My ten simple answer towards the question 1:Lore 2:Longevity 3:Moveset 4:Popularity 5:Uniqueness 6:Connections 7:Long Time Fan Favorite 8:Unfinished business 9:Future directions of character lore 10:Unresolved and Unreach potential
Sean deserves a slot. Imagine a Timeskipped Sean that realized he can't master Ken’s fighting style so he decides to mix it with his family's fighting style for lightning charged moves
He could also have some interactions with Mel since they said that Ken taught him some his moves to him. So why not have Sean and Mel interact and become playable fighters. The two can even have like a sort of rivalry between being both taught by Mr Masters himself.
I think it would have soften the blow If Makoto, Dudley and Sean were in the starting roster of SF6 instead of Blanka, Dhalsim and E. Honda. Reintroduced them, it's been since 1999 you can make them cool... it just depend of your will to do so Capcom... not the characters themselves.
Like If they gave Dhalsim like an apprentice who was on the roster, I wouldn't mind him being on there, but no. As for the likes of Honda and Blanka, I REALLY don't understand why Capcom just can't retire them if they have nothing else to do with them in terms of shaking up their play styles and characterization.
For me a guest character must meet two criteria for me to enjoy their inclusion 1 does the existing roster before their inclusion feel complete 2 does the guest character fit the world and themes of the series they are guesting in Good examples Terry and Mai in SF6 Geese and Akuma in Tekken (tho Akuma having story significance is a whole can of worms that I don't want to get in) Bad examples 2B in Granblue Negan and Noctis in Tekken For me I don't like Lucy's inclusion in Strive It's a first guest for the series and they don't feel fitting for the world of GG but I'm in some minority/alone on that opinion Maybe I'm just salty the one chance Blazblue had at getting any sort of bone was instead given to one of the most popular anime and waifu in recent times
Akuma and Geese broke the game in T7. Terry and Mai have been used and overused, so, so much. They will be a decent addition to SF6, but not a interesting one. Almost any other guest would have been less boring. I don't get the popularity of 2B, but I don't think she's so inapropiate to Granblue universe. Both franchises have a very handwaving worldbuilding, specially when related to powers and combat. I even feel 2B skimpy design looks less stupid in Rising than in her way darker, more serious original game.
If I had seen your tweet on Twitter I would have definitely responded to it. For me Linguini nailed a lot of it, but I do really wanna emphasize that characters who haven't been seen for a while and can be *easily* expanded upon are definitely characters deserving of a roster slot. In example with SF6 we have Honda and Blanka who just have their niche - the Sumo and the Jungle Man. At this point we KNOW they're not going anywhere past that. That's their identity at this point; they're very one-dimensional and probably will continue to be such until the end of time. Now if you brought back Eagle and Maki you can't convince me you can layer more of the modern era atop them. They don't have a strong core identity in the franchise, they haven't been SEEN in a long time and they'd shake things up for that alone and they moderate fanbases that want to see them return. Maki alone is mentioned to be into motorcycles and that's enough to reinvent the character with a whole punk 'biker girl' aesthetic that also blends with the previous street ninja vibe. It's almost like getting a newcomer, yet they're a vet. It's literally a win/win and I don't understand how a lot of Fighting Game companies don't understand this even though I've _seen them do it._ Even characters like Sean and Makoto are ripe for this because we haven't seen them for a while. Just like Rashid who came back to 6 as a Vlogger, Sean could be a professional e-sports and sports champion and noted to be a 'star' in anything competitive. Makoto's fighting style could have become so effective and recognized that now she's become a CIA/Special Forces hand-to-hand instructor. Like when you have characters that have been gone for a while and they HAVEN'T gotten a chance to get expanded on, or catch up with the modern day - I have to question why you're avoiding putting them in the roster.
it's okay for the occassional entry in games like soul calibur and mortal kombat, but when they take up half a roster at the expense of characters who haven't been seen for a good numberr of games then there's a problem. it's as if the creators are bereft of ideas.
Sure I mean there are characters that we are so used to so much and how we look into like ryu, chun-li, terry and mai. To be fair tho there are a lot of deserving characters that needs to return before we as people that are fans start to forget about it so quick.
Wasn't expecting this video right after the kyo erasure but I will agree with linguini97 post about what characters that would make a "deserving" of a roster slot and if you know me by now you know what character that would come to my head straight away lol
For me, a character deserves a roster slot if they can meet these basic criteria: 1- Fun to play. 2- Unique playstyle. 3- Great character design. 4- Doesn't break the game. 5- Focus on player expression. 6- Allows story to advance. Homie, at this stage of the game, NOBODY IS GETTING WHAT THEY REALLY WANT FROM THESE FIGHTING GAME ROSTERS. Instead of getting upset and flipping internet tables, like a lot of people are doing, we should just enjoy it. Can we just enjoy these Fighting Games, and see where things are heading? Why can't we just let Capcom, SNK, ArcSys, Namco, Type Moon, and French Bread cook? Most people are trying to eat dessert, without eating dinner, yet, and it's crazy, Man. I want certain characters back, myself, but we may never see certain favorites, ever again. Shit, I wanted Maximum Impact characters in KOF XV, but it didn't happen. Am I gonna cry about it? No! The end of the journey is more important than a few 50/50 characters we may never see again. I just want people to stop complaining, so we can see how the story ends. It's okay that Lucy Kushinada is in Guilty Gear. It's okay for Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui to be in Street Fighter. It's okay that NRS is making most of it's money off Hollywood Cameos. The only way we can change things is to either not buy the products, or become part of the companies we love, and change things from within. Other than that, can we please just enjoy the ride? I guarantee the ending will be worth it. Let these companies cook, and stop forcing them to give us TV Dinners, when they would rather give us four course meals. 🤷🤷🤷🤷
I wish Capcom puts a Human Killing Machine Character in SF6, since it WAS Street Fighter 2 before Street Fighter 2. ruclips.net/video/iBHmALUYuIM/видео.html

Soulcalibur and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

The fact that Luke has some of Sean's moves but Sean's not in the game is kinda insulting.
Makoto and Dudley were in SF4, Sean's the only one who hasn't come back yet.
Deejay came back before any SF3 character ffs
@@Vash16xli I agree about it and I feel like it’s just not fair that Sean has to be on the sidelines and forgettable.

The main thing that makes a character deserving of a roster slot is whether or not they are Hugo.
Awesome Videos! Way to go Chris Lotus!!
For me a guest character must meet two criteria for me to enjoy their inclusion
1 does the existing roster before their inclusion feel complete
2 does the guest character fit the world and themes of the series they are guesting in
Good examples
Terry and Mai in SF6
Geese and Akuma in Tekken (tho Akuma having story significance is a whole can of worms that I don't want to get in)
Bad examples
2B in Granblue
Negan and Noctis in Tekken
For me I don't like Lucy's inclusion in Strive
It's a first guest for the series and they don't feel fitting for the world of GG but I'm in some minority/alone on that opinion
Maybe I'm just salty the one chance Blazblue had at getting any sort of bone was instead given to one of the most popular anime and waifu in recent times

I feel that Lucy doesn't Fit fighting games in general

Guest characters bring in new blood. I'm sorry we dont have Stryker in MKX. How about Jason? Predator? A Xenomorph?
