM with prog/space rock. Love it. Cheers!

You're right, there is a lot of not-so-great material out there too. I did an episode of LET'S TALK METAL a couple of weeks ago reviewing a few NWOBHM singles that I think are pretty bad.
DERVISH did get a shout-out, great band! I mentioned demo-only bands briefly but forgot to bring up SANCTUS; I haven't heard their stuff in years.

We did an episode 3 months ago that covered great LPs from the early years of NWOBHM (1980-1982). If this link below doesn't work, it was episode #94
      ruclips.net/video/o_LP4ZtXMKU/видео.html
We'll probably do a future episode on great LPs from after 1982 sometime.
